It sounds like the bolt catch has either been removed or is damaged. Do you have the internal mag or have you modified the gun to take removable mags? Ive heard when modifying, it can cause this to happen.
@NeoWhiteWolf im not too sure but i had it for years. the magazines are detatchable not internal it didnt come with a bayonette like the ones with the built in magazines. maybe just a defect. i had 2 sks and the one with the internal mag shot to the left
Hmm.. There is a model of SKS made by the Chinese that takes AK mags. If that is the case, I havent played with those so i could be wrong. If it was modified when purchased, the person who modified it may have damaged it.
@NeoWhiteWolf yea but dnt matter. the stock colour is lighter than it's usual dark brown. you should try it. i added a stock with a recoil reducer and with the 30 rnd mag it looks deadly.but some how i still prefer the good ol sks stock
For 4 or 5 dollars for a box of 20 Steel cased Russians, cant beat it. But in a few states .223 is allowed for hunting and can be cheaper sometimes. But price point of the SKS overall makes it a better shooter.
I have a Norinco SKS,very reliable with factory 10 round mag.Shell case ejection pattern is a mystery, more like around the clock.Firing surplus military grade ammo makes the SKS a very economical buy.
The thing to remember with chinese sks is that it is a 100-190 m mass effect rifle,at 200m a 6 inch grouping is near impossible on open sights,8 inch very do-able prone with bipod or bench rest.Shell casings go every where ,even sent on down amid my shoulderblades firing prone in a cotton t -shirt,colourful metaphores were used at that point.
you have any trouble with the chinese sks? i just put a down payment on a really badass one. it was same price for chinese and yugo but the chinese had all the extra, scope, 3 point ar15 style desert camo stock, 20 rd removable mag. 400 bucks. damn the price went up on these things. let me know what you think about norinco vs yugo, did i get jipped?
I payed maybe 100-200 for this one. SKS's tend to have really have high tolerances for the usuals (Dirt, Hot loads, etc.) I put Wolf Steel Case through it and yes they may be dirty as hell but they never jam and never misfire for me. I tend to dislike the modified ones. It really takes away from the gun. But yeah they have jumped a lot. The only non-OEM stock i liked was for the yugo long barrels and it was the Drugunov style. But otherwise just putting a polymer standard Style is fine with me.
Yes I was in the army,.. But im proving the bitch-fest about sks's kicking..hahah Im with no bridge support.. Its like butter..Get out an shoot..not counter-strike nerds..I kill for the brass..bullet case'ng to none shooters. luv u bro
I just don't understand why the army would teach him to hold a gun like that. How can u even do that with the way an M-series rifle is setup?? BLASPHEMY!
I dout it's the U.S. Army training. That guy probably isnt used to firing a rifle without the pistol grip style. Dude is probably use to an M16 if he was in the army. Just a guess.
whoa my sks doesnt have the bolt open when ur out of rounds like that

Mine seems to eject any where but sideways. A lot of the shells were getting stuck up in the netting above us.

Is that a Zytel poly mag?
if so, how do you like it?
silleywilley 3 years ago
I went from the poly mag back to the OEM. Now im going to a new steel one. The polys tend to crack right on the top in a corner.

I'm not the one firing. And for some reason he does this, blame the US Army for his style.
