well different sports require different muscles. Men happen to have varied muscle concentration but most woman's muscle concentration in in the legs and hips. Because horseriding requires these muscles (hence why you actually develop MORE muscles in the thighs from riding) it's a sport that just happens to be more geared for women. Hence why most bodybuilders are men (but not all) and msot horseriders are women (but not all)

No. She is Meredith Beerbaum. One of the top riders in advanced showjumping. I believe she was in the "jump off" of her jumping course and was making a sharp turn to her next jump.

This is a awesome video. I can tell you have had a lot of experience. I've only been riding science I was 8 years old, so only 4 years. This is a great example of what it takes to be a rider. When I fall ant it's rather a bad fall i don't want to get back on the horse. I know it's better to get on now than later so i do what is best. It takes a lot of effort. ☆☆☆☆☆ This is an excellent vid. nice job. I hope you continue to follow your dreams and keep up the work!

Hey even though it may not a be what you meant I have to agree with you in most cases on how girls tend to be better riders. Granted this is just in MY experience, but I own a horse...a Morgan, and she does so much better with my sister, and my friends than any guy, lol I call here sexist, lol.

How about Ashley Holzer, Jill Henselwood, just to name a few. Men may sometimes be the top in jumping, but when it comes to true connection look at dressage. Im not saying men aren't good riders either. but seriously we are at the top also!
I think, since the horse has the ability to pick up the most subtle of cues, even when we are not intentionally sending them- it makes some women a bit better at the communication (or lack of) when it comes to asking a horses for something we need. We tend to maybe ask a little more gently. Horses listen, we don't have to scream!
jumpergirls, i totally agree with u. Yes, u have to be strong enough to do certain things, but doing it the ''hard way'' (with strength) wont work. With gentle touches, the horse WILL respond, at least in dressage.
It might take a little more in jumping since the stirrups are higher and the horse might not feel the leg as much. Again I wouldn't know since I do Dressage also. ._.
actually in jumping you can use your leg easier becuase the stirrups are higher. your leg is closer to their sides. it takes more muscle to get them on their hind quarters to go over the jump. but its mostly ab strength. i do eventing which is dressage and jumping. :P
she fell off and got knocked out and had to go to th hospital. i think she was ok. she got a nasty head bang from the horses neck and fell about 11 feet to the ground.
I agree with the concept of this video. Although I would never state that women are better than men at riding, I recognize the point of this video is simply empowerment. We live in an INCREDIBLY patriarchal society. Equestrian sports are, indeed, one of the few levels that women compete evenly on with men. It does not come down to which sex is better. It does, however, come down to the fact that women can finally compete equally against men and often win. in almost all other areas, they lose.
well watever ...jefrma is right: both girls and guys have the same strenght on the upper body, or lower body. it does depend on the health of course, but u cant never forget: COMUNICATION/RELATIONSHIP with the horse. If you dont have it ... then its waaaay harder

ok. i get where ur coming from. but, some people were trained a specific way. for example, if you are cleaning out your horse's hoof and he/she pulls it away, you can slap the horse's shoulder and say "no." <--- saying not yelling. Riding is the only thing women get credit in. I mean seriously we had to fight to vote, we had to fight to get higher jobs, we had to fight to get paid the same. In riding, we get the credit we deserve. Women are born fighters and not afraid to go after what we want. We'll bust our butts to get what we want. Riding is something women can truly excel in. That's about it.

yeah its rlly weird cos in pony club there are hardly any guys but most international events are man dominated although i think dressage is mainly a woman sport (no offence to any male dressagers out there) but u hardly ever see a female jockey...

Its cuz we are smaller, more graceful, and we understand our horses. We are compassionate and we work with our horse, we feel how they feel and become 1 with the animal while riding. Men are just not capable of that kind of connection with anything.. they are.. well. they are men! :-)
Interesting. I'm a man, and I feel a great connection with a horse when I ride. I feel one with it. I have more trust in a horse I am partner with than in a car that I am in full control of. I don't think that being male or female disqualifies one from feeling and showing compassion. Men tend to dominate--but that doesn't mean we all do. Women tend to show compassion--but some women are horribly cruel. Be careful what you assume.

i think some of the worlds greatest equestrian riders are mostly guys! They also do a little better then girls in jumping cuz they r a little stronger! So people dont say guys cant ride cuz they r great riders!!!!!!!!
Guys have the advantage of being stronger sure, but women have the advantage of being built to ride, our seat bones are wider. We have two young guys at our barn I hope they stick with it we need more guys riding English. So many ride western.

