  • About time Hollywood made a movie of the Champions.

  • Luckily i have seen that fountain as we flew into Geneva on the way to Corfu as our plane was running out of fuel!! Family originated in Switzerland so was glad to land there for a couple of hours!

  • That fountain has GOT to have an insanely powerful pump behind it. Woof!

  • @capttheo1

There is a big fountain at Chatsworth, and that's powered by gravity. Probably not as big as this, though.

  • 0:29

    Sipt Scrupervisor:

    Spennis Dooner.

  • i was 8 years old and i remember the melody of the intro.what a big times!!!!!

  • Wait a minute! I remember an opening scene where she's driving under a bridge and her passenger puts his hand on her leg. When she emerges on the other side of the bridge the guy is no longer in the car.

  • @grangeender1

Obviously a lesbian...No,seriously, I recall this episode, but remember there being two blokes. I'd settle for being thumped and dumped under a bridge if I could touch her thigh!

  • I loved Alexandra too, even in infants school - me not her ;)

  • Alexandra, I love you.....

  • I remember watching this show back in 1969 or so. I loved it.

  • I like the champions, it's one of my favorites. There will never be another like it.

  • The champions fue transmitida en Venezuela por Radio Caracas TV, en horario de la noche hasta entrados los años 70, gran serue de tv.

  • JUST CANT GET THAT SONG OUT OF MY HEAD

  • Didnt know this tv show exist

  • @wrigleywolf the champions, department S ,jason king, the persuaders, randall and hopkirk deceased, the saint , the avengers, the protectors, captain scarlet, ufo, thunderbirds, british television in the late sixties and early seventies was the best ever and has never been bettered ,

  • They got their powers from some old master in Tibet. The were like an investigative law enforcement team,to stop the ruthless mad schemers in London.

  • Alexandra Bastedo... my first love since I was 8!

  • @RockbertoRocks Oh, yeah, she was one of the reasons I never missed an episode. We had a teacher at my high school who could have been her sister; woman used to nearly stop conversation whenever she walked the hallways, lol.

  • So does the fountain in the titles have any significance?!

  • @yokai1968 It's the Jet d'Eau at Lake Geneva, where Nemesis has its HQ.

  • @ebutemetube Thanks for that! Perhaps I should start watching the show, that would help!

  • @yokai1968 You're welcome. Lol, perhaps I watch too much tv : )

  • Dojofan767-I am intrigued by your comment "kind of cute in an English sort of way" as an Englishman can you please elaborate.

  • OMG this takes me back! Myself and my sister would sneak down the stairs, so as not to wake our younger brother, to watch this show every week and when he got older we would play as the three characters. Happy days and happy memories!!

  • In the early 1970's, I sometimes could watch reruns of this on Saturday afternoons. The local TV station would alternate between the champions,. and the persuaders, with Roger Moore and Tony Curtis. As a "mature" elementary school child, I felt these programs taught me all I need to know about traveling in Europe. LOL

  • I.T.C was definitely the best TV production company in the U.K at the time.

  • I always thought that William Gaunt looked like a grown up Beaver Cleaver.

  • @ftsjr Oh he was kind of cute in an English sort of way...

  • Lyric:-

    Panties, take off your panties;

    Take off your panties and throw them away;

    wah ooh wah ooh ...

  • @ebutemetube someone has a life

  • @ebutemetube Hello. I work at ITV in an office in which we have the various ITV channels on TV's nearby. As a result, the 'The Champions' intro sequence is heard here frequently. The point of this message is that I will now make it my PERSONAL MISSION to ensure everyone in my office has your utterly fantastic lyrics lodged firmly in their brain whenever the tune plays. thank you.

  • @wideeye101 Oh no what have I done? Miss Bastedo will never forgive me!

Lol thank you very much, I'm flattered. At first glance I thought you were going to say, "I will now make it my PERSONAL MISSION to hunt you down!"

I have given Coronation Street's theme and Wagner's 'Ride of the Valkyries' the same treatment btw, at great personal risk I fancy : )

  • @ebutemetube Truly, they made me giggle. May I hear the other lyrics? And by 'hear' I mean 'read' I suppose.

PS - That mad bloke from X Factor wrote 'Ride of the Valkyries'? Wow!

PPS - I'm kidding with that 'PS' there

  • @wideeye101 Lol, you're a glutton for punishment.

    Coronation Street:-

    I've got no knickers on;

    I've got no knickers on...

