  • amazing video/documentry. i feel so scared when i watch this. the music and just the feeling. i admire your courage.

  • @laughboxfilms1 thank you for your comment. that is exactly the feel i was trying to convey. when filming inside, i did feel very afraid and i wanted that feeling to come out in the editing. thank you for taking the time to watch it.

  • Oh my god. I have read things about this being the worst place to stay in all of America. I have heard about the blood stained sheets, the trash, the rats, the bed bugs, the smells, the mould, the broken everything, the staff who simply don't give a shit, and I was so curious to know all about this strange hotel. But it is evident there is nothing funny about this place. This video scares the shit out of me. This looks like the projects!

  • I worked here in the mid eighties, the top floor was Penthouse hostel bit of a refuge from the rest of the hotel. Area around hotel was alot more edgy then.

  • damn dude....every time i watch this i get so creeped out, my heart starts to race. WELL DONE!

  • @WakenBakeGrl thank you so much!!! when i shot this footage, that is exactly how i felt, i was so creeped out and my heart was RACING, i was SO NERVOUS and i was really trying to portray that feeling in the editing. i really appreciate your comment very much

  • I wanna know what this place looked like BRAND NEW like on opening day. Then like slowly how fast it deteriorated.

  • The corridor's datedness only adds to the creepiness. Really, guys, is it too much to do more than just add carpeting and give the place a new coat of paint?

  • @MacraStraba

It needs a lot more than a coat of paint to cover up the dilapidated, leaking, smelly hole that it appears to be. Also, the creepy vibe and energy of questionable activities over the years will be evident until this place is either completed remodeled or torn down.

  • In 2007 the woman was found by maids...WHAT MAIDS??? What do the maids do? throw a dirty sheet cover over the bed and then leadve?

  • @kookiecrunch1 yeah from what i understand you have to request maid service and i KINDA think the reason they finally went in there was bc there maybe was a smell or something like that that tipped someone off to go but im pretty sure it was like 2 weeks after she had died. like apparently the man killed her, put her body under the bed, stayed for an entire week at the hotel with her being like that, then he left, they found her a week later, i think thats the details....i think....

  • How is this place still open, who would book this place after all that bad press it has

  • Howe is this place even still open you'd think with its notoriety in new york and the terrible reviews on various sites no one would book them

  • Most scariest hotel .

    --- i am from Asia

  • Jesus christ,,, this was the top pick on expedia,,

  • this is a sorry hotel

  • are some of the floors of the hotel are even accesible because of neglect

  • the creeped the shit out of me... watched this and instantly cancelled my reservation- im now staying in a place for double the price but at least ill sleep safe

  • Dear god!!! and they have a maid?

  • @doomslayer133 they do but you have to request for maid service. that is why the woman that was dead in her hotel room was found 12 days later.

  • I've stayed there before and yes it was filthy, but you pay what you get

  • I live near that hotel and that place is a true DUMP! Every time I walk pass that nasty hotel I get the creeps.

  • i bet it was the shit in 1930

  • the website thinks we are dumb, and will pay money for their lie on the website. Dumbasses don't even know how to take care of their own damn hotel.

  • Every time I go to NYC, I stay there. The bed always is clean and it's good enough to sleep in for few days. After a long day walking around Manhattan, you won't mind getting at your room, taking a shower and sleep. But yeah, the place is a hole...

  • good! hotel carter turned into homeless shelter 2:39

  • what radiohead song is this

  • @MrEGOTting the song is called 'everything in its right place' and its on radiohead's album 'kid A' which is a really incredible album. i highly recommend it

  • Thank you very much for this video! I was just about to book this hotel when I got curious to look for it on youtube. THANK YOU! I got totally scared about it. It`s creepy!

  • @daniellimag me too! that's why I'd rather to reserved at the Gershwin instead...

  • @yessicaflores79 But I was SO curious taht I had to go there just to see with my own eyes! It`s was creepy!

  • @daniellimag Oh my gosh! :(

  • @yessicaflores79 I even asked the doorman if he knew that the hotel is famous and he was like "nooo, I had no idea!" and hen we both started laughting! hahaha....

  • I would never get on an elevator there, I'm sure they don't conform to code/inspections. On TripAdvisor the most recent reviewer said mice/rats were all over them in their bed.

  • I have been there 4 times and come on it is not too bad, the location is perfect yesyes it is kind of dirty but it is fair for the price, there were so many families and young people so not big deal

  • wow close this dump already im surprised that is not forced to shut down

  • overall i liked this video. and i especially enjoyed the subtitled history. some views i would have preferred to be a little more stable and longer though. i never knew this place was a homeless shelter at one point. how was a woman thrown out of a top floor window? was it broken or do they open?

  • @pfun41 thank you for your comment. the women that was thrown out the window they didnt specify. i managed to stumble upon an article that was written about that other women who got murdered in 2007 on the 6th floor and the writer wrote a brief history and that was one of the things that they mentioned. i think the only think i didnt add is she was a prostitute. other than what was going on with the window i have no idea but she was murdered then tossed out the window.

    thanks for watching!

  • ugh i wanted to see the sights but you had to turn it into a rapid edit radiohead video. go buy a kaoss pad but dont make vids

  • @miraeja thank you for your opinion. did you happen to catch part 2 of the video? its not as edited and plays out my actual experience of my stay. you might find that a bit more enjoyable than part 1. if you have seen pt 2, then thank you for taking the time to watch.

    take care

  • whats the song that starts at 2:21

  • @jordanturner97 actualy never mind i found out

  • It give an excellent preview what's like a zero star hotel. Good job!

  • I stayed at the Carter Hotel with three friends in April 2001. We all made it unscatted. We did suffer serious alcool and drug intoxication. We visited many rooms (on different floors) as the bell hop wandered through the Hotel looking for a free one for us. We had the chance to take a few pictures with some of the specimens of the fauna. Strange polka-dot drapes crowned our window. Spending the wee hours of the nights in the lobby proved interesting and equally entertaining. Try sleeping there!

  • This is really well-made.

  • What does Combs have to do with this hotel?... This clip is no more than an effort to slander someone who has hesitated to spend in order to mak the lousy Police and City Hall of New York happy... Remember you get what you pay for.

  • when I stayed here with friends we were sitting in our room one evening when a bunch of guys walked in... saying it was their room.... the front desk had literally given our room away while we were still in it and provided then guys with a key. If we had not been home they would have had access to all of our stuff.

  • I want to stay at all the worlds worst hotels... I think I'll skip this one.

  • Damn, I'd rather stay at the hotel in The Shining than this one.

  • thank you for taking your time and posting this video. for a future trip to ncy i was considering the Ca(rter)ca Hotel as a place to stay but your video saved me from doing a big mistake...i´d rather sleep next to a bum in central park than setting a foot into this shithole

  • There were some minor annoyances though. My keycard wasn't wotking a few times in both my stayings there. So I had to go down to the lobby to get my card reset again. Also there were not many TV channels on the old and damaged TV sets. But then, who stays in his hotelroom when you're in the hart of Manhattan.

  • Awesome info! I stayed in Hotel Carter twice last year(12 to16 november '09 and 12 to 16 december '09). first I had room 10.06 and later room 12.02. I didn't mind that it was dirty, I stayed in dirtier places(hostels, motels etc). Security and noise was my main concern. I also had loads of locks and bolts on my door, almost impossible to break in, and it was very quiet during the nights. Overall I was happy with my stay there.
