He got jumped badly by Suge Knight in the studio after questioning him about getting denied publishing rights for producing Dr. Dre's "Keep Their Heads Ringin" which had just gone Gold. Soon after he left Death Row Records. He also produced "U Better Recognize," and "Natural Born Killaz" without any publishing either. Suge robbed him of royalties as he did most of his artists. Overall a brilliant producer and backbone of many Death Row hits.

Sneed was from Pittsburg an didn't have any beef with the East coast but Suge had him beat up anyway. It's also told that Pac added in a few licks as well to show Suge how loyal he was to him. Last I heard he had brain surgery an many believed it was from that beating.

That's just rumor. I know someone close to the situation and Sam getting jumped was definitely over questioning Suge about royalty money. Everyone knows royalties is where the real money is in music. Suge knew that too- that's why Death Row's catalog is STILL worth millions. At the time, Suge was paying $25,000 per beat with no royalties. Many producers were robbed, including Sam Sneed, Dj Quik, and Daz Dillinger who did countless tracks but production credit was given to Dr. Dre.

As a matter of fact they say the sugery he had a few years back might have been from reprocussions from the beating. Suge robbed everybody including Pac. Dre was getting the credit but pretty soon he left with nothing. In the 'Rolling with Dre' book by Bruce Williams they even told Sneed not to go over there, but he did
