The GR 30 in combination with Gk 3 is the best choice! The GR 33 has a little better Soundmodul, but the Tracking is of the GR 33 is bad!.With the Gr 30,you can use other Software- instruments like from Spectrasonics and many others too via Midi,If You connect the GR 30 with a Yamaha Firewire- interface(GO 44 or 46) and a Computer,so you'll get a perfect running System.
nice, but if you try to play the GR33 over Midi, the Sounds in your Computer(Piano...)i mean, maybe you can hear some double tones, when you play the strings a little harder.
The GR 30 cam make it in every speed and dynamic of picking.
@brandon9271 Perhaps it is I don't know the gr 30 personally but I am sure both units offer great capabilities. However you need to spend considerable time at first to learn how to work on setting patch parameters not just running trough the patches on its bank. In regards to your early comment about gr 33 in particular if you go into a section were you set the envelop rate for the patch you want to set you should able to get a very decent tracking. Keep in mind that a piezzo pick up is a newer
@cellularautomata hi. wich roland? if you mean roland gr33, i dont know, because the latency of roland. but im not sure. but you can buy ax50 and to use an external expander, i did it and work perfectly
@shelyl tracking problems, i mean when you picks notes, it do not reconize the right note, this happend quite often if you dont have a ghost piezo, and this happend when you start to use the scales. by the rithm it worked good. gr33 has gr8 sounds, gr8 i guess too, but it can not to combinate all what you want, example gr33 you can bass and viola, synth and pad, gr20 let only do determinate things example bass and viola but not synth and pad, may only synth and piano etc. for track is betterGr20
I can use the effects (distortion, delay, reverb ..) in the sound of the guitar (not the synthesizer sounds) in the roland gr 33

Do you suppose you could use a 6 string bass for this unit?

Do you think the GR-33 is significantly better than the GR-30? I can get a GR-30 for about $200.. The GR-33 is about $350-$400 used..
