  • bootcamp u better say pcbook

  • Dear fanboys. Nobody really gives a second thought about your opinion, mac users will use mac, pc users will use pcs. Just because you dont use it doesnt make it a bad machine, its just your opinion, so please stop flaming. Thank you

  • um btw with the new magic mouse that comes with the mac desktops actually has a left click and you can just plug in a mouse to the macbook to have a left click smart ones

  • Wow this preformance is like 13x better then my moms 1GB graphics card gaming computer.

  • @PatabookG5 macbooks have good graphic cards, however if your into gaming get a gaming laptop it can out-perofrm the most expensive mac...you just dont get the mac os(actually you can with a program like book camp for pc)..umm it wont look the same physicaly lol

  • @PatabookG5 fail com

  • @PatabookG5 doesnt care how much u have in this video graph mb

like i have only 256mb total

  • jsut go to system preferences and go to mouse and activate right click or 2nd button

  • Macs are getting better and better, however, I could build a pc with decent specs for half the price of a Mac.

  • u mean u can build a desktop better than a laptop, or r u trying to compare a desktop pc against the mac pro,

  • I'm comparing the prices of both of them. Macs are and have always been more expensive than PC's with the same spec's.

  • more expensive but with different specs and technology -.-

maybe you don't know that windows programmers use a mac book pro for work xD

oh, and Vista has been built on a Mac.

  • So? They're more expensive machines that are going to be used for the same general stuff that windows is used for. That's all that most people will see. Which is why windows will always be ahead of mac market wise.

  • I got Win7 on my Macbook, and Games like Portal won't start because of too less Graphics Power.

  • macbooks are alright for games but mac computers arnt that good for games better for work.

  • you're totally right. i own a mac and i love it, but there's many gaming limitations. macs have the hardware, they have the technology, the performance and all that stuff, but no one takes advantage of it because of the small market share. and, when they get old, it isn't as easy to upgrade i guess... especially mine which is a laptop.

  • Upgrading is easy. I don't get why people think it's hard (unless you're talking about the unibody macbooks).

I'll sum up how to do it right here.

    1. Remove the battery of your macbook.

    2. Unscrew the "L" bracket on the rim of the area where the battery was.

    3. For removing the RAM, pull those two levers toward you. For removing the hard drive, pull that white tab (you'll find it, hopefully). The white tab is attached to the hard drive. See? I was able to fit the instructions in a utube comment.

  • Well with Windows installed you can play any game on a Mac that will work on a PC

  • yes but on macs they dont have the great capibility for games that a windows does and that 1 click mouse sucks.

  • The mouse doesn't have any buttons, It's touch sensitive, and you can also use any mouse you like. ;)

  • That a windows does? We won't listen to you. You sound like an idiot.

First off, macs DO have right click. On a macbook, you hold two fingers down on the trackpad and click. On a mighty mouse, you right click like on any other mouse. Like TroopidedRyanT saud, you can use any other mouse, dolt.

Second off, macs DO have the power to play these games. WIndows doesn't matter, it's what's hardware you got. Windows is just an operating system. You CAN run windows on a mac.

    Stop being stupid.

  • 1 click mouse? oO

are you stuck in 1993? :D

  • macs come with a 1 click mouse so you have to go buy a 2 click and pcs are just better ask anyone they rein supream.

  • ehm... no XD

    i have 4 macs, 1 is old, it's like a 1993 mac, one is 2001, and the other 2 are 2008/2009

ONLY the 1993 one has a one click mouse, because the rest of them have a 2 click mouse.

the Mighty Mouse (from apple) is a FOUR click mouse, and the Magic Mouse (from apple) is a TWO click mouse, but with multi-touch technology.

so, i'm sorry but mac does not come with a 1 click mouse xD

  • and please... Bill Gates himself said macs are better machines, so please don't be silly and don't compare a Vaio against a MacBook Pro..

you really don't know how powerful a mac can be.

  • really so im gonna pay more money for a mac when a pc is actually better but your obviously a mac fanboy so good luck with that.