    The Ride of the Valkyries:-

    Take off your panties, take off your panties;

Take off your panties and throw them away...

  • @ebutemetube Hmmm, i'm getting something of a theme from your work. It seems to me to be a comment on throwing off the oppressive shackles of Western capitalism in a post-Cold War society. And getting your knickers off.

  • @wideeye101 These lyrics were written long before the end of the Cold War, to satirize the promiscuity, fostered by the invention of the birth control pill. They could equally fit your analysis however : )

  • @ebutemetube hahahahahhahaahha ! sooo

  • @whirlyfan tee hee : ) Are you Japanese?

  • @ebutemetube Brilliant!!! She was fucking stunning wasn't she?

  • @xxxchrist1 lol thanks. Yes stunning!

  • @ebutemetube ...Why throw them away...Had they done something in them

  • Comment removed

  • @ebutemetube Errata: Actually it's "...wah ooh. Ret ...them away. then the bridge. Ret..."

  • Theme all too short!

Recently found the joys of swing music and this certainly swings!

  • I drive through Geneva regularly, and every time the Jet D'Eau erupts (normally eveyry 15 mintues) this theme tune immediately haunts me for the rest of the day

  • not sure

  • @reticulan5 Hard to believe the 2 guys were only 30 at thetime when everyone looked like their parents. We were all big fans in my 1967 Primary School .The Champions was the height of jet -set cool, all those foreign capitals ,countries AND superhuman powers ...Sigh!! Busy gorging myself on the box-set at the mo'.

  • Ive watched a few eps. these guys had a weird but cool chemistry

  • That lovely girl was she the one in Goldfinger that gets spray painted gold and dies because she slept with James Bond ?

  • No, that was a different girl, Shirley Eaton.

  • Thanks for that, that means they were both lovely

  • @reticulan5 was that alex bastedo?

  • This song in still game

  • The dreams Ive had over and with Alexandra Bastedo,What a woman,Now if memory serves she's got a sanctuary in england somewere

  • I remember this show, when no sci-fi was avail on tv , this was a one season summer replacement and quite good, as I recall,.

    Earlly X-Men!

  • You and me both - I thought she was gorgeous!

  • A great ITC series, Pity they didnt make more at the time. One of the best theme tunes ever

  • The Champions was a great series about superhuman secret agents.

  • I've never heard of this one. And produced by Monty Berman, the man behind The Baron! What a treat.

  • I've never heard of this show, ever.

  • You are joking, how old are you?

  • I'm lmost 50. I guess I jsut missed it or my parents watched something on another channel at that time. It never appeared in repeats either to my memory.

  • Even if you've never watched it, I'm shocked you've never heard of it!!! , if you are British, it is shown regularly now on

ITV4, or buy the DVD box set, it is one of the best programmes ever, and you are missing out on something really good.

  • Excellent!

  • A fantastic series just picked it up on dvd,Alexandra bastedo is absolutely yummy.

  • I hear there is a Champions US movie in the pipeline!

  • Pour moi, c'est le meilleur générique de toute l'histoire des séries TV brittaniques (et américaines confondus).

For me it's the best TV shows ever made in the serie cults TV history.

  • très bonne series,ca prendrais des gens comme ca pour détruire le new world order.

  • thanks for posting....this was on in the us on the abc network back in the 60's with man in a suitcase and the baron.......great show

  • Is it just me, or is it that so many 1960s tv series had two males that at least vaguely remind you of JFK and Bobby Kennedy? at :16, there is more than just a passing resemblance. at :19 William Gaunt looks ALOT like RFK...even down to the two having their hair parted as the Kennedys did. Also same thing in Lost in Space, where Prof Robinson is JFK to Major West's Bobby...and in Hawaii 5-0 where McGarrett is JFK and Dano is Bobby again. Coincidence?

  • In those days it was important to have a male lead in order to be sure the Americans would buy the show, The Kennedys were High profile/popular celebrities at the time, so it makes sense that a lot of Americans would try to emulate them.

  • That's the same Stuart Damon of the remake of Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Cinderella" and the soap opera "General Hospital".

  • loved this. they'd show it afternoons when i left school 85/86. tune was good. telly's rotten now. it's full of itself.

  • My favorite back in the day. Their ESP scenes were so charming to watch, so 60's. ;)

  • OMG!

I had forgotten about this show!

  • Ace post

  • What a great show and such a handsome cast!

Alexandra Bastedo is gonna trun up on the BBC's Eastenders, can't wait!

  • brilliant
