  • Yeah, I knew about that, apart from the 2002 'refresh' if you like. Am I right in thinking that in 1999, the Evening News was effectively News At Ten's 'replacement'? I mean, as you say, it had it's own different version of the titles which seperated it from the rest, it ended with the images of the day and I think it even had the same editorial team? Anyway, thanks for that info. I only really learn these things from clips and info from people such as your good self.

  • ...although, come to think of it, the 2002 'refresh' may have occured around September. I recall reading on The TV Room that the ITV Morning News gained a proper set of titles then, when it began being transmitted on the then-renamed ITV News Channel as well as ITV. These titles carried the new lettering and such like here.

  • Good to see Katie here on the Lunchtime News - I'm sure she presented just as much as Owen, thus they were paired by the time of the ITV Day exercise. Is it just me, or have these titles been 'redone' somewhat to accomodate five bongs? They look slightly better here.

  • From the beginning: the Evening News had its own title sequence with no headlines, while the Lunchtime and weekend bulletins all had the same set-up seen here. When NaT returned in 2001, the Evening News adopted the titles used for the other bulletins. All titles were remade sometime in 2002 - the lettering looked slightly different and an extra headline introduced. Finally, around July 2003 the colouring was changed to blue/yellow and the title music adjusted to allow longer headlines.