  • @ReyAXS there better machnes no he didnt lol that would put him under billions idiot

  • @ReyAXS You are right, this is true. Microsoft produces computer software (hence micro"soft"). Windows runs on a Mac better than most usual PCs.

  • @ReyAXS all macs have 1 click mice

  • Well - First of all if you see any lagg here.. Then its because its a older -- (MACBOOK ALUMINIUM IS OUT)

Also -- I am quite sure you can game better than on a PC with a Mac Pro..

  • no games like counter srike or wow dont work well too much lag and not enough video power.

  • Wow is for Macbook too!

    And its running without problems.!

  • You got your comment mixed up. PCs are usually the work computers. Apple's ads are right, the best thing PCs can do is business work.

Plus, a Macbook is part of the Mac Line. You just said macs are ok for gaming, but aren't that good for gaming. How could the macbooks be better, anyway? Desktop macs are normally more powerful.

  • Wow macs are good! but it costs alot i guess :P

Btw when i play portal and i put on 1280*1024 res there is a black line on the right anyone knows what this is?

  • wait did u keep the mac osx or install windows?

  • nice I'm getting this game and gmod for my blackbook sweet.

  • What FPS did you get?

  • Use the gravity gun, I use it alot.

The screams is just satisfying when they're on fire.

  • nice

  • Could someone explain why HL2 on a Macbook is such a big deal? The mouse or something?

  • so?

  • i dont really care, i just want to know how he did it

  • he ran it through crossover games possibly or used a cider port

  • guys, guys, if HL2 can run on a geforce 2 (and ive done it before with 40 fps, without shaders), then it will run on intel graphics, ok? :)

  • how could you play it without crashing... i just crash so often..

  • DIsabel autosave... You will still be able to manually save.

  • actually just type the +mat something...

would be able to autosave and everything just fine

  • how well would HL2 run a 2,4 Penryn with 4 GB ram, with the GMA X31000 integrated card, in the new macbook.

  • decently, not great, as the x31000 would be the weakest link, but it would run, but not exceptionally. however newer games like the orange box would perform much worse.

i would personally get 2gb of ram, and instead go for the pro, if your resolute you truly want a mac.

  • yeah...overkill on the ram doesn't make that much of a difference...

  • wow, all i can find is a video of about 20fps on a maxed out macbook.

    that doesnt count.

and youtube is not a reliable source.

and this is not opinions, everything i have said is true.

you stop with your opinions, and i will stop with my FACTS OF FURY

on another note, wanna play TF2?

  • I can't, my connection sucks. Verizon screwed us over with FiOS.

  • yeah i heard that service kinda sucks.

    oh well.

    *ninja conversation change*

  • lastly, let me state that i am by no means a "windows fan" and am currently running all three major oses, XP, OSX, and ubunto.

all have their pros and cons, ranging from compatibility, speed, and ease of use.

their is no one "perfect" os.

osx is by design biased against games, due to restrictions on the hardware.

  • ubuntu is pretty nice

  • yes, yes it is.

  • yes it is i have it....finally have a dual boot with xp and ubuntu..only problem is that i have a crappy oem-overclocked ati x1950pro...it has an anti overclock feature secretly built in...when ever it starts running 3d in an overclocked state it crashes

  • i have a x1950 also, its easy to OC.

increase the fan speed and ramp the OC down a bit.

get it to a point where a game can run for an hour, than ramp it down a little.

better yet, don't OC, its not really worth it.

  • well...if i get to 620mhz (core) and run 3d for a few seconds...it goes black....ive tried everything...not really a problem...because im building in a few months

  • then clock it lower.

if that happens, its too high.

like i said, get it to a point where it doesn't go black, then ramp one more notch down.

  • i know i have...except with ubuntu...how to you underclock in linux? i dont want to have to resort to flashing my card...

  • sorry, i donut have much experience with linux....

maybe a help forum or ATI's website.

  • well im a noob in linux...learning...ive found a tool called rovclock...

