@ReptileGirl621 haha thats what my mom said, now I might be getting my second boa soon =) The max size for these guys is pretty big, 15 feet or so. However that is very very rare, the biggest one ive ever seen in person was about 10 feet. But the average for a male is 6-7 feet while about 8 for a female. And they arent really all that hard to care for when it comes to temps and humidity they are pretty tolerant of change, They can require pretty big cages and food items though,depending on size.

I have a small female , and she is the nastiest snake i have ever encounterd . lol I handle her with gloves at the moment she gets really stressed if i handle her without , plus she hisses alot when i open her tank but i wont handle her if she does. @ReptileRoom1993 Do not let your snake hissing or being defensive prevent you from handling them. If you let them scare you and you hesitate to handle them you are reinforcing that behavior. You must also teach your snake when it is feeding time and when it is handling time. For example, you may tap her with a roll of paper towels or a snake hook, which will alert her to your presence and give you an opportunity to get your hands under her. Most snakes relax once you pick them up.

Nice girl. Ignore the idiots with the shitty comments. Also Ball pythons are NOT good beginner snakes as they can be finicky eaters and shy. Most of the Colubrids make great starter snakes as they are generally hardy, easy to care for and more forgiving.

Royal pythons are a good snake to start with if you get a young one-- alot of people say corn snakes are a good start off snake. but corn snakes are my least favourite snake so i would not say that !!!!

Garter snakes are the best snakes to start off on because they need hardly any care. They range from all climates from the Equator to near the Arctic Circle so they don't need a heat pad or a heat lamp, except in the winter, they are the most widely-spread snake in the world. Also they don't usually grow over 2 feet, so all you need is a 10 or 20 gallon tank to get set. Just put down some fake moss, a place for them to sleep under, and a water bowl full of feeder guppies and you're set!

When they're about that size, you'll need about a 6ft viv.

I currently have a boa that is about a year old and is currently in one of those plastic vivs.

It'll be many years before you need a full size viv tho, so forget about it for now! :P

That is a not true. Many male Bci's only reach 4-5 feet. It is very rare for a female to get to 10 feet. Generally closer to 6-8 for females.  Many people say 15 but I think the record is around 12 or 13. So the average is definitely not 10-11. I don't think a Bci has ever reached 15. It's not uncommon for a male to only get as short as 4 feet and not be at all stunted.

The females are normally a bit bigger than the males the average is ment to be about 8 foot. but is is hard to say because it all depends on how your snake eats my boa eats very well she is 8 and a half foot and only 6 years old in the wild they normally live for about 25 years,an some say that can be doubbled in good captive conditions.(there rate of growth does slow down like ours though).
