  • could you make a game where everything was made out of particles instead of a hollow object with graphics wrapped around it, if you know what i mean?

  • Wow, nice job! How did you make this? I'm new to OpenGL.

  • Nice, I see a lot of time and effort put into that, do you do this for a living? because thats degree level

  • would you care to elaborate?

  • @AsymmetricArt

    Yeah, he's retarded.

  • I KNOW! It's definitely computer generated!

  • @MrOnix9009 You idiot, didn't you read the description??

He scripted into the universe with C++ and GLUT. Idiot

  • @tomcokis I'm only joking lol

  • @MrOnix9009 what makes you think I wasn't joking?

  • Awesome man

  • hey man, did u use point sprite ARB.. if so... how did made it 3d objects, did u just use drawsphere() and put texture over there, and set the sphere and texture to alpha blend enable?

  • No I did not use point sprite ARB.

  • Can you share source?

  • Very Awesome CG animation. And the response of it is very fast! :-)

I want to know how to applicate the smoooth shading.I started to learn OpenGL last week but to applicate and set the properties the light and shading were too tough for me.

  • I just started "Beginning Opengl Game Programming"

Very good so far, but i'm only on the second chapter

  • man i thought programming would be easy.

i had no idea that all this goes into gaming..

OpenGL is really difficult to understand " I'm a newbe" i'm quite taken with it though and really would like to learn....need help

  • Spheres would be niceer, but good job. Me like.

  • Did you watch the whole thing? I switch to billboarded spheres a minute into the video. There's also real spheres (and other shapes) later.

  • @AsymmetricArt he ment like spheres instead of circles, and if those where spheres then you should have put a light in the scene somewhere to make them look 3D

  • @meming4 I used both billboards and real spheres. Watch it again, starting from the 4 minute mark. The video quality is low, I know, but it should be pretty clear that the particles demonstrated in that part of the video are 3d objects and not billboards.

  • openglforum COM is online :)

  • wow man. I tried to write a cool program like you. but it´s much harder than I thought. Do you have any tips for me. please send me a personal message. thank you for all tips.

    mfg lassomann

  • not to be mean but if u want to code...um, get a book, study, maybe take a curse, DL code prefable with 'comments' and analyze it. IE stop wanting and start DOIN! GL 2 ya!

  • really cool man. this is a good show. it would be good if the tornado rotates all the time

  • Cool.

How do I get the GLUT?

I read about it in the Redbook, but I couldn't find where to get the latest version.

  • I can't give you the link strieght forword, though I have the link listed at bombinaid.c-o-m Just enter in "GLUT"

  • id like to code my own :D

i will call him "houdinini" lol

  • nice job

    what grade are you in

  • I'm on my 4'th year in college. I study Computer Science at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.

  • I am master in OpenGL, if you have any problem feel free to drop me a line... Lol