  • nvm i decided to flash my card and it worked like a charm it runs at 594 (core) and 695 (mem)

these clocks make it run stable without any artifacts and theres not too much of an fps decrease...

  • awesome, hope it keeps working. :D

  • the next thing im thinking of doing is ubuntu on xbox 360...i have an old one....just took it apart

  • you mean like a softmod?

personally i would try it on a original xbox first, but thats just me.

  • i ment a softmod+hardware mod

ps. ive done it on an xbox 1...then when i had that beautiful system...power surge....my pc and tv had suppressors...not xbox....:(..that was back in march of 2007

  • oh, that sucks.

    D:

    ive been there.

well i wish you the best of luck, and hope your new xbox doesn't rrod.

  • well i also have found another reason why most xboxes might rrod its all about the 8 memory chips

  • really?

you mean the RAM, or storage?

  • i meant ram.. there is 8 chips... 4 on the top and 4 on the back...4 are used for graphics and 4 are used for system..there is a total of 512mb of ram on the entire console, 2 ram chips are heatsinked without any thermal compound 2 are exposed and 4 are heatsinked using a think layer of metal (the case) with almost no thermal dissipation

  • huh, you think they would have gone for some nice heat syncs.

they only cost like 1$ each, and that would be a lot less for mass production.

  • i know...the problem about the back is that there is barely any space...they should redesign the mobo

  • yeah, but then they will probably break something else.

i think a larger case would be cool.

  • yeah...or smaller technology...

  • my Sony Vaio N21M/W laptop has 1.86ghz core duo proccessor, 1gb ram, directx10 and a gma950 graphics card with 224mb memory. i also have windows vista. Will half life 2 work on my laptop anyone?? plz reply, Thanks.

  • with the gma 950 it will probably have shitty framerates unless you turn down most of the settings, but it will run

  • if ur computer is so good LEARN TO MAKE ACTUAL VIDEOS ON IT!

  • can anyone tell me the spec of this macbook in this vid?

  • the best part about it, i have a mac and everyone i know who owns a mac never says anything bad about PC, it's unexpressed that we know our computers are better, beautiful, and functional, compared to a PC user, who i often hear trashing macs. You claim the PC is a good machine for a good price. I never see people complain about other people buying mig macs when they're stuck on the dollar menu, unless they have a reason to feel insecure

  • How quaint. How about buying a real computer now instead of these Fisher Price "My First Computer" pieces of incompatible, pretentious, expensive horseshit?

    Just a thought.

  • then why did you even watch the video? hows it feel to be Bill Gates' whore?? cant feel too good.

  • Oh yeah because Apple aren't, and have never been, complete corporate whores themselves, right? They're actually crafted by eco-friendly pixies who stand totally against EVIL Gates giving 37.6billion to charity. How silly of me for forgetting that fact. 2000USD for a MacBook Pro is a fucking rip. Won't even BOTHER mentioning the iPhone or MP3 players with abysmal bass quality compared to Creative Labs, etc. Macs are only good for emo faggots using photoshop. For gaming they're worthless. End of.

  • LOL..."actually crafted by eco-friendly pixies"...

    EPIC!

  • Uh... what's not compatible about a computer that comes standard with a program that lets you run both OSX and ANY Windows OS? and if you actually go on the website and look at the prices for what you get... its not some piece of junk delltop,HP,compac, piece of Ethiopian machinery

  • Oh please. Compare specs between a Macbook and any laptop at a similar price. Apple is notorious for staying with old hardware and charging the same price for it. Infact, the MacBook Air is their sorry excuse for not updating their existing MacBook /MBPro models.

  • bah. you forgot many others.

also, giving you the option to BUY another os because yours sucks is not a "plus" pc's would run OSX more (some can) if apple didnt have such faggotry as having the actual cpu require authentication. however this can be bypassed.

so, what you suggest is to buy a computer, then uninstall the one thing that makes it unique, then claim its better?

    fail.

