I think obamacare is the best thing a president has done, healthcare-wise. Healthcare shouldn't be all about profits, and thankfully the goverment is checking that 'industry' before nobody other than the very rich can afford healtchare. People of a nation are like children. They don't know any better & they need to be given rules and limits before everything around us falls apart. & trust educated professionals to set these rules & limits, not 'Joe from down the street' or greedy businessmen.

Not everybody just 'gets around' taxes.  If that were the case then taxes would be pointless to begin with. And giving the already-wealthy 600 billion dollars in tax cuts matters A LOT. Government is a good thing. It keeps our nation in check. Goverment is not taking away power from the people, the people ARE the govrmnt. It's wealthy corporations you love so much who are buying out the govrmnt (lobbying) & taking power away from the people. You republicans are allowing this to happen...

The freedom of choice, who we can marry, what we learn in school, what we wear & say, religion, what is able to be shown on TV, privacy laws, lowering the defense budget to lessen our government in OTHER countries..is ALL about LESS government. I agree some entitlement programs go overboard in the way they're coordinated, but you can't honestly believe that massive tax cuts for the top 2% of earners is going to 'spark the economy' & 'create jobs'. It's more like giving away elaborate vacations & more mansions to the already-rich. And the new republicans in the house haven't even taken office yet! And you credit THEM w/ a small thump in the economy?! LOL! You are so blind sighted.. I suppose the HOLIDAYS have NOTHING to deal with it..

@Wickedsky1986 You don't get it! It doesn't matter if you only increase the tax on the wealthy. These guys know all the loop holes in the IRS tax code to go around the issue. Look at what Sen. Kerry did with his multi-million dollar yacht this year to avoid paying taxes. We as a nation have strayed from what we stand for, less government and more power for the people (states). This all started when the states relinquished power to the federal government years ago. "These guys" = rep/dem.

@gunner5050, this is evident in the U.S. Supreme Courts decision to have no limits on how much 'corporations' can spend on political lobbying and donating. It was the republican justices who allowed this to occur. Blatant evidence on how republicans want to take power away from the people & empower wealthy corporations. Thanks to republicans, 'the people' now have no voice because the average person can't give millions of dollars to a political candidate for advertising. Thank people like u.

@gunner5050, the idea of 'less government' would be much desireable from a liberal point of view if the republicans weren't so hypocritical about it. They say 'don't tax so much', but say 'we want to force women to have their child because our religious beliefs". They say 'lower or eliminate funding for public schools', but say 'creationism should be taught to ALL children in public schools even if their parents don't want them to learn it'. Repubs LOVE big government, if it benefits THEM.

@gunner5050, In every society, gvrmnt is neccessary for things the people can't provide for themselves. Law enforcement, massive transportation& utility infrastructure, defense, & legislation & judicial systems. Gvrnmnt can also play a big role in stabalizing the economy & common well-being. All these things cost money, hence, taxes. W/ such less taxes that you wish for, many of these things would be underachieved & could result in the U.S. falling behind.
