  • Of course - some of his gospel recordings from this period were as superb as the pure country work he had turned to. And the guitar was actually the first instrument he ever played, even before the piano. "schlum": I'm sighing for you. Wait for that dark period in your existence - it will eventually come - when you've reached a total hopelessness without any light available, anywhere. Then reconsider the foolishness you've just written.

  • Jerry Lee Lewis playing guitar??? And gospel?

  • @chanceramone psssh atheists or whatever you are, whatever you call yourselves, its not like you're a real person or anything... call me "faithless" or "nonspiritual" or a "nonbeliever". I'm the one who isnt scared of burning in hell. I'm the one who doesn't waste every sunday morning in church reading a book of folklore. I'm the one who doesn't have to dedicate my life to an invisible man in the sky.

    By the way.

Gods magical words :thou shalt not kill... wow what a fucking lesson.

  • Agreed. This is a beautiful example of the amazing dichotomy within Jerry Lee himself - the wonderful side.

  • wow i think "the killer" is a good example that we never can judge people by our self

cause life seems to be to complicated to understand it all and call some good and others bad - my oppinion.

  • This is such a beautiful spiritual! Only God's Word will last!

  • is that backing singer on the left the security guard in Scrubs? With the hook hand?

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE hey mate. Yeah congratulations you can use fancy words like eternal throne damnation but until you prove that one wordof the bible is true, which you can't, then maybe I'll listen to you. Come joins in the 21st century moron, we don't do tales of magicl prophets and big scary demons anymore

  • @schclum Apparently, in the 21st century, there are many things we, 'don't do' anymore: proper grammar, spelling, manners, etc. Congratulations.

  • @gravut we also don't stone people to death anymore.

The people who wrote the bible did however.

You still going to buy into that book?

  • @schclum Actually, in the 21st century, people still are stoned; those are cultural traditions amongst various groups of people throughout parts of the world:

Somalia, Nigeria, Iran, Ira, Indonesia, etc. Don't confuse cultural traditions such as stoning, for the beliefs of the people (of whom many can not identified) who wrote The Bible. Such acts reflect a cultural tradition. Your'e reply reflects a lack of education. However, this doesn't excuse your poor control of the English language.

  • @gravut forgive my grammatical errors, it's what I get for typing on my cell phone. It is unfortunate that a free thinker, as yourself (and myself), you are too ignorant to understand the difference between cultural traditions and religious beliefs. There are many cultural traditions we find throughout the world with brief study. Perhaps, buying a book, will assist you in understanding the difference. Best of luck.

  • @chanceramone okay folklore shaman, thanks for warning me. Maybe if I read that book That was written by camel riding cavemen about a magical man who walked on water and the god who made it rain for 40 days and 40 nights BUT HASN'T SHOWN HIMSELF IN THELAST FUCKING TWO THOUSAND YEARS I'll learn a lot. Yeah us atheists or whatever use reason instead of faith, faith is the suspension of thinking, because your redneck parents raised you praise an invisible man in the sky you have faith.

  • Very rare to see him play a guitar!

  • Beautiful!

  • Jerry Lee Lewis is a great musician. For all who believe in religious superstitions and have submitted your self to ignorance, get a science book read it, not a mistranslated story book.

"If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him. ..."

  • guys theres no invisible father in the sky, the origin of the universe cannot be discovered and nothing happens when you die, stop being fucking children. The "lord" has nothing to do with jerry lee lewis and anything he does he is responsible for not jesus or the devil!!!! Please if youre going to believe in folklore demons and invisible ghosts dont use a computer....

  • Super Song!!!

  • JLL is hell when he's well. Elvis, my mother and I are blessed and enriched by seeing JLL come back to the Lord.

  • Jerry Lee was saved in 1970. God bless you, Jerry. We're one day closer and nearer to my Lord, everyday. Praise Jesus' sweet name.

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE why dont you just praise life and music...

  • @schclum Normally, I don't respond to one who just tries to belittle our Lord and Savior. But, in this instance, I feel the need to let you know I am praying for you. Whether or not you believe is irrelevant. God is real and on the throne. You will stand before him one day and give account of your life and whether you accepted his gift of salvation or not. It will be Heaven or eternal damnation. I encourage you to spend time in the Word, friend. Jesus saves. John 3:16... KJV..... Peace

  • Jerry Lee Lewis was sent by the Lord for all to enjoy. He is the #1 in the music world- now and FOREVER!! Killer there is only you!!

  • @jham1707 he was actually sent by his parents.

  • Thank God for shareing Jerry with us all.

  • @clyde21641 thank jerry lee lewis for sharing himself with us all

  • Did he listen to his cousin? :P

  • This was filmed in 1971 and Jerry is playing a mid fifties maple neck Stratocaster. I wonder if it belongs to his long time guitarist, Kenny Lovelace.

  • thank God for JLL's musical genius

  • R.I.P. Mammalee......

  • LOL! The one guy sure has a "fro" for sure. It sure dates this clip!

  • @estelle715 That's Sideshow Raheem before he got his big break on The Krusty Show - "angry, angry young man,,," Seriously though, it's a great clip, thanks for posting.

  • this is really interesting!

  • Uses the same lick that Elvis used on Blue Christmas

  • Really nice find, the one performer who has always had the battle of good and evil in his music and life.

  • According to the book "Great Balls of Fire", written by ex-wife Myra Lewis, the guitar was the first instrument the Killer learned to play (He plays it well in this clip). However, he felt his fingers were too short and stubby to play the guitar. When he visited a relative's house during the Christmas holidays, he saw a piano and played "Silent Night" on the black keys. He took to the piano like a fish to water and his father Elmo later got Jerry Lee his first piano. The rest is history!

  • Jerry Lee back to his roots

  • He´s playing real good on the guitar to. But his not the "killer" without his piano. But this was a very nice and rare video. Thanks bailbath-
