@Glockenator iwill be rude and say the reason we have the playing, recording and guitar orchestration now; is because of les paul. he had a few friends to help him...leo fender and rickenbacher. these men are the reason u have electric guitars. ask a professional about multi track recording. ummmm yeah that wes les paul.
GuitarSnipper meant no offense. I have arrived late to the yt music party and trying to make up for lost time. I search every artist and title I can to learn more.
Les and Mary are priceless treasures of Americana. The pioneers of multitracking - many of us just listen and enjoy, without going "Whoa, wait a minute, i hear a whole chorus of voices, but there's only two of them!" Innocently thinking there are other backup vocalists off camera ( there are, it's just that they're all Mary!)
SHe adored him, and then divorced him I believe. The big story is the major car accident Les got into way back then...they were going to amputate his arm.
In many of these clips you can tell that Mary adored Les. They show that timeless and harmonious couple dynamic that has gone lost as of now. Notice how he makes fun of her sculpting in a charming way. Women love that. A man would take offense, women don't.
Back in the days when five minute "across-the-board" programs were popular, Les and Mary filmed a daily musical interlude that was widely syndicated in 1954-'55, nationally sponsored by Warner-Lambert, the makers of Listerine, and their "Richard Hudnut" (hair care products) subsidiary. The series was filmed in New York, using the DuMont "Electronicam" film system ["live" cameras simultaneously using film magazines], later used on Jackie Gleason's 1955-'56 "HONEYMOONERS" series.
Can't you edit out the damm commercials?

Heh heh...
Yeah, I noticed that too. I guess Lester didn't marry her for her brains.
GrumpyPolecat 4 years ago 2
No, he married her for her talent, looks, character, intelligence, business savvy, and personality...not her brains...

Bambi looks like a mutated Thumper. I love her singing but sculpting is not for her.
