Hello, I want to know if you have to number the pages in your manuscript. If I have a table of contents, the page numbers will change when I upload it right? So do I upload it and then set the page numbers? I couldn't find this question in the FAQ at the website.
@thebrightages Yes, you are correct. If you are setting up a manual table of contents, then you should upload your manuscript first, make any chapter start or other adjustments needed, and then you can enter the page numbers last.
There is no minimum up front cost to use Wordclay to publish your book. You can create an account, upload your manuscript, create a cover, select your book's selling price and your royalty amount, publish the book, and place it in Wordclay's bookstore for sale, all for free. There's no obligation to order books, but if you do, they are printed on demand, so you can order only 1 or 1,000 ... it's your choice.
Yes, you are required to supply your address. It's important that you keep your address updated because royalty checks for books sold are mailed to the address on file.
If you pick a size for the book, and when you type it up everything is on one page. Will it make more pages than how much you typed up on the computer? Please write back:)
I'm not 100% sure that I understand your question, but I hope this helps: After you type your manuscript or put your works into one document you'll upload your file. Wordclay's wizard transforms your document to fit the margins of the book size you selected. If you have 50 pages in a standard manuscript document, which is about 8.5x11 in size, you'll have more than 50 pages in your finished book if you select the 6x9 or 5x8, because we'll fit all the text into a smaller page.
A subtitle is simply an extension of the book's title. For example if a book was called "My Life: The College Years," then "The College Years" is the subtitle.
Yes, you do have to pay to get a copy of the book after it's published. However, there's no obligation to purchase your book in order to have it available for sale in Wordclay's Bookstore. And, you are not charged the full retail price; you get a discounted author price, which you can estimate using the pricing calculator on Wordclay's homepage.
While the softcover format is the only kind that we regularly offer on our site, Wordclay will actually work with you if you wish to publish in hardcover or color. Just chat with a customer service rep and they can set you up!
Oh yes, of course! You can sell your book through the Wordclay Bookstore (included with the free service) and you'll get paid for books sold when Wordclay mails out royalties checks on a quarterly basis (4 times/year). You actually choose the royalty amount/selling price of your book through the wizard during the publishing process.
Although I've tested the publishing wizard extensively, I don't have any published books available. (I'm a Wordclay employee.) But you know, now that you mention it, I really should! :) If you want to connect with Wordclay authors, there's a Facebook group called "Writers Publishing with Wordclay," but any writer or book enthusiast can join.

Question, say if I wanted to publish a comic book, is this program only to publish novels or can graphic novels work as well?
daileyimages 3 years ago
Yes, you could publish a black and white graphic novel using Wordclay, but currently Wordclay doesn't offer a color-interior option.
