  • Nice video, but people you should know you can get these in the US at almost any pet store. These look particularly healthy and active, though.

  • I am interested in buying.

  • One way 2 give calcium is to put tums in the tank

  • As nice as the apple snail is the great british pond snail is a far more efficent waste cleaner and prefers algae much more than the apple snail....

  • I have a question. Would these snails eat the fish poo in the tank?

  • @iJacksFishTanks hey jack, fancy seein' you here :D

  • @zunedog31 Haha :P

  • they are amphibious? :D

  • Els meus cargols, ells fan el mateix tot el temps .... A vegades, després d'alimentar ... ;)

  • do snails needs calcium to grow a healthy shell? if so what type of calcium do you use. i just got some today buy i dont know what do they need to grow healthy.

  • ill buy one

  • how big exactley

  • Lovely :D

    I love Golden Apple snails.

  • those snails are awesome

  • what do they eat ?

  • @darwin18811

Fish food, algae, or vegetation. Its possible to feed them blanched cucumber, lettuce, cabbage, and other vegetables, or let them eat underwater plants. Its for those reasons that Apple Snails can be potentially destructive to aquariums too; ones with lots of plants can end up ravaged by the hungry snail.

  • @SpiritusWorks thanks

  • Do you know where you can buy apple snails in ohio? I love the purple onand the yellow ones

  • would these go good in a tank with 5 comet goldfish 1 pleco and its 2.5 gal

  • That's the most alien looking snail i've ever seen.

  • if you need a calcium for your apple snails; you can boil egg and this boiled water's add your aquarium.

  • cute!!!

    What do they eat?

  • hey err anyone can reply, but it would be nice if the author of the video would reply. can apple snails be with guppies, sucker fish (banda raya some call it, if your from msia forgot it's scientific name), and neon tetras, and will they it live leaves cause i keep a live planted fish tank, and what do you feed them?

  • @molopi123 yes, it can be keep with guppy, betta and tetra. I keep it with shrimp also.

it feed on plant, and basically they eat anything, from fish food to vegetable.

  • @flashout13 sooooo.... since i have a live planted fish tank they will eat my plants aswell?

  • For some strange reason I couldn't stop laughing at 0:08. It was so random lol.

  • I bought one of these yesterday for my community tank. They're really cool.

  • I like the end were he randomly stared falling lol

  • My first fish tank I had an apple snail! I bought it when it was the size of a pea and it quickly grew to over an inch! I have to say the snail was the best part of my fish tank.. I watch the snail more then I watched the fish. sadly one day he got white stuff on him and died :(

  • omg u have a nice camera

  • i baught a few months ago.

and all of a sudden 2 days

    a go i have over 30 babies

i dont know what to do with

them. its crazy i woke up one

    morning and my tank bcame

cloudy. and i realized that there

was babies crazy. they are soo

    tiny.

  • Are these 4 cold or hot water?

  • Tropical and they need a litle calcium in the water for their shells.

  • I have one in a ten gallon fresh water tank, he is so fun to watch

  • lol at 0:10 a "golden apple"fell lol

  • LMAO !!!! HAHAHA , your so right , she just falls down

  • How are you so sure it's a "she"?Besides i thought snails dont have genders :/

  • Apple snails have genders.

  • 0:23

    Awesome, I have 2 zebra danios :)

  • Same happen in my country, Malaysia. I only allow to breed it at home n sell as pet in small scale. We are not allow to breed in large scale or export.

This snail previously become a pest to our agriculture.

  • Biologists fear the non-native snails because they have been shown to eat 95 percent

of the aquatic vegetation in some natural systems, leaving behind murky, algae-filled water.

Pet stores sold the snails for years, but that practice is now illegal and subject

    to Federal prosecution.

  • YAY! I used to have one, but it died...now i have a black one...don't know if its the same kind...

  • These apple snails look so healthy :D

Does ne1 know a breeder i could get apple snails from? I live in southern united states and all the petsmarts (3) and other isolated pet stores (4) either a) have sickly apple snails that look unhealthy or b) don't have them at all. any lead will be appriciate. (I really want to breed them)

  • why are they called apple snails. apples aren't even yellow.

  • some r

  • I bought 4 Pomacea Canaliculata (black&gold variety) last month, they are only 10pence size but they are amazing creatures to watch. Im planing to set up a big water snail tank eventually and get some of the other varieties. Yours are gawjus, nice vid!

  • Is it in the water? They have gills not luongs.

  • it has both

  • awesome!

