  • Actually, during the recording of St.Anger, I think it was Hammett, said in an interview the album was gonna sound "a bit like Entombed".

  • are you sure entombed got that riff BEFORE metallica?

  • I Hate Metallica!

  • Entombed >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Metallica.

  • @opticomxDDDDDDDDDDDD agree Metallica sucks balls

  • Metallica warms up by playing other bands music who they admire, this has been their method for decades ----- check out all the other videos online which they "steal" - slayer, cannibal corpse, killing joke, etc. - you silly uninformed ignorant goose.

  • @Anarchosyndicalism1 - dude, this is not a warming up.. it's a metallica song with a riff that sounds very much the same as entombed..

  • Metallica have always been theives.

  • probably not there are only so many riffs

  • after watching that, the riff has now been ruined for me by both! funny vid!

  • There's something true hidden here: long time ago, before Entombed (as Nihilist) and many other good bands invented death metal from the wrecks of thrash, a... wreckage really killed Metallica.

  • Naaaa it's not the same...

  • sounds just like a random riff to me. just my opinion.

  • metallica died a Long time ago!

  • i'd love to put a bullet in Ulrichs Snare!

  • not only thatmetallica stole Mechanix by megadeth and slowed it down and called it Four horsemen GAY! slowing shti down

  • @ihavenovideosable they had to slow it down otherwise they couldn't play the song without making mistakes

  • @ihavenovideosable now the 2nd round....it's NOT always the faster the better! I don't think you have any idea of music at all,you are just another hater without true arguments...metallica slowed the song down cause the sound can be cleaner this way.....IT'S MUSIC,NOT Α STREET RACE! YOU ARE GAY,NOT THEM! THEY HAVE BECOME LEGENDS!YOU ARE A HAIR OF YOUR DADDY'S BALLS

  • @metallopaido so you say: "yes they stole the song, but it's slowed down so it's ok." really?

  • @MrProwner THEY DIDN'T STEEL IT!!! Dave had written this song FOR METALLICA! If he had a problem with the fact that metallica keep playing this song as their song,he'd propably do something...I love metallica and megadeth....but I don't think metallica have become greater than megadeth because of dave's songs...Stop judging the bands this way dude...

  • @metallopaido Megadeth, thought we were talking about Entombed, anyways, you still said: " metallica slowed the song down."

  • lol Metallica is a band of theives, i mean look ride the lightning was written by Dave Mustaine and played by the new guy. When Dave was in Metallica he invented their sound, now they're just gay.

  • @ihavenovideosable hey man...there is something you must understand, you and the other metallica haters...when someone wants to call himself a PROFESSIONAL,when he is working with an artist/band,any work that will do,any songs or riffs he'll write for this band,STAYS IN THE BAND,because it was written for THIS BAND!metallica had never tell "ride the lightning has been written by us"!otherwise,NO ONE WOULD KNOW THAT THIS SONG IS MUSTAINE'S!

  • metallica is shit

  • Enter Sandman for a FACT was ripped off of Excel's song Tapping Into The Emotional Void.

  • both riff are totally different, they may sound the same, but totally different, how about you find a video of entombed with em playing the guitar so you can see what chords they are playing versus the mets, im sure youll SEE a huge difference then

  • @thcase36 and then im sure that would put a stop to this useless waste of time get a life comparing of riff, instead of listening to a clean sounding met and a horrible recording to your video of entombed people are going to continue to say stupid crap, cant even hear entombed clearly enough

  • @thcase36 Every chord every sound, anything of the sort has been created in music these days, its hard to be original

  • Who gives a rats ass...most everything in rock and metal has been done before in some variation... if you like it...listen to it. end of story

  • op has no ears!

  • M IS SHIT!

  • this is great, metallica and entombed should record a jamsesson

  • Stolen Metallica has no new ideas

  • The only real metal is 90's Death Metal and everything before that! As for Metallica, when Cliff died they died!

  • @fpgrind WOAH! Dismember is one of the best old school death metal in the 90 !

  • metallica fucking blows donkey balls for quarters....what a bumnch of fucking pussies...wah wah wah on the whole dvd some kind of cry baby....

  • all you metallica fuck heads in denial... they fucking ripped it its the exact same fucking riffs 100%

  • The riffs have the same notes, yes. But they're a bit different. They sound alike, yes, but that's because both riffs are simple and piss easy to come up with.

  • I really i don't care that much about stolen riffs, unless maybe I was part of some obscure band and some mainstream shit band stole my idea, THEN I'd be raging hard. I do understand, however, that there really are only so many riffs you can create without unintentionally "stealing a riff". As long as they mix it up enough to make it their own, I don't see too much of a problem. That being said though, fuck Metallica. They haven't put out a good album since the 80's.

