I've been to Ethiopia and traveled around a lot. Some people say Amhara are like Arabs but they have black skin, they definitely don't have hair like Arabs or Jews who have straight hair, they have beautiful African hair good for braiding and dreadlocks and afro. I don't really understand the argument, they black skinned, live in Africa..what more qualification you need to be African??? Those who are trying to claim Ethiopians are not African, you are wrong! There was a study done by Tishkoff in 2009 and the majority of the DNA of Ethiopians matched up those in sub Saharan Africa. A minuscule amount was European/Asiatic. Study also said that pairwise nucleotide genetic data shows Ethiopians cluster far more with Nubian, Cushitic, and other East/NE African populations cluster more with other Africans than with Europeans or Asians who cluster more together.
That study never sampled the main ethnic groups, they study was on southern minorities who ovbiosly have more "African ancestry", take a look for your self, tishkoff studied konso and burji people, not amharas or habeshas.

I've been to Ethiopia and traveled around a lot. Some people say Amhara are like Arabs but they have black skin, they definitely don't have hair like Arabs or Jews who have straight hair, they have beautiful African hair good for braiding and dreadlocks and afro. Those who are trying to claim Ethiopians are not African, you are wrong! There was a study done by Tishkoff in 2009 and the majority of the DNA of Ethiopians matched up those in sub Saharan Africa. A minuscule amount was European/Asiatic. Study also said that pairwise nucleotide genetic data shows Ethiopians cluster far more with Nubian, Cushitic, and other East/NE African populations cluster more with other Africans than with Europeans or Asians who cluster more together.

@WupeViasco What are you talking about? Many Ethiopians are black, maybe even most. As I said in my previous post; the term black doesn't literally mean "black", I am brown, but I am black. Even whites call Ethiopians black. For some reason I think you have a stereotypical view on who blacks are. Herodotus speaks of Ethiopians with wooly hair. Also, there are MANY works of art in Greece that pictures Ethiopians as "black". Don't be ashamed :)

However black really refers to dark skinned people of African descent (at least in my book).
