  • "I became very discouraged..." about Hollywood...

  • I actually enjoyed watching Elvis Movies.... They were good clean movies the whole family could watch...(You didn't have to send the kids out of the room when an Elvis movie came on.... Though,, they could have gave him a few serious roles, but they were to interested in making a fast buck with cheap movies and the Elvis name selling them!!!!

  • One of his most candid interviews...

  • His speaking voice is even more alluring than his singing voice, if that's possible. Could listen to him all night and the next and the next... I miss my favorite entertainer. So much.

  • Can you imagine what it would have been like if Elvis has his own show like the Johnny Carson show!!! What a history worth seeing over and over again that would have been, doing all of those songs, skits and interviews! He was a NATURAL ENTERTAINER!

  • EU TINHA SÓ 14 ANOS E AMAVA MUITO ELVIS PRESLEY!! I LOVE I LOVE I LOVE FOREVER ELVIS PRESLEY!! UMA FÃ NO BRASIL!!!

  • thank u 4 this brilliant

  • i realy enjoyed this . nice to hear something that ive not heard before .thanx

  • Good stuff.

  • its nice to hear elvis say himself that the movies were not great

id like to have had something more challeging then what hollywoods image thought i was . hes spot on there. well said elvis i blame tom parker.

  • @vangard213 couldnt agree more mate .

  • C'mon people, I'm one of the biggest Elvis fans that you'll ever meet but he's not God or Mother Theresa. If you bother to read a few books you'll find that Elvis could be a moody rotten prick. Read Waylon Jennings autobiography...he recalls going to visit Elvis and during his stay he elbows Cilla in the ribs so hard she leaves the room then he makes one of his friends stand against a wall while Elvis threw darts at his shins. Elvis is the King but he could also be a King Prick.

  • @telecasterhst69: I'd be a moody rotten prick too if I'd had to make a movie as awful as 'Kissin Cousins' and then do it again and again in different settings with (mostly) crappy songs. The loss of artistic control must have been gut-wrenching...but not enough to do something about it, like sack the manager. Drugs became the crutch it seems...I love Elvis, but he's one FRUSTRATING dude.

  • @telecasterhst69 dude he really did stuff like that damn

  • @telecasterhst69 After reading two books about Elvis, I have come to the conclusion that it would have been better off for everyone concerned if Elvis would have been born a fish. At least, in a few short years, he would have been somebody's dinner.

  • @telecasterhst69

What kind of Elvis-Fan are you, if you had to read such a holy crap? Thanks for your emotional intelligence and offering me that he was not Mother Theresa! I am really confused because i always thought one of the biggest Elvis-Fans has knowledge about his humanity and doesn't need to read such a holy crap! You could be the next Pope! Go ahead!

  • @alohafrompriscilla Thank you for anointing me. Listen, you hit the nail on the head yourself, Elvis is a human being. All I'm saying is that if you read through enough of these posts, you'd think Elvis hung the moon (which he kinda did, ha ha) and had no faults whatsoever, and that's annoying. He's a supremely talented hillbilly that changed the course of music/entertainment/pop culture in one fell swoop. He was kind to people but also moody and shitty to his friends and wife who he cheated on.

  • @telecasterhst69 U sound bitter. Like someone who plays the telecaster but never made a name for themselves on any level let alone Elvis's level. Ive read several of your posts and i dont see what your point is in trying to "convince" or "show" the people how ignorant and normal you think elvis is when you really just come off sounding extremly jealouse, and you should be, but why not let people feel how they want to feel without trying to "educate" them on E's flaws?

  • @mlee2001

I have to agree with you. As a star he lived a totally other live than a "normally unknown" person and times have changed. Today, we all know, it is nothing unusual for the V.I.P.'s to go to the "Betty Ford Clinic"......., for example. Thank you

  • @alohafrompriscilla

When i write he was a human, i mean he was a human. And i don't wanna go into his "Friends" or his marriage or his negative attitudes, you next Pope! Go ahead and wear Elvis shoes......! TCB

  • @alohafrompriscilla I am the Pope Colonel Parker the Third. Not only do I wear Elvis shoes I wear one of his custom made jump suits to bless all of the clueless Elvis fans who thinks that a hick from Tupelo is God. As the Pope I am demanding you read a few books about a guy that wouldn't acknowledge his addictions and fired the people who tried to help him, a man who wouldn't have sex with his wife after having a child because "its just not right" and then banged everything in sight.

