If you think no other good bands have done it, you don't know music. Theres nothing wrong with using some old ideas. I saw them live in 84, it was killer. I waited 28 years for Dave to return, and he is doing a great job, as is all the band. I cannot get enough of Eddie's guitar, this is how hard rock should sound, GREAT ALBUM VH!!!!
It's an ok song, not the best, more like a DLR solo song, but still ok, the point is, it's a smart move on their part to put out their less-er songs as a debut song cause then when you hear the rest of the album you'll get blown away. Not always but in some cases you shouldn't judge a new CD based on just the first release.

When I was a kid, V.H. was pretty damn cool, as we got older, Sammy brought more of a stability and musicianship to the band. Both were very good in their own way. TODAY, Dave is a 'has been' and his low talent really is exposed now. You'll see, and when things start falling apart for them, remember who told you it would = me.

@Drcarlsosb Disagree, but to each their own.. VH with Roth IS VH. I realize this isn't 1980 Van Halen...but, do you realize this isn't 1980? Give it a couple listens, or a few...it's really a fun listen, and some of the riffs are insane, Roth's voice is tight, Alex's drums are better than ever and I hate to say it, but Van Halen FINALLY has a bass player. Michael Anthony never brought anything to them but timing, Wolfie actually adds some spice. It's a great 'freshman' effort. :-)

This album is AWSOME!!! Yeah, Tatoo didn't paint the pic of what's coming but it grows on you quick! I dig it now. Yeah we all miss Michael's vocals, but Wolfie's playing is SOLID. The most rocking (old school) album out in YEARS!!!!! Brought back the groove from Women-n-Children/Fair Warning...love it!!! (Yeah Dave's a little older, but aren't we all!!!???!!!) :)

I have had the album for 5 days now and the more I listen the more I love it. Tattoo is obviously the hook song, but, its the worst tune of the disc. Every tune is good and song are just plain great. She's the Woman, China Town, and Beats Working are some of their best music ever. This album will out sell all of Chickenfoots stuff put together. (And I am a fan of both bands).

I think everyone forgets that the music-business is exactly that, a business, and it's primary goal is to sell concert-tickets and music, it doesn't really matter who the individual musicians are on a given tour, it's about money. What everyone thinks about personnel changes is largely irrelevant, the Stones regularly change bass-players, AC/DC have toured without Phil Rudd, the list goes on. As long as the core musicians are present and concert's sell-out, the industry doesn't really care.
@SGRev1 Wolfie has great licks. Even when they had Michael, they all said he wasn't a great bass player and they used to talk alot about how long it took Michael to "get it". Wolfie has the VH gene. I think they sound incredible. Awesome to hear that ensemble back together again. Brings back priceless memories!
Im so excited for the concert in april!! Today I already got the album 3 days early because we preordered it and let me tell you it is really awesome. Although its not as good as I thought it would be now that Michael Anthony is gone but this song says it all.

I mean over the years now I've heard Dave sing songs that made me melt like butter on hot toast. Listen to his sultry, sexy voice singing Black Sands and Coconut Grove or Ice Cream Man. I also love Ladies Night in Buffalo and the list is endless.
In my opinion Dave sounds better without Micheal Anthony's distracting screachs. Dave can obviously sing but I always felt that M.A screaching in the background took away from Dave's vocals which should have been front and centre. M.A was good on bass but no better than Wolfie. I mean look who taught him to play!!! Also when one can't hear oneself sing because the music overpowers the mike, it is also most distracting. I think thats why Dave forgot lyrics live. Too many distractions.

@Drcarlsosb Disagree, but to each their own.. VH with Roth IS VH. I realize this isn't 1980 Van Halen...but, do you realize this isn't 1980? Give it a couple listens, or a few...it's really a fun listen, and some of the riffs are insane, Roth's voice is tight, Alex's drums are better than ever and I hate to say it, but Van Halen FINALLY has a bass player. Michael Anthony never brought anything to them but timing, Wolfie actually adds some spice. It's a great 'freshman' effort. :-)

M.A is also an underrated Bass player and Wolfie is already overrated by blind V.H. fans who want to try and turn back the clock. This album is AWSOME!!! Yeah, Tatoo didn't paint the pic of what's coming but it grows on you quick! I dig it now. Yeah we all miss Michael's vocals, but Wolfie's playing is SOLID. The most rocking (old school) album out in YEARS!!!!! Brought back the groove from Women-n-Children/Fair Warning...love it!!! (Yeah Dave's a little older, but aren't we all!!!???!!!) :)

I have had the album for 5 days now and the more I listen the more I love it. Tattoo is obviously the hook song, but, its the worst tune of the disc. Every tune is good and song are just plain great. She's the Woman, China Town, and Beats Working are some of their best music ever. This album will out sell all of Chickenfoots stuff put together. (And I am a fan of both bands).

Dave has lost whatever voice he had, Wolfgang sux-out-loud - Alex is just keeping time - EH's solos are repetitive and unemotional. I think everyone forgets that the music-business is exactly that, a business, and it's primary goal is to sell concert-tickets and music, it doesn't really matter who the individual musicians are on a given tour, it's about money. What everyone thinks about personnel changes is largely irrelevant, the Stones regularly change bass-players, AC/DC have toured without Phil Rudd, the list goes on. As long as the core musicians are present and concert's sell-out, the industry doesn't really care.

In my opinion Dave sounds better without Micheal Anthony's distracting screachs. Dave can obviously sing but I always felt that M.A screaching in the background took away from Dave's vocals which should have been front and centre. M.A was good on bass but no better than Wolfie. I mean look who taught him to play!!! Also when one can't hear oneself sing because the music overpowers the mike, it is also most distracting. I think thats why Dave forgot lyrics live. Too many distractions.
