i'm trying to decide whether to use single stage or a base/clear.. the base/clear is much more expensive but i'd like to know if you can wet sand and buff a single stage paint? and ive heard it doesn't last as long as a base/clear paintjob. roughly how long will it last? any help will be appreciated!
@labreck67 Yes, you can wet sand and buff a single stage paint. If you keep the car in the garage it will last a long time with single stage. If the sun is always beating down on it, you might want to go with a base/clear. Also factor in if the car is worth it and how long do you plan on keeping it. Thanks
@pajaro514 Talk to your local paint supply store. They can tell you what paint to use that will fit in your budget. They are there to help out. I have used Standox, PPG, House of kolor, DuPont and a few others. It just depends on how much you want to spend.
@Ivzbel I believe that was in part 2. I used a red or gray scuff pad. It is way easier and faster with the same effect of sandpaper. You just need to give it a good scuff for the paint to bite into. Thanks
LOL I used to think that the paint would go right through the plastic when I was younger.