  • You're wrong on so many levels. First, you don't uninstall Mac OSX to install Windows. Second, the fucking CPU doesn't need authentication, Windows does. Third, Windows doesn't support OSX, even with software. Fail. BTW: This video was made to show that Macs can play games too, I'm just replying to all the unnecessary hate by Windows lovers. If you don't agree with a video, don't watch it. The only reason people install Windows is for the extra shit. Fuck off.

  • no, your stupid.

their both x86, meaning the same parts.

secondly, if your replacing osx, why waste hard drive space.

also osx DOES need authentication from the cpu to run, not windows.

    get your facts strait.

lastly, windows is an os, so how could a os support a os?

a PC is the same as a mac, except it has OSX on it.

    epic fail.

also thats like saying if you dont like

    Hitlers speeches just ignore him.

  • Your comment:

  • How dumb. How about posting a real comment now instead of that retarded piece of ignorant, untrue, uninformed horseshit?

    Just a thought.

  • do you realize how freaking ironic what you just said is?

  • Incase you didn't notice, HE'S RUNNING THIS ON A FUCKING LAPTOP! You need a desktop to run Half Life 2 with Windows.

  • o orlly?

    check out cyberpowerpc

    ibuypowerpc

or any other goddamn gaming laptop.

    they play CRYSIS.

  • A Mac laptop can play Crysis. Look it up. You don't need to uninstall Mac OSX to install windows by the way.

  • you know what, you show me it running at very high at 60fps, and i will believe you.

    until then, i call bullshit.

    and yes, i know that.

  • You smell of people who die whilst shitting out on your face

  • I am so sorry to hear about your mental illness green245day.

just so happens that macs are most widely used by professional graphic designers, music edittists and millions of others.

They are incredible pieces of equipment!!

  • steve jobs you amazing

  • hey im thinking of switching from a pc to a mac, but i want to play games on my mac.

should i get the macbook or the macbook pro.

p.s. i don't intend to break open my laptop to put any parts into it either. im leaving it stock. reccomendations?

  • If you have enough $ you would buy macbook pro. it have Geforce 8600M. Macbook have GMA X3100 (a bit slower)

    Half-life 2 test:

    Macbook Pro, 2.2GHz, 2GB, 8600M GT, Lepoard + XP, : 60~70 fps

    Macbook, 2.0GHz, 1GB, GMA X3100, Lepoard + XP : around 25~40 fps

  • A bit slower? That's an understatement. =,=''

  • how wel would it run on a macbook with 2.4GHz 2GB ram?

  • If you want to play games get a Macbook Pro hands down. Used a Macbook and own a Pro, the difference is huge.

  • geeks

  • Oh, hello. I'm glad to see that you have decided it worth your time to come to a video just to call everybody a "geek." Yes, I am a geek, I can read, and I use a computer. Is that your definition of geek? I really do hope I meet your expectations as a geek, its my life-long goal! (In case you can't figure it out, its sarcasm ;)

  • not you, the others there are speaking on a disgusting manner

  • *are awesome, thank you very much. Yes, yes, you will take butter on that English Muffin, won't you.

*To complete the statement said by danieladmko

  • Do you want fries with that? :P

  • uh okay. I can play this on my PC laptop at 1280x800 and its 4 years old. What's your point? Did you have to jump through hoops to make it work on your mac? That's cute

  • I think it's a video aimed at showing people who were wondering what hl2 is like on a mac.

  • ha ha ha, I love dumb people.

  • can someone here actually make a fucking comment about the video?

  • Translating, simulating, whatever you wanna call it, it's still BRIDGING the gap that the environment doesn't provide, and since we're talking about hosting x86 architecture in an x86 environment and not on a better one, there's only gonna be a LOSS of time in that bridge. ps. I do multi-logith-var complexity analysis 18 hours a day. in other words, i know a lil more about that play button than what you might expect. MCs and BMath here ;>)

  • "t's still BRIDGING the gap that the environment doesn't provide"

So do DRIVERS and API's dumbass. Come to think about it, SOFTWARE fits that description too! >:O

"i know a lil more about that play button than what you might expect."