  • Dude, it's a simple riff. You do understand there's only so many patterns with power chords, no? That said, Entombed is the shit... Metallica is shit.

  • When you want to hear it - you hear it. I hear similarities, but you can't invent a simple riff in metal anymore, someone will eventually accuse of stealing it. What's important is context, and purify and wreckage have nothing in common there.

  • its not a very complex riff. its possible that its just coincidence.

  • entombed kick the shit out of metallica. metallica has not brought out a solid album in a very long time.

  • wait, did metallica even use that riff? theyre jamming to it but did it make it onto the st anger album?

  • @fatalityhawk Who knows, I'm not sure if anyone has listened to the FULL album lol. Jokes aside, I don't seem to remember it on any song, maybe the riff policeman who made the video could point out which fucking song was it, eh? What I find most amusing is everyone flaming about Metallica lol

  • @qyxzz im an ardent metallica fan and i think they're flaming mainly because not only did metallica use a similar riff, they used it on a really shitty song lol. metallica have done this before, they lifted the sanitarium riff off rainbow warrior by bleak house and the four horsemen bridge off sweet home alabama by skynyrd but in both cases the end result was an awesome song. this, not so much.

  • @fatalityhawk It's Purify.

  • @qyxzz ah, cheers... but fuck man as a metallica fan who has heard virtually every song theyve ever put out i cant forgive them for taking "inspiration" from entombed because that was by far the worst fuckin' song on their discography!

  • Similar, but Metallica plays guitar in 'E' while Entombed plays in drop 'C'. Basically to play in drop C you would tune your low E string down to low C and then tune the remaining five strings to your new low C string like regular: EX. every 5th fret, 4th fret for the B-string. Better get some heavy strings if you want to try it.

  • @JTSA58 the days of metallica playing in standard e tuning are long gone... they were in drop d for saint anger. last album they did in standard e was ride the lightning.

  • @SuperDZproductions

Are you sure about that? The guitar tab book for And Justice For All says tune to 'E' and the songs sound great when you play them. After that album I wouldn't know what key they play in. When I was in high school I was excited about the new Metallic album coming out (the black album), then I heard Enter Sandman on the radio and never bought Metallic anything ever again.

  • I've got one thing to say get a life :P

  • The only difference is that Entombed's riff, progresses more. Fuck Metallica.

  • also from Darkthrone (Land of Frost)

  • LMAO

    same fucking Riff exactly

  • Metallica are fucking dickheads anyway

  • what is the name of the song by entombed? really fucking powerfull, loved.

  • @93RSilva

    wreckage

  • @RoebenSwart May the gods of metal bless you my friend \m/

  • Yeah but METALLICA.are fucking shite..ENTOMBED are class.SIMPLES.

  • I've often thought that St Anger sounded like a poor take on the whole Death n Roll sound Entombed had going...

  • I am a fan of both bands and I think videos like this are useles

  • Guilty.

  • tbh music has developed so much to the point now where it's hard to tell if you are using someone else's ''riff'' for all we know Metallica could have had legal written permissions to use the riff, If so, and i believe it would have been the case, then it is perfectly fine. or else there would have been a fucking huge lawsuit by now.

  • you are just fuckin idiots...and bullshit motherfuckers!!

  • I beleive they didn't ....i think that metallica maybe never heard that song, or, maybe they don't even listening metal anymore!

  • @OldSchoolMetalScum jason said, before st. anger was released, that metallica was into entombed..

  • @RoebenSwart Then it's possible if thats true!

  • @OldSchoolMetalScum entombed just pulled off the sound of St anger years before.that punk metal raw sound beginning with wolverine blues and topping it with uprising...pretty cool underwhelmed metal if you ask me.

  • I don't really think it's a rip-off, since every riff in St.Anger is the same stupid crap, they are just like some:

    0-3-5

    0-3-5

    random progressions, repeated to death

  • lol. All this "stole melody/riff/whatever" is such bullshit. Composing music means that you WILL stumble on some riffs some dude made somewere in time. just live with it

  • @wyldeyouth Don't be so naive. When there's a lot of money to be made, people will do anything to get it. Madonna for example has been guilty of it many times.

  • @bobokk .. I believe that youre the one whos naive. I play music, and it happens on a daily basis that i find myself playing something that sounds very similair to other popular stuff..

    It's just a fact; music isn't endless.

  • @wyldeyouth Yeah but do you release it as your own music? There's also a big difference between similar and outright stealing. Research plagiarism cases - it's happened a lot in music but it's not often mentioned in the news.

