What i do is just google search the app name along with a .apk at the end and sometimes download for example

google search: appprotectorpro.apk [all togethor] or

google search: appprotectorpro.apk download

I actually google search it in my phone so then i can download and install right away with no extra work =]

on the subject of installing paid apps...and the market not showing purchased. Some apps have written into their apps to force updates...so...if you have an old version, and they update their app, it forces you to update (and you cant even use the app till you do)...so when you go to the market...its not going to show the new version was purchased, and likely you wont be able to find the newest version online right away.

BUT....if you have a friend that has paid for an app and is getting the new version updates...they can actually email you the newest version .apk file through gmail and root explorer. I use root explorer myself, but they would just have to go to their apps folder, long press on the apk file, select send, select gmail...and send it to you. Once you download the .apk attachment via gmail, it takes you to the installation prompt..and there ya go. New version.

I installed the lock 2.0 app, picked out a skin, applied it, tried it and it works well, but it doesn't work if my phone locks itself. anyone else having this issue? If I manually lock it, lock 2.0 will come up when I unlock it and it works for about a min, but always reverts to the stock lock. Is there a way to disable the reg lock or set lock 2.0 as permanent default?

v.5.01 and the new v.6.0.1 anre extremely easy. Just compy the file to the root of your sd card and make sure the file name ends in rom.tgz (google chrome for instance will rename it when it downloads). Go into recovery mode, choose install, find smoked glass v5 or 6 and follow the on screen instructions. It will automatically backup your files before it installs.

FYI.... was on droid-life website and they have updated APK files that allow you to use HTC keyboard in landscape mode. Also, the slide out keyboard works and you can do speak to text. Very cool!!!!

No this keyboard does NOT work in landscape mode, nor will it work if you pull out the physical keyboard... Force closes all the time if you do that. I am working on getting one to work in landscape mode...

Just an FYI for the people that don't want to root just to get the HTC version of beaut widgets, go to droidforums(.)net and search for beautiful widgets skinning thread. in that you can download a zip files that just has all the images that you then install into the folder where beautiful widgets data is. real easy.