You failed that test when you called Crossover an Emulator.

Seriously, if you don't know the difference between a compatibility layer and an Emulator then you've lost credibility right there.

  • Ps. Don't attack a definition in an argument. You can call ambiguity if it's too ambiguous, but i clearly stated what an emulator was in my arguments (the real definition, of course you can find it in a dictionary), but for my argument use the definition if gave, because with it, the argument is still valid :)

I.e. define a car as specifically non-vans, then make an argument about cars, it IS still acceptable. Even if your defn of a car disagrees with mine.

  • " Don't attack a definition in an argument."

    Why not?

A Emulator and a Compatibility layer ARE two different things.

  • "That article is wrong."

    What Article?

"If a compatibility layer took no time, then translating/interpreting would take no time."

Where did I say 'no time'?

"that a compatibility layer takes no time, is false. "

A compatibility layer doesn't take the time and resources that an EMULATOR takes. Not even close.

  • "MCs and BMath here ;>)"

Right, and I'm supposed to believe that a 20 year old guy who DOESN'T know the difference between an emulator and a Compatibility layer and a EMULATOR has a Masters in Computer Science?! XD

On top of that, you're supposed to have a Bachelors in Mathematics??

So, what you're saying is that you're 20 years old and have already completed 5-8 years of college, yet you DON'T know the difference between a compatibility layer and an Emulator?

  • Alright, how about this. we'll let you call this Crossover thing a non-emulator, for the sake of this discussion. Whether i agree or not is irrelevant, but we'll identify it as the latter here. (cont'd)

  • I wrote the rest in a message... this was getting a little too ambiguous and loosly-tied to be a proper argument. That and the 500 comment thing was just pissing me off :P

  • "this was getting a little too ambiguous and loosly-tied to be a proper argument."

Right, so you send me a thesis that doesn't conflict with anthing that I have said here. Yippee

  • "Alright, how about this. we'll let you call this Crossover thing a non-emulato"

No, Crossover is a COMPATIBILITY LAYER! That is what it should be called!

    *n0sc0p35 takes a drink*

  • I'm not compelled to tell youtube how old i really am. I graduated @ age 78! That makes me 81! Why is that relevant? I thought proper arguments were non-discriminatory. But thanks for the support. Your immature reasoning reduce the credibility of your conclusions. Heh i could have a field day stripping this one apart. But I'll give you the luxary of me being too tired for that now, and we'll leave that comment of yours as no more than a petty insult to my education.

  • "I'm not compelled to tell youtube how old i really am. I graduated @ age 78! That makes me 81"

    Oh, that explains a lot!

    Your senile! ^_^

So, why did you put 20 years old, hmm? on the prowl for some fresh barely-legal booty?

    Take it to myspace grandpa.

"Your immature reasoning reduce the credibility of your conclusions."

    Immature reasoning?

Look you old fogey. I know that back in the stone age, people used to call things anything they want, but this is the 21st century Mr. Methuselah.

  • "Your senile! ^_^"

    Correction:

    You're senile! ^_^

  • you don't give a fuck for the elderly.

    go tell your grandma.

  • Alright, NEW DRINKING GAME!

Everytime a Canadian says something outlandish, take a drink!

  • This is one of the most drawn out things I've ever seen online.

SlickersterDave, sometimes you say a wrong thing, WINE calls itself a comp layer, yes it's software, how else would it be on a PC? It's ok

You've not got a computer science degree of any level, especially not masters, we learn this stuff in high school in Scotland. You also don't argue like I've seen graduates do, admittedly my background is law not science but it still seems odd after that much time in an academic environment

  • B-but, I'm not SlicksterDave...

Anyway, I agree with everything you said.

  • I ended up getting it to work on my mac using crossover. It runs very fast and I can play online. And to SLICKSTERDAVE, your ignorant because you posted a comment about me (mac users) not knowing what wine is but I clearly stated that I was using crossover (wine). But you wouldn't know anything about mac programs cuz your too busy fixing your pc.

