I'm a big fan of FBH, because he is one of the most entertaining players in the pro scene, but...

"In the old days" FBH was great to watch, even if he lost he managed to make it look interesting, now he constantly goes for these boring cheese rushes or standard non-entertaining play :(

Anyway, on Violet's part: Loved the probe drill/surround, using the mineral patches from his scouting probe. He reacted perfectly to FBH's rush and deserved to win because of it.

Really, what's so hard about this matchup? why can't these otherwise good players beat Protoss?

Because TvP P starts a whole unit cycle ahead..it's the T's hardest matchup as far as standard play goes.

in standard mech vs gateways, without micro/terrain advantage, T army will lose against P army. P army is much more mobile (seiged tanks don't move) and wins in smaller #s engagements so T has to keep his entire army together. Also T builds slower than P and turrets < cannons so P should always have more $, +1 bases than T so he can remake army faster (gateway 150 min vs fact 200/100 + shop for tanks another 50/50)

Yes that's the historical breakdown.

Valkyrie missiles freak out sometimes when there are too many units on screen (such as when Carriers are on screen) thus they hardly get used

The most important part of Violet's defense was that he kept the scouting probe at the minerals at 9 (the observer was showing this), so he could drill probes in that direction. Smart play.

supposedly some minor changes within the bases (i duno which), but mainly that old medusa had all cracked ground in the middle so you couldnt build anything on it, and neo medusa doesnt. (there's still a bit just outside the mains, but thats it)

and yeah lately fbh has indeed been a (stale) cheese factory =/
