does the iroquois top string method affect your catching at all?or is it pretty much the same? does the ball catch on it like it would mesh if the ball were to land there?
@ExplosivePineappple depends on how large the holes are and/or how tight you have it, but it shouldn't have a huge effect. I'm able to switch back and forth from a standard top to an Iroquois and not feel the difference when I catch, but that's just me, so I guess it also depends on the person.
@fasthockeyfan21 loop through the first, skip one, loop though one, skip one, loop the two center holes, skip one, loop one, skip, loop though the last hole and tie off. It's a piece of 10d mesh so 10 holes total are used. Pause around 6:22 to get a a better idea of what it looks like.
@MRAI19 You wanted to learn to string the Iroquois, I showed you how the Iroquois. Stop complaining. Different types of mesh both throw and look differently and there are people who would find that information useful. Apparently you didn't, and I don't really care so take the sarcasm somewhere else kiddo.
@thelaxinsmurf98 if you string it the wrong way the pocket may become illegal. What I show in the video is legal, the only issues you need to worry about with legality are the same with any other pocket (i.e. depth, sidewall pinch, hold). There are no rules against the Iroquois; if a ref actually calls you for it then he doesn't know what he's talking about.
@batslax the only way the Iroquois could cause this would be if you over-tightened it, giving it an extremely tight channel, which can simply be solved by loosening it. If that isn't the cause then it has to do with how you strung your sidewalls.
@batslax the Iroquois is 100% legal. Either you strung it wrong or your ref is blind. It works for some people better than others, and if it doesn't work for you then don't use it. Take the hate somewhere else; if you ask anyone else how to string a traditional Iroquois they will tell you exactly what I said and did in this video. Good luck finding a better one.
what is so special about this string job. I'm a fogo and this one indian kid had this string job. He was trying to tell me that it helps him with faceoffs.
@inoscopedlincoln It's supposed to give you a snappy release. Whether or not it could help you with faceoffs depends on your style. I've heard that there are legality issues regarding the size of the holes in the topstring; if they're big enough, literally all you have to do is clamp the ball before the other guy. This has been debated legal or not; I'm not sure if this is what your friend is talking about, but give the Iroquois a try if you want. Keep in mind it could mess up your ground balls.
@RandomVoid509 AV8 pinched to three inches. I wouldn't recommend using it (pinched or unpinched); I've had it for 3 years and use it for stringing purposes only.
When i tighten my top string for the Iroquois, it stretches the mesh to the point where the ball wont even release, should i loosen the top string? Will it lose its quick release affect if i do this?
@CLlax28 I haven't tried it, with 6 holes in comparison to 10 you would need to change how many holes you skip and where you skip them. You may also need to alter where you interlock. I'll give it a try and let you know
@joshridesbikes199 i tried it but for some reason the part of the mesh that was tied to the sidewall kept bunching so just about every other throw was straight whipping down. it was weird, like the ball wouldn't get caught in my sidewall pinch, but would get stuck in the mesh
@CLlax28 If you didn't pull down the mesh tight enough for the first 2-3 holes this might be the cause, as well as which sidewall holes you used. You said that the ball isn't getting stuck on the sidewall pinch so I'm guessing that means the ball is hooking on the top edge of the mesh. In this case, your pocket might be too defined or too high, so you should adjust where you double up/interlock, as well as adjust your shooter tension. If I could actually see it, it would be easier to understand.
@canonlacrosse49 as of right now, every head I have is pinched either to, or past, the NCAA/high school legal limit (3 inches at the throat), and I don't want to have to go through the trouble to pinch and then unpinch a head. Once I get a wider head, I'll try and remember to make a video.
is this possible with 6 diamond?

@ilovebobandahalf Iroquois tend to cause more whip so it has potential to mess up your clears.
