It is William Christie Die Schopfng (The Creation) by Haydn. Saw it agian after several years. Superb as I remembered it. Here it is for you all to enjoy: Its about 10 minutes, the Adam & Eve duet from half way to the end is simply the best. Sophie Karthauser is the wonderful soprano. The energy she has is divine
Following up on the previous post. the language of the piece was the original German and I recall the name of the group was something speaking of its authentic base in the past--perhaps the instruments. I would love ot find this piece, but it seem sto have disappeared, but i cannot recall any proper names other than Haydn's Creation and the duet at the end for Adam & Eve.
I saw a U tube video about 3 to 4 years ago ( 6 -27-11) showing an American conducting a performance of this same work, The Creation. It was by a group of youngish European adults who were dressed very casually. It looked liked a performance and no one was formally dressed. (perhaps was a recording they were making rather than a video. I believed it was in Paris. The Eve was superb--energetic and clear without the complexity which sopranos often add. I cant find it Wld luv any help.
@ontoson I think I have just been looking at the version you're referring to - conducted by William Christie. It's a video of a recording session. released by EMI. Hope this helps you to find it. The two sopranos are excellent.
Wow! One of the only things she's sung by Haydn! (not that there is much for her to sing by him anyway!)
This is great - she is so composed and elegant - her phrasing is perfect - except at the end with those faster runs down before the cadential trills :P But fantastic, as ALWAYS!
I think I prefer Nathalie Dessay in this more than any of the operatic roles I've seen her in. I wish she'd stick with oratorio.

@JoanatNo29 I, on the other hand, while loving her (and the others) in this ... am super glad she hasn't stuck with oratorio.

The conductor may well have been English rather than American

I love the gown! And Dessay does a superb rendition of a classic, as always.

The middle voice is muddled. ISOBEL BAILLIE is far superior

There is a large body of music Haydn wrote for soprano, including operas, masses, part songs. I don`t understand the comment?