  • @telecasterhst69 You can wear a Pope-suit and bless naive people and help supplement your pocket money as a truck driver. You can do what you want but you always are a charicature of a human beeing who always gave a big pricks like you a great

Projection screen. The double standard here with what you pretend to be an Elvis fan and the other to throw with stones, unfortunately, you do only one Judas. God bless you and your wife Mother Therese

  • @alohafrompriscilla I want to make fun of you but I can't because your rebuttal doesn't make any sense to a sane individual. I won't deny that Elvis is the King of R&R and I love the guy, faults and all, no double standard with me. Truth be told, Elvis was a weirdo with insane talent which changed the world but he's no saint, plain and simple, so quit trying to make him out to be one. As a fan you should be pissed at EP for ruining himself with gluttony and dope...he could've done much more...

  • @telecasterhst69

Elvis never wanted to be a saint or a King! As a nurse who works since over 25 years with addicts i am pissed of fans like you! And as a FAN of Elvis since i was 12, i am still sad for him. I wished him a better life with better quality and that he would have been able to take professionell help! I am still sad.........! Just Sad!!!

  • @alohafrompriscilla Elvis didn't want help. It's been well documented that several members of the Memphis Mafia confronted EP and offered to help and Elvis fired them for getting into his business. They tried to give him placebo pills and other ways to wean him down but like Michael Jackson he couldn't sleep or wake up without drugs. Don't be pissed at me, at least I know my stuff when talking about EP. Come back to reality. You say you're a nurse. Elvis liked Demerol, I recommend you take some.

  • @telecasterhst69

I read your comment about coming out of a family with a lot of divorces and you are beeing one with problems of near and distance. Go on therapy with your borderline-symptomatik and stop projecting your own problems on Elvis Presley and his life! You need Therapy! Bye, bye

  • @alohafrompriscilla I might need therapy but I don't stalk people on the internet. And I agree, bye-bye you fucking wack job, go stalk somebody else that doesn't agree with your strange sensibilities. Clearly you've been following me around, I recommend otherwise you creep.

  • @telecasterhst69

You are a very stupid and aggressive BORDERLINER! I just read on your channel! That's all! And you are tooo stupid for me! That's the way it is! Bye and get a life at Therapy!

  • @telecasterhst69 You gotta remember, in elvis time, He was like the biggest star in the world and had beeen for sometime. He couldnt just go to the mall or go to a game like alot of stars do today. He could've literally been mobbed and killed by the fans, so him staying home and doping up and eating to excess, is somewhat understandable hell he had everything there anyway, plus rehab then was not as accepted and encouraged as it is today. EP still TCB!

  • YOU ONLY HAVE TO LISTEN TO ELVIS IN THIS INTERVIEW TO UNDERSTAND THAT DEEP DOWN INSIDE HE WAS A DEEP THINKER, ELVIS WAS A VERY SMART MAN BUT I THINK HE WAS ALSO A VERY SHY MAN AND A LOT OF PEOPLE TOOK GREAT ADVANTAGE OF THIS. MAKES ME WONDER WHAT HIS SO CALLED MATES WERE DOING, WHY WASNT ANYONE WATCHING HIS BACK.

  • In spite of the (very real) pain that Elvis endured, with the decline in the quality of his movie scripts, the fact remains that he is the ONLY Hollywood Star whose every single movie...made money. No one else can make that claim..and it be true.

Also, during that time period (and most of his life) he was in the NINETY FIVE percent tax bracket AND he never maximized his IRS deductions. Monetarily and contractually he had to do these films.

Take care and may God bless you.

    Jeff Schrembs

  • He is the greatest singer/entertainer that ever walked the planet, no one will ever replace him, they broke the mould the day he was born , no one will ever come close to the greatness of Elvis. He was is and always will be the one and only.