  • dam girl you cant get a man that bad,so you look at snail penis, lmao hahahaha

  • the reason why your apple snails arent active is because you probably have a slow hard drive check at your local apple store, im happy to help. peace,

ps i usually charge for this type of info

  • 0:09 LOL

  • wow they are so cool...

  • This is a great video! You can see all the details of the snail so well. I have a new digital camera and even though I record on video with macro mode on for close ups, it doesn't come out as nice as this. Great vid!

  • that's one fast snail! :D

  • they seem pretty fast for snail. where did you get them and are they hard to care for?

  • ohh i had them to but my gold fishes ate them

  • what do they eat and how can tell me sex of them?

  • They eat bout anything, vege, fish pellet, fruit and etc. At the moment, I do now know how to tell the sex... sorry.

  • My apple snails aren't active like that. What am I doing wrong?

  • What's the temp of your tank? Too-cold water can make them sluggish.

  • between 76-79 Farenhieght

  • Snails are hemphrodites. (I think that's how you spell it) They're both male and female.

  • Apple snails are not hermaphrodites or asexual. They must breed male to female, with the male even inserting his penis into the female.

  • If you hold it upside down, it will come out of its shell a bit. Look above it's head to the left(their right) of their gill. If it's a male, you should be able to see the penis sheath.

  • That's really nice to know.......not.

  • "that's really nice to know...not"

lol, you sound like a bitchy 8-year old

  • would a red eared slider eat this? i need an algea cleaner.

  • Apple snails are sooo cool.

  • were do u get get a apple snail?? peto? petsmart?

  • Both. I got mine at petsmart though. They looked healthier to me than the ones they had at petco.

  • how big do they get?

  • some get up to apple size, thus the name apple snail. :-)

  • i just found snail eggs on the lid of my tank next to the light. im looking forward to having lots of baby snails in my tank

  • yeah man me 2 please make a video ,( i bought 3 golden aple snails today , they have a 50 liter thank for there own :P ( some of the little snails will go to my puffer 8's in my other bigger tank :P )

  • hey man i got 10 eggs now 1 hatched lol loads of little ones i will have :P

  • ive got apple snails and theyve got babies. I dont mean to be cruel but i love it when the snails climb so far then they fall and sink to the ground. its funny. that tank of yours is gonna be like mine soon with all those snails lol

  • 0:10 <-- Lol xD "Wheeeeeee..."

  • ahahaha yeah wiiiii

    ( me laughs )

  • @Mitowira LMFAO this made my day

  • Friska9, where u from? If you from Malaysia, then I could sell to you, but if you from oversea, then nothing I can do coz I m not allow to send it to oversea.

And for porcu, when they small, usually their color not so bright, only when they mature, you will see a very bright yellow. And make sure you have enough calcium for their shell to grow.

  • How do you know if the snails are mystery snails or apple snails? I I purchased 2 yellow snails yesterday, about 1 inch long. Not bright yellow shells, sort of a dull yellow. I want them to be apple snails so they can grow large ^_^

  • Could you give me 2 big snails? I have 3 big tanks and would LOVE to get some apple snails but i cant find any where to buy them!! Could you please answer me? And thanks soooooo much! :) your snails are a very bright color!

  • Depend on yur water temp. If it low, then you need.

  • Do you think I should use a heater I live in PA ?? PLEASE RESPOND !!! Thanks

  • yes because below 18c the apple snails are Inactive , and if you want baby snails you need a m and f , and the heater on 26+ / 28c so they think its summer and they will reproduce . Make sure to by algae tablets and feed them much ;) .

    They like cucumber 2

  • true, but all snails are a sexual, therefore 2 of any snail( from the same genus) will mate successfully!

  • WRONG , not with apple snails .

You need a MALE and a FEMALE and they can't change there gander

  • Yup, you need both Male and Female to mate. Apple snail its the only type of snail that does not change gender. And also the largest snail of all.

  • Yeah man they are so cool , I have 4 large ones and million little ones :) . My biggest is while crawling against the glass from bottum till end head 5,4 cm :P, yours?

  • Mine its bout size of softball. Hopefully it will grow until size of football! :-)

  • Hmm i hope so 2 :D take care m8

  • The only type of snail that does not change gender? THATS BULL CRAP! THERE IS NO SUCH THING THAT EVEN DOES CHANGE GENDER!

  • Actually there is. Many aquatic invertebrates, fish, lizards and amphibians do. It is quite interesting. You should really know what you are talking about before you freak out.
