  • Hi J how painful is the bite off the ball python, i have 2 and they have been handled quite alot , never hissed at any one or tried to lash out or bite, yet.... keep up the good videos im subscribed to your channel , and look out for your latest thanks Shane uk

  • @shaneweightman It's not that bad... it's more of a shock that it happened, rather than painful!

  • Hey JT, Have'nt stop by in a while. Nice series well done:). It's funny i have 8 poss het axanthics that I will attempt to prove out for a friend of mine who has limited space. Long story short the early 2011 male axanthic I wll be using to prove out some of the hets just tagged me last night. My fault of course, your vid motivated me to tell this story lol.

  • All my ball pythons that I have in my rack will hiss at me when I first open the drawer, but only one of them seems to mind being handled. Just wondering if this is normal behavior or could something else be wrong? The rack is a Rhino rack controlled by a VE-100 thermostat and I use the same RB hide boxes you are using.

  • @wasispeeding1021 Ok nevermind, I guess I should have finished watching the video before I posted. My snakes act pretty much the same as all the ones you've shown and just seem to be nervous because they aren't sure what is going on at first.

  • Wow beautiful snake I want it, please check out my python and reptile collection in HD.

    Peace!!!

  • Hey I was wondering if u have a website where u sell some of ur baby ball pythons?

  • @bdnjv21 Yes... please go to my channel, the link to my site can be found there!

  • hi jeremy,

let me start by saying i love ur vids they are so factual and educational its great u love these animals and want to teach others how to care for them good work. also i have had my 9month old ball now for 2 months and he had a settling period of 2 weeks he is eating regularly i try to handle him every day if not every other day for a good 5-10 minits and his temps are spot on but he keeps striking at the wall of his cage wen i walk past or at me when i get him out what should i do?

  • @TheReptileking011 Thanks for the support! Does he have a hide box? Basically what he is saying is "OOH GOD WHY?!?!" Every time you walk in front of the cage, and he is very nervous about it. Cage = home... something around cage = predator. It will take some time for him to get used to it. try to not walk in front of the cage so much. Or move it to a part of the house with less human traffic.

  • @JandDReptiles yeah he has two one on the heat pad and one over the cool end ive hidden them under my substrate to make them look like burrows so its a bit more natural for him too maybe he is just a little defensive in nature i just had him out 5 minutes ago and put into practice the stuff you covered in this vid it seemed to work he was jumpy then calmed right down so ur obviously a man who knows his stuff ill keep doing it untill t stops working but hopefuly he will b ok now

  • @JandDReptiles oh and i have him and my other reptiles in the spare room i like to call the reptile room haha so it dont tend to walk ast unless im using the laptop

  • Nice vid as always. A lot of help for someone like me just beginning in having n breedin bps. But i have a question on breeding.. What size are ur males when u decide to breed em?

  • @bossthra you generaly dont want to start breeding until your males are in good health and fair size they have been bred before as small as 500gramms and 6 months old on some forums but i wouldnt recomend breeding until he is in excess of 1000grams and in good heath

  • @bossthra I never breed males under 400 grams. Even if they are already producing plugs. God for bid they go off feed at say 250 grams, and they are off feed for months burning themselves out breeding, it WILL spell disaster! 400 grams + is where I am comfortable!

  • I know with the head touching thing. I have a female adult ball python that really does not like her head being touched. So when my mom touched her on or near the head the snake jerked away really quickly. I told my mom it didn't try to bite her but she still cried.

  • @WTZReptiles yea, gotta understand face = sacred! LOL

  • Excellent video and information Jeremy and an awesome topic !!! I really love educational videos especially about our hobby. People find it strange that my deaf cat and Ball Pythons are best friends and curl up together and sleep on my bed. This has been going on for ten years with no negative behavior from either. You've got some killer looking Ball Pythons !!! People that never take their snakes out to handle them or work with them seldom learn to read body language.

  • @1softkiss Thanks so much! There is still so much people don't understand about these guys!

  • It seems like you guys are copying snakebytes

  • @bassmaster53197 Pretty sure I've covered this in the past....

    J and D Reptiles

  • @bassmaster53197 Except this is a lot more educational.

  • Do you still have carpets? Could you make a video comparing colouration, size, and characteristics of the different localities? Small pythons such as Royals and colubrids are fairly similar between species, but it seems that carpets have a lot of variation, but I cannot find much info on them.

    Thanks

  • @mutantflamerobotics Well, I can try to get a vid like that up.