  • This is a wonderful audio clip of Elvis letting his "guard down" and opening up about his frustration(s) with his movie scripts during the 1960's. Many people are unaware that Elvis took over for James Dean, who sadly had died, in King Creole eventhough the producer was hesitant but after seeing Elvis firsthand remarked that Elvis had the emotional range to be "one of the great actors". His last chance for acting glory was when he was offered "A Star is Born" and Colonel nixed it. Take care.

  • insightful. is there any interviews on why elvis didn't do any more tv appearances & live concerts from 1961 until 1968, then 1969? he would have had 100% control over those. mike douglas begged elvis to come on his show. he could have went on the johnny carson show 2. to sing & move to 1 or 2 songs on tv would have suited elvis perfectly. while live concerts would have been out of this world! they should have kept the same formula of the 50's tv apperance,concerts,movies,records/movie&nonmovie

  • @jeryd2003 The reason Elvis didn't appear that often on TV after 1960 was because TV couldn't afford him anymore. The Colonel priced him right out of the market.

  • Thanks for posting. Great stuff. I never heard it, just have it as written transcript.

  • That Dam Parker He wouldn't let Elvis do any real serious roles , Elvis wanted to do A star is born with Barbara Streisand in 1976 . That would of been great to see , But Tom Parker said No Way " Maybe Elvis would of been alive today if he did the movie . I'm sure that really Hurt Elvis real Bad "

  • Very very interesting... An important piece of Elvis' story. Thanks for posting!

  • Great to hear this!

  • This is so good, thank you for sharing. No wonder Elvis used the drugs he did.He was and will always be the most amazing entertainer but he wasn't in control of what movie's he would make. How sad.Good Job Colonel, you weasel.

  • wonderful

  • Great Introspective interview Elvis gave in 1972 for EOT. Thank you and Melissa for sharing.

  • great

  • I need that sunglasses

  • It happens to the best of them, when they dance with the Devil. Vegas was no diferent. MOB MOB MOB MOB. The pill popping and obesity was just a result of feeling threatoned. If anyone has experienced this , well you know what I'm talking about. If you dont ,go back to sleep and tell your selves you knew him. And J.C. its O.K. you can come out now. It was just business. They are not going to hurt you, her or your daughter. Water under the bridge. Knowwamean?

  • imagine him and clint eastwood doing a western that would have been a classic although i prefer to remember his music more he should have been given a chance to prove he could be serious

  • FLAMING STAR an ELVIS clasic!!!!!!!

  • I have said it all along, these movies were designed to destroy the career of Elvis Presley but some how or another he turned it around with the 68 special, what an actor, Hollywood is missing him now.

  • Nobody so Sorry Missed....RIP The King of our Hearts! You are The Best Actor for Us!

  • Charro! was the best Elvis movie ever made because it showed his true acting abilities without all of the regular fancy song and dance numbers every 5 minutes! Lol. Actually, all of his movies were great, but that was by far the best!!! Elvis is awesome! His songs and preformances were always amazing! I Love ELVIS! I always have been and always will be a huge fan! LONG LIVE THE KING! R.I.P. Elvis Presley 1935-1977.

  • Elvis didn't have any balls when it came to Colonel Parker.

  • @porn1978 Nothing to do with balls. Elvis was a genuine nice guy and he was very loyal, but he did fire Parker at one point after a fight with him. And it was not the only time Elvis told him off.

  • @JohnnyGGN ..Yeah true indeed, but still Elvis couldn't get rid of him for nothing! Its like a whore who cant and doesn't want to leave her pimp!

  • Remember I was here.Thai

  • just great

  • Elvis Presley could not get final approval on scripts?

I understand how Elvis didn't like the movies but he sure didn't complain about the money that created his lifestyle.

A lifestyle you and I can only dream about.

  • Elvis was such a great and natural actor...he didn`t need to learn this!

    Thankyou for this great share!

  • Excellent stuff. Hey does anyone have the complete march 1961 interview that once came out on a LP I think titled THE KING SPEAKS that you may upload for us?. It was done either in Memphis or Hawaii as I recall.

  • does anyone have the complete march 1961 interview that once came out on a LP I think titled THE KING SPEAKS that you may upload for us?. It was done either in Memphis or Hawaii as I recall.

