Inception was a masterpiece, it deserved best picture but I don't think it should've dominated the awards because the competition was pretty damn good

@WHELAN489 Have you seen it? It isn`t boring at all. It is actually quite funny. The dialog is supreme, and the actors - down to every child and corgy - fulfills their part to the highest standard. This is one of the few films I have seen this year, where I didn`t look at my watch ones during its entire running time. I did with Inception. It struck me reasonably soon that the suicide thing was a kick - so the ending didn`t come as a surprise. But it took kind of long to get there.

I was talking about inception for months. I even questioned my own existence watching inception. When that happens then you know it is a great movie. Christopher Nolan doesn't get any credit from the academy. He is most likely like "F*CK Them, I am just going to keep making epic movies"

Mainly since the academy are roughly 5000 people (all fresh nominees are added - but off course some of the older dies from year to year), who can vote for best film, and most of them are no longer active in the industry - and the majority reasonable well off too. But big studioes support their films with adds and handed out DVD copies - so, you are right, in a way. Lets say it is more like running for office than being bestowed an honour.

Inception is the Avatar of this year's Oscars. It is one of the greatest movies of the year. People talk about it for months. It's nominated for best picture, but it gets completely snubbed at the box office.
inception was great, but i don't think it has the whole package compared to some of the other movies nominated. it was definitely a technical and special effects film with a great story and AMAZING directing (chris nolan def got snubbed there), but i think the acting wasn't up to par. don't get me wrong, all the actors were great, but compared to colin firth, natalie portman, and christian bale in their respective categories, it just wasn't there.

Well to be fair, Avatar didn't deserve to win for best picture, sorry, it's a conceptual and visual interesting master-piece, but the story-telling and characters are to much on formula.
I don't think that's the case with Inception though, but I don't really think you can compare those two films.
well allready my favourite movies of the year are in this group. Inception, Kings Speech, and Black Swan. All 3 brilliant movies, all 3 not sequels/remakes, and all 3 not being made to win an oscar but to make the best movie possible, and it shows. If none of those 3 win i'm going to do a video of me just flipping the bird for a minute or 2 at the camera and calling it something like "a special message to the oscar judges"

The "Porn" scene you referred to lasted no more than some 10 seconds, and it was shot in such a way where you didn't really see anything at all except a few reaction shots. I've seen far more skin and steamy scenes in other Oscar nominated films.

I've seen everything but toy story 3, and I have to say my least favorite is The Social Network, ironically. lol. It's not that I didn't like it, it's just it didn't blow me away like some of the other movies, like Black Swan, Inception, and even 127 hours & winter's bone.

I highly disagree with the "Oscar In-Crowd" concept. A movie gets nominated if it deserves a nomination, nothing more, nothing less. If this "Oscar in-Crowd" thing is real, then it is the dumbest abuse of power I have ever seen, in film.

My choices to win are.. Christian Bale, Melissa Leo, Natalie Portman, & the one man Jay & Silent Bob himself.. Colin Firth, for acting honors. The Social Network will walk away for Best Picture Honors. if not it'll be True Grit.

Black Swan was definitely the best movie in the past year... much better then inception or the social network. well, i didn't see the king's speech but i think black swan has to win the oscar. it is really an amazing movie...

It would just be a tragedy if inception doesn't win, the acting and directing of that movie is nothing short of movie art, the best movie I've seen Leonardo DiCaprio in for a long time and if it doesn't win best picture I will have lost the ever decreasing amount of respect I have towards the Academy's credibility.

inception was great, but i don't think it has the whole package compared to some of the other movies nominated. it was definitely a technical and special effects film with a great story and AMAZING directing (chris nolan def got snubbed there), but i think the acting wasn't up to par. don't get me wrong, all the actors were great, but compared to colin firth, natalie portman, and christian bale in their respective categories, it just wasn't there.

@ReserviorBasterds i don't think so. it was a great movie but social network, the king's speech, and black swan were, in my opinion, a little better. inception was mostly about the visuals, which isn't a bad thing b/c they were the best visuals i've seen all year, and i felt like something was lacking but i can't place my finger on it. that doesn't mean i don't think inception deserves recognition, i just think it should win for the technical stuff like avatar (although inception was better)

Well to be fair, Avatar didn't deserve to win for best picture, sorry, it's a conceptual and visual interesting master-piece, but the story-telling and characters are to much on formula.
I don't think that's the case with Inception though, but I don't really think you can compare those two films.

well allready my favourite movies of the year are in this group. Inception, Kings Speech, and Black Swan. All 3 brilliant movies, all 3 not sequels/remakes, and all 3 not being made to win an oscar but to make the best movie possible, and it shows. If none of those 3 win i'm going to do a video of me just flipping the bird for a minute or 2 at the camera and calling it something like "a special message to the oscar judges"

@BeyondTheTrailer Grace have you actually seen Black Swan? I hope you didn't buy into the media spin, you're better than that. The "Porn" scene you referred to lasted no more than some 10 seconds, and it was shot in such a way where you didn't really see anything at all except a few reaction shots. I've seen far more skin and steamy scenes in other Oscar nominated films.

I wasn't completely disappointed at the oscar noms this year, though I hope this 10 best picture nominations doesn't keep up... it feels very gimmicky
I've seen everything but toy story 3, and I have to say my least favorite is The Social Network, ironically. lol. It's not that I didn't like it, it's just it didn't blow me away like some of the other movies, like Black Swan, Inception, and even 127 hours & winter's bone.
