It also exposed them for what they essentially were: four separate men who made each other much better than they were on thier own...Paul sanded the edges off Johns, John de-wussified Pauls, George showed that p and j's songwriting genius was just a matter of learning. And Ringo...well, they loved "don't pass me by" in germany, and I'm not complainin...

A lot of that negative press about the album, was actually targeted at the artistic self indulgence John got into with Yoko in Revolution number 9. Meanwhile Georges always had to put up a fight to have a few minutes of his great songs released.. The public was used to EMI Georges Martin's polished studio productions. On that album they had a more organic even garage sound that was actually quite refreshing.
