If the promoters want women's MMA to be taken seriously, they will force Carano (and Cyborg) to make weight in every fight. BOTH of them have a problem making weight. Either that or admit she's a naturally thick girl and bump her up to a 150 weight class.

Cristiane Santos will be the true test for her, If she wins that fight she'll deserve all the cred she gets. going to be tough though.
I think problem with Gina she has lot other things going off in her life, TV Appearances, American Gladiators and so on. I think if she focused more on training MMA and getting in shape, she be much better fighter.

She's essentially in the female equivalent of the heavyweight division.
In the male HW division, no one who saw Fedor vs Hong Man Choi was saying, "Oh, Choi's got a 100 pound weight advantage, poor Fedor!"
And no one was complaining when Brock Lesnar fought Randy Couture (with a 45 lb advantage) or Frank Mir (with a 25 lb weight advantage).
The problem isn't that Gina Carano weighs too much, it's that there aren't enough opponents to pick from in female MMA.

gimme a break. Take off the "hot babe" glasses already. Gina is overrated. There's little resemblance to Muay Thai. More like sloppy brawling. Look at the way Buakaw fights and look at this. Buakaw's techniques are clean, precise and almost choreographed. Compared to that Gina's movements look like garbage. The difference between amateur and professional is like night and day.

She is overrated. Still a good fighter but not anywhere near buakaws class. It's simple fact however that there isn't as much competition in woman's thai boxing and she has a big advantage in that she doesnt carry around any excess weight which a lot of her opponents do.
Always amazes me to see how many fatties there are in womans thai boxing.

I don't think any female boxer can rival the technique and power of a male Thai boxer. True there just isn't that much hype around women's Thai boxing, you just have to take it for what it's worth - fatties and skinnies alike.

I'm sorry but yes, she is overrated - if she was a man with the comparative power etc she wouldn't have a record like that because frankly, in terms of SKILL she doesn't match up to the men. It just so happens that the competition in womens thai boxing is much lower.

well i think one of the reason to why we have such exaggerated movements is that majority of us don't have that much strength so we add distance and speed to make make up for the lack of strength. Everything has it's pros and cons.
