  • Shit! Damn he left em!

  • this is good quality for '97

  • That's a nice crossover!!!

  • if thats traveling then lebron shouldnt be in the league

  • ILY Ai!!!!!! MY FAV PLAYA

*VOTE MONTA ELLIS 2012 ALL STAR*

  • he didnt even carry or palm the ball that was a legeit legal crossover....the ref just felt sorry for terrel brandon

  • dam he was srsly to nasty for the game

  • Sickest crossover.. Next is Tim Hardaway. Period.

  • the offical noticed that brandon did not have ankle insurance, good call ref

  • iverson practiced taht everyday

  • AI gas always been ill w/ the crossover!!! Imma always be a fan!

  • Big ai fan but everybody who plays pro ball knows thats not a legal crossover

  • @Tattooz79 why not??? His hand stays on top of the ball, at the very least he's pushing it forward. The only thing illegal about this play is Allen Iverson, a name that's synonymous with being a bad boy, is doing it. There wouldn't be a problem at all If Jordan, Magic or even Bird, had introduced this to the game, they would have been praised for their creativity and innovation.

  • @Zhone14 it had nothing to do with him being named Iverson and everything to do with as you said, it not being done a whole lot. How would the refs have preconceived ideas about him when he was a rookie.

  • @NatsCapsSkinsWiz I get what you're saying but really? He was already characterized as a bad boy coming out of georgetown due to fights and jail time he received prior. Not to mention being a #1 draft pick, of course the refs, the nba & the fans had preconceived notions about him.

  • @Tattooz79 Why is that not legal? Is it because he carried the ball?

  • he learned the crossover from Pepe Sanchez but he put his flair on it he said it himself

  • @poccetz no he didnt it he learned it from Dean Barry a guy he played with in college, he said it himself

  • What about now, refs? What about now?

  • is not violation! O.o

  • this is the greatest crossover you gonna ever see

beating moses crosses the red sea

  • Damn ima be like him onday

  • @MoeFe terrel brandon ? trolololo

  • I remember back then they had never seen a crossover like that. The referees just used to call it a carry.

  • Awesome shoes

  • foul! wait no no 2 fouLS!

  • carry over

  • MJ did that all the time. I guess the ref was going to teach the rookie a lesson.

  • Thats not palming if you know how to dribble.. It just came so happened it was way to fast..

  • allen iverson always does his crossover like that, not palming!

  • @jayjoetube14 - just because he always does it doesn't mean it's not palming. Eventually refs just gave up calling it. But he does indeed palm every time he crosses over.

  • @jaraha

shouldn't be called palming though.. should be lifting instead, coz touching the ball with palm is legal

  • hey guys Lebron traveled haha i just made that up lol

  • if you look closely lebron traveled

  • THAT COULDN'T BE HIS ROOKIE YEAR CUZ HE CROSSED JORDAN WHEN HE HAD THE NUMBER 23

  • @Funny225Guy What are you saying???

  • Refs hated on Iverson his entire career. That's why he didn't do this cross in his later years because the referees kept blowing the whistle

  • check out BILLIE JOLENE! she's a chain smoking, thunderbird wine drinking hot mess diva on the look out for a man. just type in billiejolene1 thanks, enjoy.

  • the only reason the ref stopped that play is because he realized Terrell Brandon didnt have ankle insurance, good call ref!

  • the refs werent used to seeing ppl gettin fucked up like that , so hes like wait something s wrong..

  • @issabaws Lol it was like the alley oop in semi pro

  • How can that be a travel he's still dribbling the ball? If youre dribbling the ball you can skip, hop, shuffle your feet all you want. The question is whether or not its palming or a discountinued dribble. Looks pretty legal to me.

  • @koreamoku yeah definitely legal. One thing I loved about AI's crossover was that it really wasn't palming. It just had that illusion.

  • @koreamoku the called carry

  • iverson had the deadliest crossovers

  • I guess technically it is a carry but seriously, who dribbles with their hand just on top of the ball. This aint the 50's or 60's when everybody dribbled with just one hand. To me a carry is when your hand is underneath the ball. But the side? They should let that go.

