@BugoTrep Dave tried to in the mid 2000s but Menza had gotten out of shape and didn't care much for playing with Megadeth. Mustaine also said Menza was still up to his old tricks and bitching about different things. I think they are good with Drover. I prefer Drover over Menza.
This shows Dave's talent, beeing high and playing like this when he is so fucking young =O I will forever be a big fucking Mega Fan! I you think and are the same as me.... Thumbs UPPPP!!!!!
I love Megadeth. Don't get me wrong. They are, and always will be, one of my favorite bands of all time, but I miss THIS Megadeth. I don't know what it is anymore, its just...its not the same. I'm not saying they suck now, hell no, theyre still Megadeth, but...its just different...

@MetalChicano yep i feel the same they have a new look at making music its more like its biusness now unlike back then they made music to survive basically it wasnt sit down and write the music like they do now from endgame and this new album dave also sounds like he is trying to sound like back in the day sounds forced on the vocals i still love them and te music is damn great but just the new vibe is going to require some adjustment
good fucking double bass, just fucking love it i think this is one of the best fucking song of thrash, this song makes me say FUCK !! hahaha im just kidding, Megadeth is the real music
A friend told me that this song is and answer to Wiplash from Metallica .. maybe he is right... both songs talk about the concert... the crew...and the playing live
Guys are talking about AJFA drums and that was Lars's apex? Dude, ever hear of overdubbing? Cut and paste? @0intelligence0 Triggers dont make you play better. They just make the sound even for both pedals so one isnt louder than the other. And theyre better for live performances becuase they actually make the bass drum audible. Stop whining asshole.
@NICKHAM16 No. triggers make the sound even and same volume, so it covers up your sloppiness, and you can use a drum microphone to make them audible, but still having the ability to control the power of your kick. Drummers like Chris Adler use triggers in studio, but never live, so it shows his real technical skill. And you think using drum machine to make parts which you can't play good is alright? ok, w/e
@0intelligence0 WTF is your problem, lars dosent have to be as good as nick menza to make metallica sound good, he fits, idk about you but i listen to both megadeth and metallica, and if you only listen to one of them i feel sorry for you, but the drum triggers make the drum sound even so one isnt louder than the other, so how does that make him pathetic?? im pretty sure, nick menza used them in recordings wether youd like to admit or not... so actually youre not that intelligent
@southpark645 I love both bands, and it's not the triggers that are bad, it's the drum machines he used. Oh yeah, Menza even if he used triggers, he can play his own stuff... pretty simple
@southpark645 It's exactly how Dyers Eve sounds like... too precise. Even if you aren't a drummer, listen to the drum track, you can hear a major tone difference between normal and double bass parts, and those normal parts are sloppy as fuck.
@southpark645 You just gave me a biggest lol in a long time. No shit he isn't sloppy in studio! Haven't you heard about copy/paste? drum machines? studio tricks, retard, you can make ANYTHING you want in a studio... stop being dumb please
@0intelligence0 how am i the dumb one, youre the one who said, on the rocording the dbl bass parts on dyers eve are too precise, and the parts that arent he is sloppy, you said that about the recording dude, you just contradicted yourself so if anything im not the dumbass here
@southpark645 It proves how stupid he was because he recorded normal hits normaly (did copy/paste, but whatever) and made double bass on the drum machine hoping no one would notice that. And many blind fans really don't, or they don't want to believe he did so. But any man with ears can recognize that he used a drum machine. And, recording what you can't play live is pathetic
@southpark645 It's not about their use, those bands can play live what they record, Lars can't play it live, do you get the fucking difference already!
@southpark645 Now listen to any recording that's not on the Nimes dvd. That kick drum was dubbed in. Listen to any of the live metallica recordings that they put on their website. The drums aren't good. They don't waste their time dubbing anything in on those recordings.
@AlwaysSomething actually even megadeth use the best takes of their parts they like, every band does that... and what do you mean he cant play any AJFA live? ive seen him do blackened, harvester, one, and AJFA live, and he did them really good, and lars does a lot of improv live, so some parts he wont be able to play live, and some parts he just improvs on... you can tell the difference dude, oh BTW on pretty much all of metallica's early stuff, the engineers were lars and het.....
@southpark645 I know what you are saying, I do the same thing in my band. I go over vocals like crazy, whereas guitars I get in a couple takes, but for the most part I am able to duplicate a peformance live all the time. No I don't gig like Metallica, but I have been in a band the last 15 years, practice 3 times a week the last 10, play shows etc. I don't record things I can't duplicate live. Not saying it's against the rules to take the best take, why wouldn't you want the best on the album?
@AlwaysSomething yeah, but lars, was actually able to play pretty much everything they recorded, and he did a lot of improv throughout his whole career, so it might not seem like it, but if you watch something from seattle 89 and now, you can see a major difference, idk what is about lars, i think he dosent practice when hes not doing metallica things, but if your saying its not against the rules to put the best take on the album, but you made it a big deal??