  • What emulator are you running? Crossover? Parallels? VMWare Fusion? Boot Camp?

  • "What emulator are you running? "

    Crossover=Compatibility layer

    Parallels= Virtual Machine

    VMWare Fusion=Virtual Machine

    Boot Camp=Dual Boot solution

    None of those are emulators.

  • Ah, well, that's good to know, but it still doesn't answer my question. What, then, are you using to run HL2 on your MacBook?

  • Crossover Mac Can do it.

    ht tp://w ww. codeweavers. c om/products/cxmac/

  • "But, because you're mac users, you will NEVER understand this."

I understand that the term Distro refers to LINUX. OSX doesn't used DISTRO as a terminology because there is ONLY ONE OSX!

I'm a Mac user and I know what WINE is. You act like it's a secret!

I also know that this game will run with the help of a compatibility layer called Crossover Mac.

BTW, the guy who made this vid never said that he used boot camp.

  • If you're running Crossover, it's STILL an emulator. You SHOULDN'T need an emulator. Emulating a game is the worst idea in the world. It's increases the memory access times necessary for high performance, making it less playable. Ps, distro is short for distribution - it doesn't apply to just linux. SunOS/Linux/Unix etc... hell I'd even put dos in there. You're a mac user is so that your simple mind doesn't have to get all this! So go with your expensive marketing stunt of a stupid thing

  • "If you're running Crossover, it's STILL an emulator."

    Crossover IS NOT AN EMULATOR!

    It's a compatibility layer!

It translates the code that the game is written in into something that UNIX can understand!

    It's NOT EMULATING ANYTHING DUMBASS!

    READ!

    ht tp://e n. wikipedia. o rg/wiki/Compatibility_layer

Anyway, You're just a stupid PC user, so I'll understand if your limited mind is incapable of understanding all of this!

  • I'll quote it here:

"A compatibility layer is a term that refers to components that allow for non-native support of components.

In software engineering, a compatibility layer allows binaries for a foreign system to run on a host system. This translates system calls for the foreign system into native system calls for the host system. With some libraries for the foreign system, this will often be sufficient to run foreign binaries on the host system."

    continued...

  • "Examples include:

the Linux compatibility layer on the BSDs, which allows binaries built specifically for Red Hat Linux to run on BSDs

    Wine, which runs some Microsoft Windows binaries on Unix-like systems using a program loader and the Windows API implemented in DLLs;

Windows XP's use of compatibility layers to attempt to better run Windows 98 and MS-DOS applications;"

BTW Crossover Mac is basically an OSX implementation of WINE. (in case you didn't know, Wine Is Not an Emulator)

  • "A compatibility layer avoids both the complexity and the speed penalty of full hardware emulation. Some programs may even run faster than the original, e.g. some Linux applications running on FreeBSD's Linux compatibility layer were often held by advocates to perform better than the same applications on Red Hat Linux."

  • Well then you need to check your sources better, because that argument is completely wrong.

""A compatibility layer avoids both the complexity and the speed penalty of full hardware emulation"". That would only be so true if the compatibility layer were not, in fact, a piece of software. But a compatibility layer IS software, as is your crossover. Therefore they both inherit all the problems that a software environment entails. If it runs across your cpu, it called software.

  • "hat would only be so true if the compatibility layer were not, in fact, a piece of software."

look up the definition of compatibility layer and cry.

  • Here's the definition that you provided. "In software engineering, a compatibility layer allows binaries for a foreign system to run on a host system.".

See the word software? I'll leave the rest of this one to you.

  • "See the word software? I'll leave the rest of this one to you."

A compatibility layer IS software. I certainly didn't SAY it wasn't.

But a compatibility layer IS NOT an emulator!

A compatibility layer isn't EMULATING anything!

That's why it has a different name! BECAUSE IT'S DIFFERENT!

  • See?

A Software compatibility layer has NONE of the problems that you complain about, techtard.