  • @bobokk No I do not produce and sell my music. But I hardly think that a famouse group like Metallica would "steal" riffs from Entombed. Now bear in mind that im a huge Entombed fan.

Metallica has always been picky about their recordings so I don't think they would steal just to make 1 song. They can come up with good stuff of their own.

  • @wyldeyouth Good stuff? Have you actually heard St. Anger? My dog could make a better album than that piece of shit.

  • @bobokk Have you actually listend to this video? The riffs are similair. So what your saying is that Entombed produce shit aswell? take it easy man..

  • @wyldeyouth Wrong. Two bands can play exactly the same song and one can be awesome and the other can be terrible. Look at all the covers Metallica did. Totally ruined them all.

  • I love Entombed, but no. Not even close to being the same riff.

  • Metallica haven't made a decent album in 20 years and i'm sick of hearing them.

Entombed on the other hand are excellent.

  • one question who the fuck is Entombed

  • @jdharm22 Turn in your metal spurs and never, ever speak of the genre again. Disgraceful.

  • @jdharm22 Are you trolling?

  • @jdharm22 They're one of those bands which are much better than Metallica.

  • sounds similiar but there are differences. Still, metallica is alright, but i wouldnt put it past them to copy a riff or two.

  • dousen't sound the same... Metallica rules

  • Or MAYBE! Metallica was playing an Entombed song! Aha!

  • The real question is... when was fucking Entombed on MTV?!

  • @TheMjolniir

    looong time ago

  • @RoebenSwart yeah Like late 80's and early 90's before the Headbangers Ball turned into AlternativeBall with Seattle Scum!

  • @TheMjolniir on Headgiver's Ball...probably when you passed out because it was on insanely late.

  • @TheMjolniir that was before MTV become EMOTV.

  • Lars is the fucking weakest drummer in metal. Hes such a little bitch he cant even hit them hard

  • @TanukiGrana lololololol he might not be the best but your statement still sounds fucking stupid, u mad?

  • @Bloatful Umm yea actually I am mad, he held them back then and he holds them back now. What was fucking stupid about my statement??

  • @TanukiGrana

Lars is a fucking great frontman/singer who used to be Morbid's drummer ages ago. (actually, when Metallica was still playing thrash.)

By the way, talking about Lars... Goran Petrov.

  • @TanukiGrana

yes yes yes, he is a fuckking looser. I think they should fire the noob immideatly

  • @TanukiGrana weak drummer? have you not heard "...And Justice for All"?

  • @N75911 Yes I have heard it, the drums have great production that's all.

  • @TanukiGrana No he just isn't good.

  • @TanukiGrana If your hitting your drums hard your not playing right. You need more than just a heavy hand to play metal.

  • @GrimRDrag YEH OK tell that to John Bonham and Carmine Appice...

  • even if they did it shouldnt count because that album was badsauce

    talking about st. anger

  • Metallica Suck s

  • Entombed sounds way better than Mehtallica ever will anyways and regardless we all know over here Hetfield has been ripping us off for decades. Most of the best metal both originated and continues to be the best in Europe. Groups like Mehtallica and Fagadeth are only cheap market whore sell-out representations of originals. Cardboard cut-outs if you will.. hardly like the real thing.

  • Metallica would improve very much if

    they should sound like Entombed

Death metal forever,Metallica are pussy gays

  • and how many bands sound like metallica? st anger isn't the best album from metallica, and probably the less popular.but the rules for the metal's riffs are the same for a lot of metal bands.(and they play on drop, the choice of rythme riffs isn't so large, especially in the metal)

this song is really good, certainly entombed too, but we can't compare so easily.and you forgot to make us listen to jame's voice. Really different from entombed!

Two bands, two songs.sorry for my english,i'm french

  • @wayk62 Blatantly stealing a riff is stealing a riff. The metal bands I like are the ones who use very unique riffs. This particular riff is a stretch, but james admited point blank he's "lifted" riffs, and refused to mention from who. If he had given credit, hes at least turning people onto the other guy, but by not giving credit hes trying to edge the other person out of the picture. Its just wrong.

  • @haysoos7 No excuses, I agree. But I still like metalica, for years, and Purify, is certainly my favourite from st.anger. But why i'm not loving entombed? I hear two songs, really. I like ac/dc, and airbourne sounds like this legendary band. But finally i like airbourne too. I'm open mind about this subject, when you play in a kind of music,it's not easy to play something that doesn't remind an other band (i play guitar, so I see it every time I try to create a riff,or a solo).

  • @haysoos7 But I agree, James would have to name entombed like the first creator of the riff.

  • metallica sux

  • @meska0 ur mother sux