  • Back when the officials actually blew their whistles on close calls. I don't even think whistles are issued to refs anymore for their standard uniform.

  • Terrell Brandon was a great player at this time. Allen Iverson crossed him over into forgotten land.

  • fuckkk, ai just crossed my eyes lol

  • maybe it was a violation because he completely broke the dudes ankles

  • If they called a carry, it is wrong. He did travel, though. The shuffling of his feet was a violation.

  • @eshnajizzle Was it a travel..? He pivots on his right, and shuffles his right before dribbling again, but his left doesnt touch the ground untill he crosses...? Im not 100% sure on the rules there...

  • @freddii89

It is really close, but the thing that makes the shuffle illegal is the lifting of his right foot just before the second dribble. His steps are right-dribble-right-left-(pick up right)-dribble-right. Now, it is questionable whether or not his foot was off the ground. Off -> travel, On -> legal. I think it was off, or at least a slide.

Purely technical, though. No one should complain on a travel this close. It gave him no real advantage - sick move all the way!

  • it doesnt even look like he palm the ball it just looks like he has big hands

  • this was before steve mix basically turned against the 76ers and rooted for the other team

the crowds in cleveland were always real tough on iverson. seemed like they always played there on a saturday night

  • if anything he traveled...

  • when is PALMING called anymore?!

  • @Thefraggot i know right, kobe palms the ball on every dribble lol

  • When ever i did that in highschool the ref's used to call me for 'palming' or 'carrying the ball'.

  • @888duane i know they do it all the time, i mean just let us play the dam game

  • @888duane That was why I just stuck to jabs and plain old drives to the basket in HS, I hated getting called for "palming", they called carrying so much then that crossovers were a waste of time and just something for pick up ball. Sorry but LOL at guys who kept doing it though even though ref kept calling it.

  • @somedudewithatan i see your point man but dont stop doing it just cuz the fag refs kept calling it a carry. Modify it and change it up believe me it can be done. Technically Iverson never stopped doing the crossover, he just couldnt do it the same way the did at Georgetown and his rookie year

  • travelling or double dribble?

  • @pokeken32 double... it's considered palming/carrying. so technically it's like you dribble, then hold on to the ball, then dribble again. bullshit call though.kobe palms too, even on normal dribbling w/o pressure.

  • wow

  • Damn imagine trying to stay in front of that! You just have to back peddle and hope he misses the pull up.

  • @vaibanez17 wtf? Double dribble? Double dribble is if you dribble... hold the ball with 2 hands... and dribble again! Fuckin dumass!!!

  • @angusbeefish A double dribble can be called if you "hesitate" between dribbles. There's nothing in the rules about holding it with two hands. Just ending your constant dribbling motion for a period, and then dribbling again. It's up to interpretation but I reffed junior high for a year and trust me, it could be called a double dribble. A carry is not incorrect, but to say i'm a dumbass, come on. Ridiculous.

  • PRACTICE ?!

  • It sure looks like he held the ball too long after his last dribble before the crossover move. If i was calling the game, I would call this a double dribble. You can't hold the ball that long between dribbles.

  • @vaibanez17 a double dribble? if anything it would be a carry

  • @JK420Y a carry would not be an incorrect call but a double dribble is also a correct call

  • The call wasn't against A.I. He was slightly touched after he had dribbled passed Terrell Brandon.

  • Practice! we are all talking about practice

  • the definition of a killa crossover is this

  • the ref was so amazed he didn't know what to do.

he was probably laughing and accidentally still had the whistle in his mouth so it blew and he had to call something!

  • where is the violation there?? . fuck you ref ...

  • @shoiabrigana he makes two full steps and then dribbles the ball again. That's against the rules however it's weird they called it in NBA.

  • @blamu2 as long as you're in the dribbling motion you can take as many steps as you want

  • I love how the announcers freeze-frame and say his hand is on the back of the ball, then the moment the footage continues his hand goes under the ball.

  • i love it wen the officials fuckup..i mean, come on man, ur supposed to b official!!

    lol

  • allen iverson man so much ptential

  • @cleancutmr that had to be the stupidest thing i've heard today, thanks for playing.

