@Aliothemage This is only one side of this debate. There are also the Capitalist and Distributist sides to consider.
Besides, I believe he was implying that Because God is three entities in one person, it is likely if not mandatory that these three entities communicate to produce the world we live in. Therefore, if the Father, Son and Holy Spirit necessarily communicates between each other, perhaps God intended that man should need to communicate with his fellow man similarly?
Well, coming from non-indoctrinated perspective, that makes absolutely no sense. Religious nonsense doesn't belong in intellectual discussion. End of story.
Economics is not about solving inequality and poverty. They will always be there. And no economics is not about national health care as well. Even though he sounds like a "catholic", he sounds like a Marxist with all his caveats to political correctness.
@Clinias Economics is about meeting human needs and maximizing human potential, creativity and dignity. There are fundamental moral reasons we have an economy. Its not about greed, avarice, money, power and profit. Our moral compass in life is not a balance sheet.
And economics certainly is involved in the provision of health care, which is a right and not a privilege, or just another commodity.
