When I first typed the lyrics out, I was having difficulties keeping proper cadence with the singer when I sang along. I marked up the lyrics with commas to denote a pause between words, and the tilde (~) symbol denotes a mid-word pause / held note.

The capitalized words means to sing the word with emphasis and at a higher note. That is what it sounded like to me anyway, however I am not a musician or a music major.