  • @jeff7659 aye jeff kill yoself

  • Does anyone else agree that Wade and Rose are the best crossover legacies of Allen Iverson?

  • @sora41333

    kobe had a good crossover

and so did tim hardaway but yeah

    rose has a killer one

    dwade i would disagree

  • @greenmatrix151023387 really? you should check d wade vids out im almost sure he is up there with rose and kobe. Wade ads his own style to his crossovers which he says he learned from his dad...i saw it on a documentary.

  • @sora41333

yeah dwade prolly has a crossover up there w/ kobe and d.rose

and he does indeed add his own style to it. everyone adds a lil flavour to theirs i find

    ty 4 the reply

  • The Referee Called That To Save The Guy From Embarrassment .

  • AI is the only player i saw crossover someone twice in one move against the wizards

  • AI crossover in his prime or Derrick rose's now? reply and let me know, I go with AI even though Im a rose FAN, but I think they play similar games but rose is more physically gifted.

  • @mwyatt787 rose reminds me of Jordan! fast and leading his team!

  • I never understood some of the calls on Iverson's cross. He never really puts his hand under the ball. It's never really a carry. Iverson's cross is a million times more legal than Lebron's crab dribble.

  • Go check out PKshooterz. They are good.

  • lmao at the announcer saying that wasnt a carry, easy call to make for the officials... ai and grant hill have the best crossover i've ever seen...

  • nobody really had a dramatic crossover like that in the nba until AI. Ref prolly never seen it before.

  • @jrique32 Exactly...they stayed calling carry on AI becuz they never seen a joker get snatched out their sweat socks like that.

  • this video proves his cross was never a carry

  • Allen Iverson just wanted to fuck with Terrell Brandon hah

  • Fuck you ref!

  • whats up with that rule

    plz explain

  • @MrLandyboy The referee thought Allen lifted the ball. Lifting is when you put your hand under the ball, like carrying it on the top of your palm

  • He did this to him right after Brandon had gotten the cover of Sports Illustrated, or Slam and was considered the best PG in the league. PLAYED HIM!

  • @SamuraiSwoosh He was a punk, thug ass hood type of nigger and I mean that with no disrespect. Obviously thats disrespectful, I loved AI and yea he was a thug, but the shit he went through, he deserves to be whatever the fuck he wants.

  • @SamuraiSwoosh yea iverson had many faults but i thought it was refreshing to see a guy who would not conform to what corporate america wanted aka middle age white men. Ironically but not conforming he ended being the leagues biggest superstar and loved buy the suburban kids of those middle age white men

  • The crossover king !!!!!

  • Bad call

  • @SamuraiSwoosh youre ignorant

  • fuck the reffs, i saw this the first time and new it was legit. fuckin hater refs

  • Why did people think his crossover looks like a travel or carry first time i saw it looked completely legal?

  • @YouTheNewsTube because it worked so good and it was too fast and pretty as shit, plus before him no one in the nba had a cross like that. they thought if no else can do it like him then it has to be illegal/carry.

  • im surprised the commentator said it was a bad call. 1996 must have been good

hubie brown would have been all over the ref's DICK about how it was an excellent call

  • Comment removed

  • where the fuck was the carry nigga just mad he got cross up

  • i dont see how this is a travel, he's still dribbling the ball while he takes those 3 steps.....

  • just like PRACTICE

  • I'd love to hear something like "bad call by the official" again.

too bad nobody is allowed to talk about mistakes by the refs anymore..

  • This is a very simple, but deadly cross. You just need average handles and a strong headfake

  • The sad thing is..today in the nba, this is called EVERY single time a player tries to cross someone, no matter where their hand is on the ball..its ashame cuz we don't get iverson-like plays anymore

  • This was Iverson in his rookie year so yeah the refs didn't respect him yet

  • palming

  • NBA officials are too full of themselves... some people should never be given a whistle...

  • When iverson comes up to you as he's dribbling your in deep shit.....hahahaha!!!

