@1962swissmiss I saw your post.....ya I would just return it and exchange it for another......any sign of problems just get another......that'll save you all the grief of any malfunction in the long run......also always keep the warranty papers and receipt so your covered up to the warranty date (which is usually one year).....always check the warranty (open it right away in your car when you're in the store's parking to make sure you know how long the warranty is......

@AFComputers They just released a new version of this laptop and some things were upgraded. The Wordpas has been improved, there's gadgets now on a sidebar, a program named "textmaker", Skypie support, the keys are a little bigger, there's WinRar compression software, MSN messenger, Mailbox, Foxit PDF reader, MS Exel (the program and not just a reader), a Powerpoint clone. NO JOKE. I got this as a backup to the red one I bought earlier and was surprised at the imporvement! The OS is til Win CE 6

prob work better with openwrt, ill mod it and pimp it out to see what i can do, other then that its just a big ass device like a phone with a keyboard and a shitty mobile os, but good for traveling and socializing, and playing mp3s, i play from via storage device so i dont know about the ripping music options, my droid is better it has java and i can download chat clients, i can do the same with this, it just wont work, and java chat doesnt work. Like downloading shit but wont work cuz of CE

have you tried connecting an external hard drive for more space or a external primary drive (CD-DVD) I know it has a SD memory slot that you can add more memory to it.

After watching your vid - thank you! - I went out and got one of these. I love it. Just the basics. Concerns I have though are, is it necessary to use antivirus protection on this thing... and if so, what? With such a small memory, I doubt it would take anything like the free Microsoft security essentials. Also, mine came with CKE for a notepad. I don't like it, as I can't seem to edit or delete anything I create in it. Please let me know what you think.

@mousie025 you could get on myspace and facebook and twitter and youtube, etc (whew! but the utube is only capable through the built in application) itunes would not be able to download. im not sure about the webcam, but i think it would most likely work :)

I just got mine, it works great, and I have had very few problems. It boots up fast and connects to the internet easily, both at home and at WiFi hot spots. Web pages default to the mobile versions to speed up web surfing. I added an 8GB SD card where I store pictures, music and video . The picture viewer works great, as does the Windows media player. Unfortunately, It can only handle fairly small videos. The small size makes it easy to carry around. It is small mobile and fun. Two thumbs up.

I LOVE mine. This little guy doesn't get enough credit. It wasnt meant to be a real pc. its for travelling and surfing the net. After you upgrade the OS with the update file it looks alot better.

Oh a little funny..this computer is finding more Wi-Fi Conections then My Mackbook pro

You can hook up anything in the USB's and this little computer picks it up with no problems and this is when it's on

I can not do that on My MacBook Pro

There are Free Windows Ce stuff out there on the Internet already

you just need to Google Free Windows Ce (then what ever you are looking for)

There is a lot Programs and Driver Support for Windows Ce out there

just be wise and install the program on the second drive and leave the other drive for Windows Ce ONLY

My view on windows Ce..a scaled down and Limited OS but again it's a 100.00 computer that WORKS

here is what you can do with this micro laptop

like all computers it come loaded with the basics

once online you can download more Windows Se Apps and Programs

ALL USB ports work with Ram stick drives and mouse and keyboard

so if you load this litle computer up you have 6 working drives with a total of

130 gigs of memery going with four 16gig sick and one 16gig SD card

And you can change out the Windows Ce OS also if needed

you forgot to say anything about the reset button ..oh well

The USBs are 1.1. It took 1 min. to load 500 meg of FLVs to a USB stick but 6 1/2 to read it off into this machine. But it played the Video.

It is worth the money as long as you don't expect it to do what it can't do. Just as a book reader it is worth it.

It is not about the power of computers anymore, it is QUALITY OF INFORMATION. The IBM 3033 mainframe cost $3,000,000 in 1980 and only took 32 meg. So where is an accounting program for this? LOL

the two USB ports are 1.1 the user guide says they are for mouse and keyboard only. the single USB port on the back is 2.0. The netbook has a 300 mhx processor and 128 mb of ram. the processor is a VIA 8505. its not intel or AMD so some reviews say you cannot install Flash or Java. sof if the website you are asking about meets those specs it should be able to view the site. However, it is desined to go to the mobile version of the site if one is available

@Michiganfan098 it's really according to what you want to do with it. If the kid wants it for gaming, then he'll be disappointed as you can't really get your game on with this little guy. However, if you're looking for a research tool for school and to write papers, then yes it would work well.

I was able to change the wallpaper on my netbook as well as the general color scheme. Maybe mine was a different model, it is silver vice red shown in the video but it is a CVS 99.00 netbook. BTW, everything in the review is generally true although there are some music videos on youtube that cannot be viewed for some reason. I do love it for 99.00.

I just bought this. From what I want/need to do with it (browse the web, and hit up my usual spots, ala message boards) - it's perfect. Sure my pda will take me to the same places, but the 7 inch screen and full keyboard here is why I got this. It's light as a feather. The speakers suck, but all you need is one of those tiny boosters, or a pair of headphones, and you're fine. For 99 bucks you can't go wrong. I lucked out and found a black/silver one.

@AFComputers Win CE6 will allow you to change the wallpaper on this device. Just go to Control Panel -> Display -> Background, like you would in desktop Windows. It won't accept any graphics file format other than .jpgs, however.

@AFComputers for the Sylvania 7inch, available from CVS. Windows CE 6.0 allows for desktop background changs, from the display properties. It can be accessed in both the control panel, or right clicking the desktop and selecting "properties".

@AFComputers There are 10 JPEG files in the Windows subdirectory numbered 1 to 10. Just copy the jpeg you want into that directory and rename it. I have a Narn cruiser from Babylon 5 for my wallpaper.

@FAMOUSDRUMS182 Yes, it does...you can access changing wallpapers and themes per usual windows style through control panel, then display. The standard old windows color schemes and some cute backgrounds come standard. Also allows for "advanced" custom display for you to customize theme further.

i bought this today. was very excited to get it, BUT it was VERY SMALL , dont be fooled, it is scary how small it is. Most youtube videos do not play and all websites are loaded as MOBILE as said in the video. I ended up retuning it after using it for 15 minutes because of the dissapointment. Great concept, but too small MAKE IT A LITTLE BIT BIGGER and it will be great! But don't get it!

@curshvid I have not tried, but from my research it's not possible. And, it really can't run any programs other then the ones that are included. They have to be specially written to work with it.
