yummy. nutritious, better than my sportsdrink. but i think i'll stick to bottled stuff, i can't jog and hydrate with my coconut & straw at the same time
What he does not show you is that you have to cut the end away from the stem. The bottom end which hangs down is the end you cut. Otherwise you will have a fight on your hand like the average westerner.
If you imagine the ends that you cut and which hang from the tree as the north and south pole. Just taping around the tropics give you two lovely halves for all sorts of uses.
@xxiSquirtle Your asshole is a young coconut? What I'm saying is true, a young coconut has a lot of fluid and little flesh. It's used just for the coconut water and nothing else. :)
@BenjaminGoose in hawaii alot of people dont buy the husk one we jsut to lazy to husk it so we eat it unhusked XDD the young ones are good but not alot of meat so i like the mature one
@NizzleTM why do you assume there young? because theres white? thats wrong. there white because in order to ship them from hawaii to the mainland they have to soak them in formaldehyde.
@TheMRWOODIE They soak them in FORMALDEHYDE? The carcinogenic, toxic formaldehyde -- that you wear gloves so as not to get it on your skin when dissecting preserved dead animals in biology class? Why would they soak food in it? Suicidal or something? Honestly ...
@TheMRWOODIE Formaldehyde is only a danger when it's in it's pure form, they dilute it in water, and the formaldehyde is not able to penetrate into the "meat" of the coconut. because of laws in the US about quality control and health standards no fruit, vegetables, or meat may come into the us without certain treatments, for coconuts it's formaldehyde. I work for the USDA. i manage the quality control of shipments of fruit and vegetables into the US.
Thanks for your informative endorsement, Musulinaro. I wonder how many other people can say they evaluated coconut opening methods or even opened one let alone 36 of them in under 3 hours. Three thumbs up to you and Dean both.
Of all the methods I've seen, this one is the best one. I've just spent under 3 hours opening 36 young thai coconuts for a planned Hawaiian Valentines party using this method (only difference was I didn't hold the coconut in my hands - I just held it steady on my table). SUPERB! and not messy. Thank you Dean Ying
@anglianchannel What? Yeah easier to get a power tool and drill into the coconut. How would you eat the coconut flesh inside you fucking idiot. Don't comment. Just watchy, no writy. You stupid prick.
When I see Philipinos wacking at coconuts with a machete, especially when removing the outer husk of an old coconut, I'm amazed they aren't all missing fingers. But, none of them are.
formaldehyde? That's why it stays white??? It's just a fresh coconut, which can be found in any tropical country. The brown husky things are just old rubbish coconuts that the natives feed to their chickens because they're so old and rubbish.
The buko, or coconut, juice from inside is really a good source of life and very very healthy. Some people say that it consuming it can prevent cancers from growing etc. The tree itself can be used for a million things including water filtration.
Very nicely done. Who taught you ? How many cocos did you practice on before you became good at it ? How heavy is the cleaver--they come in different weights. Thanks very much.
@veranaika coconuts dont take that long to grow. What I meant was why do they look like they've been shaped. Brown cocnuts that are usually fuzzy are dried ones and the green are unrippened, yellow are ripe. And for everyone else coconuts dont look like that normally.
@veranaika u r both idiots........i'm a jamaican and brown coconuts r simply coconuts left until they r dry......green ones r called jellies.....and we dont call it milk we say water. you get milk by grating a coconut and squeezing it thru a strainer or simply blending it
This is THE best video I've seen about how to open a young thai coconut - every other video is kind of complicated, but you make it look so easy - except, I would put the coconut on a stable base rather than hold it as I'm using the cleaver! Thanks for posting this video!
