Lol that message was a little messed up.. "...based on entirely different parameters than traditional and most modern jazz and pop and rock and music in general. The structure is an element of chaos. However..." - that was how it should have been.
I only hope that our students can at least make their way through the media blitz of popularity and the bullshit critic that called this crap music to carry this country through all of the hippie leftover which pollutes our youth. Be proud of your GAP and Abercrombie Hippies!!! you deserve it!
It was a nice expression, but just another example of failed music theory in my opinion. songwriting, a vision or some sort of structure is essential to entice a good eargasm.

@vegism If you listen a lot to Marc Ribot (as I do) you will definitely hear that he has a style that "has it's own theory" and his own sound, no matter how chaotic it is. This music is based on entirely different parameters than get the magic. However, I do understand why most people (my music-loving friends too) don't get the magic. Not because they're stupid, but because we're all different. Thank God for that. But I dare to say Ribot is very talented! (PS: I fucking love the tune you quoted)
I'm so glad I found this. There are so many jazz guitarists that have such awful tone (just my opinion), and I was looking for something I couldn't put my finger on. This guy sounds like he's got it.
Don't confuse unity (from the verb to unite) with blandness and predictability and unthinking rule following. Thus UNITY of PURPOSE is not the same as the BLANDNESS of RESULT. It has nothing to do with maths, but the laziness of listeners who demand easy digested and predictable homogenized product which corporations are only to pleased to provide. Go, Marc, go...
thanks for posting that! a very cohesive unit this quartet, really powerfull is, and so nice to hear ribot playing these singing lines of ghosts, and grimes playing again an ayler tune, but its unfortunately edited and too short and campbell's soloing missing!
In Mathematics, there are now studying chaos theory and also there is fractal geometry. Check both subjects title on internet and you will see fractal geometry reveal the unity, the beuaty. If you study the chaos theory you also see unit within the chaos. So although i might agree that this sounds like chaos but it seems they put their heart into it. So there is hidden unity in the chaos. We live in a chaotic world but we should search to discvoer the sound of unity on earth. good luck
so beautiful