  • wow never heard this b4 ... Elvis comes across so serious and telling us what others wud say years later about his movies like he did not know ... he knew .... luv the rare Elvis like this

  • a great man with a wonderful voice and wonderful moves. no wonder he is the king of rock'n'roll! he would have been a big actor if they just gave him the chance to be one.

  • Por favor, alguem poderia escrever em inglês ou portugues o que Elvis diz? Eu quero muito saber... Please! Somebody could write in English what Elvis spoke? thank you!

  • You have to remember that Elvis and the Colonel were just mercenaries.

Elvis hated the movies but he loved money so he just rode the movie horse until it dropped.

  • @hermanglimsher Ehh...have you actually LISTENED to this? "They couldn't have paid me all the money in the WORLD....to make me feel some self-satifaction inside", he states. Plus - pay attention to what he says about having 4-year contracts to fulfill. Contracts that was signed without knowing what scripts would be presented. And he says that "IT DID NOT CHANGE" (the bad scripts), - so he changed it eventuall when he could (when the contracts ended).

  • This man was one in a trillion.

  • @thegertkenator 1 in a googoplex

  • i prefer to remember him as a singer but he should have been given a chance to prove he could do better roles

  • A REALLY GREAT POST......THANK YOU!! I don't know how to do "post's" Aside from my own easy "Flip" deals....SO I am real in all that take the time!!

    THANKS AGAIN

    D

  • Poor Elvis. That was so sad to listen to. I wonder, had they given him better opportunities, would he still be here?

  • It is very interesting to to note that alot of talented actors and critics all agree that he had the makings to become one of the best actors of his time...and it's sad that he was never given the chance to prove them right.

  • Elvis was a very talented and intelligent man and could have done any role he wanted to do but the Col. kept him in these same movies and I think E became frustrated because he didn't feel challenged and he felt he wasn't living up to his full potential. I still loved all his movies and thought he was wounderful anyway. King Creole was awesome.

  • Wow , this is a rae interview....Where and when was it made ? Do you have the rest of it ???

  • This was made during Elvis On Tour movie (1972). There is plenty material exist. I don't have more of it.

  • @DirlyDirlyDee Any particular reason why some of this stuff was not featured on ELVIS ON TOUR re-release last year? This and other monologue is great and is screaming for a release.

  • @83pucci The whole interview is about 45 minutes long and can be found on a bootleg CD called "All That I Am" here is Elvis admitting his films were awful and he new it at the time of making them and it made him sick with worry...I like the way he blames himself...he was honest.

  • Thank You So Much For Posting This Fantastic Video My Friend !

    1000* TCB DANNY

  • Good God I Love this guy....He was and will always be amazing...His music and movies were and will always be long lasting.

  • King Creole proved Elvis could act..the 60s scripts didn't allow him to.

  • I've always thought that a lot of those films were a waste of his talent and his time. He may have grown into a better actor if he'd been given the chance, if the motivations of people around him had been less greedy and more creative.

    Cool interview, thanks!

  • He had to be very tenacious to put up with making those films which he found reppetativly tedious, doing something like that requires a whole lot of will power, can wear you out especially if your heart isn't into it...signing movie contracts 4 years in advance is a rather huge burden, knowing he had to do it all...very impressed by this American gentlemans story!! Thanks for posting!!

  • Omg omg itz heartbreaking 2 heart from elvis

  • he's hot!

  • oh, i love him! thank you!

  • He is the most loveable greatful kind harded giveing and always thinking of others.he has the mostbeauitfulblue eyes and the perfect mouth. hie face is the most loveable and what a voice the way he speeks when the words come out and what a laught he melts my heart.and his face you can't help but to love him; so what more can you want in a man? thanks so much for posting this i enjoyed this totley. a faithul elvis who loves him deeply. t.b.c. t.l.c. he will never be forgoten his love lives on.

  • This is a great interview~!~ Thanks for sharing it.I love it that you see his face without changing pictures as well...

  • Thanks! I didn't put changing pictures because I thought that people would concentrate to listen rather than looking the pictures.

  • @DirlyDirlyDee A good idea. Focus is very, very important. ((Smiles)...but, I'll bet it drove the A.D.D. kids CRAZY!!! lol!)

All in all, a great piece of Elvis memorabilia! Well done!