@southpark645 I agree for the most part, but my gripe is cut and pasting drums he doesn't actually play live, because he can't really pull it off. It's not because he just improvises. Yes, he does improvise, but AJFA was made and cut and pasted beyond what he's actually capable of pulling off in real life, studio magic in other words. You don't know Lars is improvising when playing album stuff if he never actually plays it the way it is on the album in the first place, it's always different.
@AlwaysSomething OMFG, watch seattle 89, its preyyt much whats on the record, except for some parts, and its always different because he does that on purpose, i saw him say it in an interview, he does it so its something new and not the same old thing over and over again, and even if AJFA is copied and pasted, he still had to record at least one of his best takes of each of those things to go on the record, and then copied and pasted
@southpark645 I like Lars, I love Metallica, been a fan since 87, seen tons and tons of their live stuff over the years, seen them 6 or 7 times. There are lots of songs he pulls off, and actually better live sometimes, especially the Black Ab-Re-load material, it's boom bat, boom bat. The pre-black and last two albums he doesn't pull off. When he plays fast, he's sloppy, and simplifies fills and double bass parts, why because he can't really pull it off as a drummer could or should.
@AlwaysSomething well yeah i know that part, but, he cant pull it off, because hes tired and lazy now, and probably dosent practice when hes not doing metallica things, so i see what you mean, but did you see blackened and fade to black, ilve nimes 2009? lars was amazing that night! and on the mexico city DVD, lars may not be the most technical drummer, but he fits metallica, can you imagine metallica without lars?!?!? thats like pizza without the pepperoni, batman without joker...
@southpark645 If Lars is just improvising all the time, then I feel cheated. How arrogant do you have to be to decided "I'm not playing the same everytime", " I'm bored of these parts, fuck it, I will just play the way I want". The song is the song. Kirk would improvise by adding notes or playing a slight variation of a solo, Lars changes where hits come in, simplify fills, kind of waters down the songs. Good drummers don't do this. Lars is a great musician, just not a great drummer
Lars is one of the most least respected drummers alive. Scruffy all the way around, thinks never ending snare ruffs count as "fills", and to top is a complete douchebag .
Hard to think of anyone more unlikeable than a no-talent snark who's arrogant about how much money he could be making if only his pesky fans weren't getting in the way....
@hammerofmariotos okay sure lars isnt as good as any megdeth drummers i'll admit, but "fills" dont have to be all over the toms all the time, and no talent? have you ever heard blackened? yeah he isnt the most technical drummer, but he fits metallica, and he does what he's supposed to, and how is lars a douche? because him and his band had the balls to stand up against stealing music, instead of paying for it? oh BTW both metallica and megadeth can be traced back to lars, so you should respect
@southpark645 Megadeth can be traced back to Lars? I guess I see your logic, had Lars not wanted a guitarist, Dave wouldn't have auditioned and would never be kicked out, and never formed Megadeth. Then again, it seems as if either way it was destiny that Metallica and Megadeth would be famous. I mean, how do you get kicked from the biggest metal band to form the second biggest. Yes second by a far margin, but second nonetheless. I think it's amazing to be honest. Dave should be proud.
@AlwaysSomething well if dave had never been kicked out, there wouldve been no megadeth, so im actually kind of glad dave got kicked out, because we got 2 great bands out of it, and not one
nick menza simply didn't play Rattlehead like Gar; he just didn't have that slick phrasing and feel. However, I still enjoy Nicks drumming, he's very true to the song just like Gar.
i think he is just tired and lazy, his stuff from ride the lightning to black album was as good as anything menza could play but from black album, my god....lars was terrible.
@JoshyMyers From ride the lightning to the black album the drumming is good. Why the black album because he was solid and the drumming fit the music perfectly and it sound great ( imagining putting blasts beat in nothing else matters.....that would have sucked) but during the load era and st.anger was just terrible
i know AJFA was his masterpeice, great drumming....he is just a tired old man i think, if gar samulesson was still with megadeth i think he would be just as lazy as ulrich, but at least ulrich wasnt a heroin addict!
@zackattack94 Bullshit It might have fit good, but it's not all about playing fast, Lars has NO technical ability compared to anyone who was in Megadeth, and drummers like Gar had phrasing unbeatable by anyone
@zackattack94 how is lars shit? listen to fade to black live seattle 89, and fade to black live from the today era, its almost exactly the same thing still, oh and watch blackened from nimes, he can still do the double bass, and still do the quick, color our world blackened fill, you want to know why megadeth drummers are so good, because they leave or get kicked outta megadeth, im sure if they had one drummer their whole carrer, he would be tired too, look at dave he's worn and tired too
Lars Ulrich could probably learn a thing or or two from Nick Menza.