EMULATION deals with simulating a totally different environment within your computer. This includes HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE!

Crossover Mac isn't simulating ANYTHING. It's translating the code that the Windows game is written in, into something that OSX can understand.

Next tim I say something isn't an emulator, just STFU and move along.

  • That article is wrong. If a compatibility layer took no time, then translating/interpreting would take no time. But the latter is definitely false, so its premise, that a compatibility layer takes no time, is false. It increases the length of your pipeline, therefore adding more time to the execution (see inbox). (cont'd)

  • Don't criticize my definition, that's not the way to disprove someone's argument. when you get in a disagreement about definitions, discuss it, then agree or agree to disagree. Provide points of reference for EACH of your definitions. Seriously though, this is a PRIME example why youtube and most of the internet could learn how to argue RATIONALLY. Anger and pathetic "Yes it is no it isnts" don't go anywhere rationally.

  • "Don't criticize my definition"

    Why not? It is incorrect.

"that's not the way to disprove someone's argument."

That's a way to show a lack of credibility on you part.

"this is a PRIME example why youtube and most of the internet could learn how to argue RATIONALLY"

I guess rationally means ignoring you grasping for straws right?

  • No, Crossover is WINE. WINE is not an emulator it is an implementation of the Windows API for UNIX. And while I am at it I have to say that bootcamp isn't an emulator it merely lets you dual-boot your computer. So it is running Windows natively not emulated. Wait... why am I correcting a YouTube comment? The people who post them are morons. Which makes me a moron for posting this... Odds bodkins!

  • Crazy, man. I've got my Black MacBook in Boot Camp and when I try to run CS:S, it freezes up before the program fully loads. I have 1GB of RAM. Perhaps the 2GB is the trick? I'd really love to get this going on my Mac.

  • The accelerator in the MacBook doesn't support the default dx9 environment. to run CS:S you need to type in "-dxlevel 8.0" I suggest "-dxlevel 70" It'll work with 1GB but the framerate will be crap.

  • I have a mac book pro and crossover and I'm having trouble installing it. I get everything installing up until disk one finishes and it asks to insert disk 2. The program is still technically using the disk so it won't let me eject disk one so that I can insert disk 2. I don't know if this happened to you, or if you know a way around it, but I would love some help so I don't have to try and return Half Life 2. Thx.

  • "I get everything installing up until disk one finishes and it asks to insert disk 2. The program is still technically using the disk so it won't let me eject disk one so that I can insert disk 2."

    Damn, that's crazy.

  • Is this the 2.4ghz 256mb gpu Macbook Pro or the 2.2 with the 128mb?

    I really want a decent notebook :P

  • sorry disregard that comment, i didn't read properly.

  • "Is this the 2.4ghz 256mb gpu Macbook Pro or the 2.2 with the 128mb?"

    Neither.

It is clearly a Macbook. those use Intel GMA950 integrated GPU's I think they have 64MB of video ram.

ANY macbook pro will run this game much better.

  • Gabe Newell is God.

  • Runs Fast as HELL...

  • The Source engine is very forgiving when it comes to graphics cards, as it relies on the CPU more than the GPU (in comparison to other engines), so I can see that this would work. On to install on my MacBook, then :)

  • Its nice to now that a macbook realy can run good games in actualy good quality.

Im also gonna have a macbook in a copple of days, and its gonna be a 2.16 GHz and 2 gb ram.

    Nice video dude ;)

  • i don't have HL2, but i was planning on buying it soon... :D and the MacBook you described is the one i got too!

  • Macbooks can't run bf2. The GMA 950 video card doesn't work with it.

  • hey, how many FPS are you getting?

  • what is the detail and stuff set at? it looks very smooth especially for GMA

  • I'm getting one. I need to stop obsessing and just get it so I get more into coding again. Thank you for the video.

  • HL2 isn't available for Mac, but this is likely on Windows XP using Boot Camp.

  • True, even though Crossover Mac is said to run HL2 as well. Tho this is most likely Boot Camp.

    Still something to think about.