Are you spying on my brother and me, :)? We have this stupid conversation all the time! I will come back from lessons with really achy muscles, and them go to bed an hour earlier than on weeknights (I have lessons on Fridays), and he'll make fun of me! I told him to try it and he'll literally say "Why would I waste my time on such an easy sport?".
ya my brother thought the same thing. he came home from collage for christmas break and i told him before he left he had to ride my horse. he was all i am going to jump and go on the XC and canter and stuff...so he road my horse. i had to admit he was good but only at the walk when he started trotting my horse was pretty fresh ad was going fast and my brother almost fell off so i worked my horse down and my brother got on and did better. but he never said horse back riding was easy ever again :D

and if you don't believe me go look at the USEA championships. only 2 men won out of around 10 divisions.

gender has no impact on riding ability or passion for horses. it doesn't matter whether you're a man or a woman - both can be very connected with their horse and be successful in the equine industry.

WELL IF YOU REALLY WANT TO KNOW , why a large amount of them are men its is because THEY ARE IN IT FOR THE MONEY , granted some woman are in it for the money , they have more emotional connections with there horses instead of using them as props like some men do.

thats quite untrue.. i know alot of male riders and trainers and there not in it for money and they do have emotional connections with there horses and dont use them as props! there are quite a few male riders and trainers who have a great passion for horses...Monty roberts, pat parelli, yogi breisner, mark smith, and ian olding.

ur not sapposed to use muscle to train ur horse. as in ur not sapposed to bea them into submission. u can calmly train them without hurting them.

ok. i get where ur coming from. but, some people were trained a specific way. for example, if you are cleaning out your horse's hoof and he/she pulls it away, you can slap the horse's shoulder and say "no." <--- saying not yelling. You shouldn't be abusive when you punish your horse though. Just make sure you're constantly praising for the good, too. Check out my channel to look at my baby I'm training

Ha ha. Thats silly. How much money is in the horse industry? You do realize only a select few people really make a lot on horses, right? The horse business is like the car business. And, as a man, I think I take care and respect my horses just as well as any woman could.

Thats true! Women are on the lower levels, but the top levels , I would say men almost outnumber women. Little girls have their ponies, lol.

mmmm i think this sport is for both sexes. Yes, is true, us girls have the gentle touch and maybe have more conection w/ the horse due to our motherly sense, but i've seen PRETTY GOOD guys, like ... really good. (i think a girl looks better riding a horse than a guy)

Riding is the only thing women get credit in. I mean seriously we had to fight to vote, we had to fight to get higher jobs, we had to fight to get paid the same. In riding, we get the credit we deserve. Women are born fighters and not afraid to go after what we want. We'll bust our butts to get what we want. Riding is something women can truly excel in. That's about it.

Hey his vid is great i luv it and im a boy and im 11 but i think girls are better riders my 2 big sisters 15 17 are great riders they taught me althought theyve got an obssesion of dressing me in the same riding pink embarising and gave me the sme hair cut but they taught m everything ive won loads of great events because of them and i love them and my horse sam more than anyone in the world even thou they gave me a stupid nick name princess ther still the best. gr8 vid i luv it 5/5 5*u gogf lol

yeah its rlly weird cos in pony club there are hardly any guys but most international events are man dominated although i think dressage is mainly a woman sport (no offence to any male dressagers out there) but u hardly ever see a female jockey...

i no how hard it is to ride horses when there r problems and one of the horses i ride is so stubern i have to whip him and kick..... and then the other horse i ride spokes at anything but i stay on all the bucks and rears and bolts and thay r 15.5 to 16.3

Its cuz we are smaller, more graceful, and we understand our horses. We are compassionate and we work with our horse, we feel how they feel and become 1 with the animal while riding. Men are just not capable of that kind of connection with anything.. they are.. well. they are men! :-)

Interesting. I'm a man, and I feel a great connection with a horse when I ride. I feel one with it. I have more trust in a horse I am partner with than in a car that I am in full control of. I don't think that being male or female disqualifies one from feeling and showing compassion. Men tend to dominate--but that doesn't mean we all do. Women tend to show compassion--but some women are horribly cruel. Be careful what you assume.

i think some of the worlds greatest equestrian riders are mostly guys! They also do a little better then girls in jumping cuz they r a little stronger! So people dont say guys cant ride cuz they r great riders!!!!!!!!

Guys have the advantage of being stronger sure, but women have the advantage of being built to ride, our seat bones are wider. We have two young guys at our barn I hope they stick with it we need more guys riding English. So many ride western.

well i think people are intimated by horses we see them has gentle beautiful creatures. and they see them as large scary things! some people don't like horses cuz they seen friends get hurt or killed so they think all horses are like that. its just a lack of being around horses is the problem

Are you spying on my brother and me, :)? We have this stupid conversation all the time! I will come back from lessons with really achy muscles, and them go to bed an hour earlier than on weeknights (I have lessons on Fridays), and he'll make fun of me! I told him to try it and he'll literally say "Why would I waste my time on such an easy sport?".

ya my brother thought the same thing. he came home from collage for christmas break and i told him before he left he had to ride my horse. he was all i am going to jump and go on the XC and canter and stuff...so he road my horse. i had to admit he was good but only at the walk when he started trotting my horse was pretty fresh ad was going fast and my brother almost fell off so i worked my horse down and my brother got on and did better. but he never said horse back riding was easy ever again :D
