As part of the postwar process for the Second World War, it was confirmed that Takeshima was part of Japanese territory by the San Francisco Peace Treaty, which came into force on April 28, 1952.

Since then, Japanese government proposed to refer this issue to the International Court of Justice twice, but Korean government refused to do so. Korean government knows well the fact that their argument will not withstand in the legal process.

Let us know if you are ready to refer it to ICJ.

Wikipedia disagrees and any edits made to try and correct it will be discarded as wrong information by a Japanese user. Koreans dont place claims upon Tsushima Island because there are many Japanese people living there and it would only make matters worse. Dokdo however is Korean Territory

And for the matter of military use, Japan would have more area of effect in its Western side and they would be able to patrol military vessels without requiring permission from Korea. also, Japan consumes a LOT of fish. so much that even the total amount of fish caught domestically and imported is not enough, by gaining the seas around Dokdo, it provides Japan with more fishing grounds.

that's the whole point of colonies. when the british took over india and the french did to indochina, the native indians and indochinese (laotians, cambodians, vietnamese) were called "subjects of the Royal Crowns" of the UK and France respectively. Likewise, Koreans under Japanese rule were forced to change their names and revoke their korean ethnicity.
