@TheBrokenVampire2 yeah but as soon as he say "...Tom Riddle" every1 starts lookin at eachother and talkin, that might b ppl askin to eachother who Tom is and other that know already telling eachother who is
''Everyday, every hour, this very minute perhaps, dark forces attempt to penetrate this castle's wall... but in the end, their greatest weapon, is YOU'' *Dumbledore glances in Draco's direction* and they suddenly show a shot of Draco, so therefore my point is Dumbledore is so bad ass he literally ''told'' Draco he knew about his mission however everyone was so oblivious to it including Draco. Is it only me that realized that?
I thought the writing was sort of bad in this speech.
Sure it's dramatic and such..... But Dumbledore seems to jump to different points throughout the speech.
"Where you going there, Dumbledore?"
Like, he mentions Tom Riddle...... Then goes off to talk about dark forces.... Then a "sobering fact" that is that the students (obviously Malfoy is who he's directing this at) are the greatest weapons.
@VenomShock It's a shock to think that someone else thinks like me, I always thought the speech was directed at Malfoy but he was oblivious to it just like the rest of the students, I've actually left a comment about it above. After he said ''... but in the end, their greatest weapon... is YOU.'' he glanced at Draco and then they showed a shot of him, it's so obvious he's talking to Draco. Dumbledore's practically saying ''I know what you're up to, Draco.''
@VenomShock Umm, I thought the speech's point from start to finish was pretty clear. The point of the speech was that Tom Riddle was one of you once, just a student (and by extension, all the death eaters were once). And while you may think that the threats are out there on the outside, it's actually other students like you who will be their weapons in the future war. Students, just like Tom Riddle once was.
@Pwells1 The point of his speech is clear. But it seems like he was jumping around to different subjects. The way he connects his points seems unfitting to me, because the stories and points don't really seem to connect.
@michealsofresh12 Obviously they had to clap for him, he's their head of house (Slytherin, I was about to write Slutherin, LOL) plus he's their role model, mentor, etc.
this is a brilliant speech, this and the one at the top of the astromery tower to draco are superb, very fitting! whenever he speaks, people take notice, well, except cornelius fudge ofcourse!
This is a bit off topic, but I wish I had a British friend to teach me how to speak English as they do. It seems more proper and elegant. (although I know it is just personal taste) I find their pronunciation very attractive.
Harry seemed unaffected when Dumbledore announced that Snape was the new Defense Against the Dark Arts because in the movie, the only class that Harry had attended was Slughorn's Potion class. I wish they had included Snape's Defense Against the Dark Arts class to show Snape teaching them how to duel
this scene makes the movie in my opinion...sets the perfect tone, with the epic music...too bad this vid's sound is out of key, copyright rules suck. nicholas hooper for the win
Yeah I mean this is the only part of the film I don't love Gambon's acting. In previous speeches, especially in the POA one, he was so full of life and energised. I wish he was more like that here.
@keichaos34 he's not stiff, though it is true he's not like in the book he's still a good actor, it's not his fault, it's the filmmakers, who knows? maybe it would have seemed to cheesy if he was like in the book
when dumbledore says that the boy's name was Tom Riddle, i think it should have focused more on Harry and Ginny, and Ginny could have gone really pale or something coz of her terrible experience of him in chamber of secrets, and then Harry could have comforted her of something, idk
@melbournestormfreak Man, your totaly right about that, i can perfectly see it, about how you discribe that, because then it gives Toms effect when he reapears after 4 years once again a lot more stronger effect than a whole hall whispering about him ,wich i think its strange because they shouldnt know about tom anyway, and because would sertainly remember him from the chamber of secrets, and the horror he had doen with the basilisk, it should have givvien teh memory scene a lot stronger to. :P

He didn't say 'Voldemort', how are they supposed to know who he's talking about? In the book it says very few people know who Tom Riddle is.

Hmmm... Dumbledore seem so stiff in saying the speech. In the book, he's so much different. He's like relaxed and calm at the books.

Such a shame. Dumbeldore is the only character that they didn't get the perfect actor for. Everyone else nailed it.