AlwaysSomething 11 months ago
@AlwaysSomething well yeah i know that part, but, he cant pull it off, because hes tired and lazy now, and probably dosent practice when hes not doing metallica things, so i see what you mean, but did you see blackened and fade to black, ilve nimes 2009? lars was amazing that night! and on the mexico city DVD, lars may not be the most technical drummer, but he fits metallica, can you imagine metallica without lars?!?!? thats like pizza without the pepperoni, batman without joker...
southpark645 11 months ago
@southpark645 If Lars is just improvising all the time, then I feel cheated. How arrogant do you have to be to decided "I'm not playing the same everytime", " I'm bored of these parts, fuck it, I will just play the way I want". The song is the song. Kirk would improvise by adding notes or playing a slight variation of a solo, Lars changes where hits come in, simplify fills, kind of waters down the songs. Good drummers don't do this. Lars is a great musician, just not a great drummer

Agreed to all.
Lars is one of the most least respected drummers alive. Scruffy all the way around, thinks never ending snare ruffs count as "fills", and to top is a complete douchebag .
Hard to think of anyone more unlikeable than a no-talent snark who's arrogant about how much money he could be making if only his pesky fans weren't getting in the way....
hammerofmariotos 1 year ago
@hammerofmariotos okay sure lars isnt as good as any megdeth drummers i'll admit, but "fills" dont have to be all over the toms all the time, and no talent? have you ever heard blackened? yeah he isnt the most technical drummer, but he fits metallica, and he does what he's supposed to, and how is lars a douche? because him and his band had the balls to stand up against stealing music, instead of paying for it? oh BTW both metallica and megadeth can be traced back to lars, so you should respect
southpark645 11 months ago
@southpark645 Megadeth can be traced back to Lars? I guess I see your logic, had Lars not wanted a guitarist, Dave wouldn't have auditioned and would never be kicked out, and never formed Megadeth. Then again, it seems as if either way it was destiny that Metallica and Megadeth would be famous. I mean, how do you get kicked from the biggest metal band to form the second biggest. Yes second by a far margin, but second nonetheless. I think it's amazing to be honest. Dave should be proud.
AlwaysSomething 11 months ago
@AlwaysSomething well its basically right, its if james and lars had not wanted a guitarist, but yeah
southpark645 11 months ago
@AlwaysSomething well if dave had never been kicked out, there wouldve been no megadeth, so im actually kind of glad dave got kicked out, because we got 2 great bands out of it, and not one
southpark645 11 months ago
nick menza simply didn't play Rattlehead like Gar; he just didn't have that slick phrasing and feel. However, I still enjoy Nicks drumming, he's very true to the song just like Gar.

@MegaLDeth Nah Whiplash wasn't Dave's. He wrote Mechanix, Jump in the Fire, Phantom Lord, and Metal Militia as well as parts of Ride the Lightning.
suugakublues 1 year ago
@suugakublues
Dont forget Jump In the Fire. that was first song Dave ever wrote.
LolEpicFailGuy 1 year ago
@suugakublues lets not forget call of ktulu ... dave basically wrote that song and then wrote hangar 18 on the same chords .. basically

@021Sweden im pretty sure dave didnt write practically all of call of ktulu, he did have a major part in ktulu though

Look guys, Lars is beast...he's the only drummer that I know can go from making amazing improving to becoming shit
zackattack94 1 year ago
@zackattack94
i think he is just tired and lazy, his stuff from ride the lightning to black album was as good as anything menza could play but from black album, my god....lars was terrible.
JoshyMyers 1 year ago
@JoshyMyers From ride the lightning to the black album the drumming is good. Why the black album because he was solid and the drumming fit the music perfectly and it sound great ( imagining putting blasts beat in nothing else matters.....that would have sucked) but during the load era and st.anger was just terrible
zackattack94 1 year ago
@zackattack94
i know AJFA was his masterpeice, great drumming....he is just a tired old man i think, if gar samulesson was still with megadeth i think he would be just as lazy as ulrich, but at least ulrich wasnt a heroin addict!
JoshyMyers 1 year ago
@zackattack94 Bullshit It might have fit good, but it's not all about playing fast, Lars has NO technical ability compared to anyone who was in Megadeth, and drummers like Gar had phrasing unbeatable by anyone
tempermentel 1 year ago
@zackattack94 how is lars shit? listen to fade to black live seattle 89, and fade to black live from the today era, its almost exactly the same thing still, oh and watch blackened from nimes, he can still do the double bass, and still do the quick, color our world blackened fill, you want to know why megadeth drummers are so good, because they leave or get kicked outta megadeth, im sure if they had one drummer their whole carrer, he would be tired too, look at dave he's worn and tired too

Saying Lars is better than Menza is the same as saying that Hammet is better than Broderick...
