It's not about the fighting. If he is monk then its usaly wise to understand spirituality I myself am not a budist but I don't even know the religion... I do however meditate. It makes you feel happy, calm, peacefullness, fulfillment, and when you finish your meditation refreshed. The martial arts are usaly supposed to be to keep the flow of energy through your body. That's what iv always thought.of I'm wrong please correct me.
@gingowitch karma doesn't exist, "good" and "bad" are just perceptions, what you think may be "bad" may be "good" to someone else, I'm sure you think of "karma" as universal, so you're actually saying that the universe is biased.
@DaTruthsHere there are certain rules that you must follow, called the ten precepts of bodhidharma. While what you say might be true in meditation of course, acting like a fool before attaining enlightenment will result in karmas that you must pay off.
