I don't like her. She could sing really high and could hit notes such Ab6 or Bb6, even D7 according to what I've read about her... and so what? She might have a very large and uncommon vocal range, but it isn't enough to make her a great singer, I personally don't find anything else interesting in her singing.
I love Ewa Podles, a contralto who can reach the very low Bb2 and the very high D6, but she has also a perfect technique, a powerful voice and put many feelings into what she does.
she is such a soprano coloratura, it's ridiculous! her voice just craves agility and high notes! to a certain extent, i'm not even sure of how much control she has over it! that voice just wants to be sickeningly amazing!! idk what it is! whatever it is, i wish i had it!!! LOL
Merci Mme Bobin d'avoir enchanté ma jeunesse.
The singers of the past did not force or try to manipulate their voices by covering, distorting what nature gave them, to increase volume as heard today unlike the spontaneous singing heard during the Golden Period of Singing. Listen to Robin in the Bell Song and Lucia
@primohomme I agree Mado Robin is incredible indeed but you have to admit that those notes were in her voice, she was born with them so "just" because she sings an A or a Bflat over high C doesn't mean you shouldn't consider the rest such as expression or diction...So some do not have these notes but they sound as amazing as her and I don't have to give exemples...
I think you misread my comment...I said that just because she had a such a high extension that doesn't make her a great coloratura singer, her coloratura is sloppy.
Robin has no equals. Not Dessay, not Sumi Jo - none of these posers can hold a candle to this supremely gifted coloratura. Not even Sutherland can approach Robin in this aria!
her inhuman range is really the only reason this woman had a career, her voice is small and not particularly appealing, her intonation is lackluster at best, and her coloratura is sloppy.
I disagree, her notes are very clear and you have to remember that her songs were recorded with equipment in the 1950s and such so it isn't good quality. she was astounding.
her range was astounding, her voice and technique were not. Ive heard a lot of recordings of her, and I dont have any reason to believe that this is not an accurate representation of her voice. In any case, the timbre is really the only thing that could even conceivably be attributed to the audio quality, the messy coloratura and shaky intonation are also as they were in real life, anyone can hear that. if she didnt have the range she did she never would have had a career.
I think I agree with skitzo429... Although I think that perhaps the tremolo in her voice and the spread vowels are stylistic and intentional. Are they poor technique given what we now know of the voice? Yes, but the time tremolo and a very 'forward' sound was fashionable... yes?
Natalie Dessay also hits A above high C, but Mado does it in a more delicate tone, which is even more miraculous at that pitch - to have so much control over the voice.
this is amazing can't stop watching it are there any other singers who can hit that high A at the end erna sack is amazing also great singers do they hold records for this ?
Her stratospheric high notes make me shiver...Incredible .I don't think any other coloratura can equal her.Humanely it is impossible. She had THAT gift.
wonderful, love Peters in it also very much live in 55 met brdcst, great doll, Robin fine high notes could go to the sky, amazing in Lucia and Peerce told me it carried when he sang it with her in 54 in calif. and she did a B over C, Cleva was pissed. House exploded, Peerce did not lie to me, all true.
For some unknown reason (to me at least), this particular aria is sung today more elaborately than it used to be. Usually it's the reverse, that is, the earlier singers embellished more. If you listen to singers such as Mabel Garrison (renowned for the role of Olympia in the 1920's) or Lily Pons (also a famous exponent), Peters, Streich, they sing it similarly to Mado Robin, with only slight ornamentation. Modern singers, beginning with Sutherland, such as Claycomb and Futral decorate a lot.
You should all listen Mady mesple, if you think this is perfect..

This is proof that having an extremely high light voice doesn't make one a great coloratura singer.

shes probably the most "skillful"soprano who ever lived!
cirej25 2 years ago
Mado qui était la gentillesse même en plus de son talent en serait heureuse;
Elle dont la fille était muette.
La destinée est parfois cruelle.
olv640 3 years ago
olv640 3 years ago 14
volcan313 3 years ago 2
