Yes I would always be honest that it's a sales call........ I don't think it's appropriate to mislead them. If the gatekeeper is always blocking you then I would look at another route to make contact like getting there direct dial by websites like data.com or maybe linkedin....

What would you do when the gatekeeper says all calls get screened before patching through, and what are you calling about? Would you tell that gatekeeper that you're a sales call?