  • @TheRealBaird12 wow u stole fub4lifes comment

    lame

  • @theiconickid i stole ur mom's virginity

  • @TheRealBaird12 wow thats a low blow

i dont argue over a computer though

so im not going to retaliate like an immature kid

  • haha back then da refs werent used to seeing moves like dat...da crossover was still relatively new..dese days..dat dude jus got crossed..legally..NO TRAVEL

  • @natehooper14 dat was dope yo! da dude done got messed up...stick to watching and1 videos and ditch de ebonics yo!

  • It's only because he wasn't a superstar yet.

  • WTF!? TRAVEL MY ASS!

  • Iverson practically changed the nba in with his ankle-breaking crossovers. Just like Wilt Chamberlain changed the nba with his dominant presence in the post.

  • Should've been Mark Price. Dumb Cavs trading him!!

  • The refs made it illegal cause it was unstopable. I wonder if they're gonna make Kobe's fadeaway illegal too someday.

  • After he got Jordan twice with this crossover it became illegal

  • son of a bitch ref... he was actually WAITING for the crossover to call it travel....

  • its not the best crossover of all time its more like the worse defence of all time

  • @123456789118 Nobody could stop that including your dumbass!

  • they call it a carry in todays game

  • @theboywithmadhops they shouldn't... totally legal man.... i play in europe, greece panionios junior and i ve done some crossovers like that and they dont call it... so, if europe forgives it the nba MUST too... the ref is just an idiot

  • JA REGAR DE MILLE FOI LA VIDEO O MOINDRE DETALLE

  • The best crossover of all time.

  • nice video, check out my basketball videos on my page...thanks

  • The referees did everything they could back then to ban those AI killer crossovers, they just realised how unstoppable he was and they had to find a way to contain him, without those fuckers, AI would have scored so many more baskets, and with ease, but NBA doesn't like basketball being fun to watch, doesn't like people enjoying a game, enjoying a superstar showing off their skills, exceptions made for Kobe LeBron or Wade (how fair).. "and they wonder why the league is loosing money, that's why"

  • @23LeBronbbalKing Exactly. So true!!

  • @23LeBronbbalKing good point on why the league is losing money cuz that reminds me of an old saying by shaq...

"If they wonderin' why the league is losing money, that's why. The refs are tryin' to take over the fu*king game!"

  • @warhawk428 That's a quote of his own words actually, that's why it reminds you of him: cause it simply is from him :) He is so true that I couldn't do better than quoting him

  • @23LeBronbbalKing my friend.... excepting lebron, who is the pet of the nba, kobe was badly treated in his early years.... yet his career is so big we dont remember..... so did jordan.... wade in his first years was underrated as hell.... soo you're fucking right but i had to speak up for those

  • back in the jerry west days you had to keep the hand on top of the ball i think or something then here then here

  • Iverson was the first person to start that kind of crossover, this was back in 1997, so i see why they made that call, i dont agree with it tho, nowdays, everybody does that crossover

  • Anybody noticed #20 on the 76ers wearing the cherry 12's? Classic.

  • Note to NBA: Take out them gay ass touch fouls and give us back them killer cross overs!

  • @meowdragon been out for a decade bro

  • stupid call ref

  • all refs suck i agree wit u cause that was a horrible call

  • the NBA fucked up when they outlawed the killer crossover

  • he does carry it sometimes when he does a crossover but i wouldnt have called this one its dang good it would have probably broke my ankles no joke

  • I SWEAR TO GOD HE GOT A SEXY ASS CROSSOVER LOL !

  • on the europe ball and Fiba discussion: Fiba allows hand checking and more physical play than the NBA. also, Fiba has a ver specific rule on traveling involving soething about lifting ur pivot foot b4 u dribble and KD has had it called many times. NBA refs woudve not cared and watched in awe

  • this is good stuff, watch my basketball video and tell me how good you think i am:stephen senderoff basketball highlights

  • damn that was nasty!!!

  • Is it a carry YES. Is it a carry in the NBA..NO. Should have been no call.

  • @mrhoffame wtf man... no carry... although it's on the limits... wrong and hating call....

  • Not a carry.

  • this is when AI was still young and that awesome move wasn't well know to the referee too well just yet. Yup that was absolutely not a carry ball.
