  • If you could stop regenerating, it would of been very funny if he started to, then suddenly stopped and went "Naaaah"

  • if the master were a pokemon he would be the evolution of Sheldon Cooper

    thumbs up if you agree!!

  • I like the part where he dies

  • Wheres The Other Part When He Burns the Masters Dead Body?

  • Before I watched Classic!Who, I thought: Oh no, poor Doctor, why is the Master so damn spiteful?

After watching Classic!Who and rewatching this: "The Axons, remember the Axons? And the Daleks?"

Oh bitch you did NOT just bring up the ep where you screwed the Master over and left him to die(the first time)! Why not also remind him how you refused co-ruling the universe with him? So, now you come begging? In the Master's words: Tough!

  • I nearly died when The Master's wife shot him, because for about five seconds there, I was incredibly excited for the series to turn into "The Doctor and Master's Most Excellent Adventures Through Space and Time".

  • Does anyone know the name of the piano melody that starts playing when the Master refuses to regenerate???

  • Imagine the Doctor and the Master (as a good guy) working togheter :)...would have been so awsome

  • @zzkzion10009 soo*

  • And with this scene, thousand of slashfics were born. You know, I feel sorry for the Master, he wasn't so bad. I mean, it's not as if since his first appearance in the series he has tried to kill the Doctor, control the minds of others, try to take over the world, just recently caused mass genocide, has the catchphrase "You WILL obey me!", and looks upon the universe as his future kingdom and had the Drums in his head retconned into the new series to justify his cruelty and maliciousness.

  • "Will it stop Doctor? The drumming? Will it stop?"

Makes me cry everytime because the Master would most likely be exactly like the Doctor if looking into the Eye hadn't driven him insane...

  • I never knew a timelord could refuse to regenerate...

  • well, thanks. I'm crying now. T.T

  • 2:37 Poor Doctor, The others are just standing there doing nothing and not help him :(

  • master is back season seven

  • That's all this is to them, a big cosmic game of chess with lives and circumstance and planets and stars as the pieces. *sigh* Such is the trifle of gods.

  • They're both immortals, with intelligence and technology far beyond what most species can even comprehend, and they've battled each other across space and time. Weaponizing the entire planet was child's play to the Master and saving the lives of everyone just required the Doctor to hit a reset button. The Master may do it because he feels the drums of war, but he takes such pleasure just by beating the Doctor. The Doctor pleads the Master to stay alive, but his dying words are. "I win." (cont.)

  • This whole set up is rather amazing. The Doctor protects humanity, takes disciples by showing them the wonders while making them stronger people, and uses guile and scientific knowledge to beat his enemies. The Master thinks humanity is an amusing distraction or useful tool, subjugates servants by mesmerizing them with his presence, and uses deception and death traps to beat his enemies. (Continued below)

  • I never fail to tear up at this scene. The dynamic between The Doctor and The Master is greatly done, and to see The Doctor in that much agony at losing his childhood friend, even after all the times they tried to best one another, kinda breaks my heart a little.

  • i sneezed right at the end where he screamed....

im apparently allergic to time lords ;(

  • NO MY OTP IS MIA

  • I felt sorry for the Master when The Doctor screamed in his ear, Lol.

  • @RukiMoogle

lol I thought the same thing! ;)

  • 2:02 what the hell was that supposed to be?

  • God this is the saddest thing I've ever seen! THIS is why I didnt want david to leave. a sentimental doctor just fills me in a glass case of emotion!!!!!!! XO

  • I cried so much during this scene. I still do.

  • The thing that makes this scene so emotional is that the Doctor never SHOWS his grief or pain. the fact that he doesn't hold back cuts pretty deep. and the Master is purty awesome, so yanno ;)

  • Comment removed

  • There some definate slash undertones here... *squee*

  • i hade to get tishoos

  • i loved that scene

  • Gosh David acts so well in this scene ;)

    It makes me cry =(

  • @elmshadow18 I agree, and same. John and David are my heroes. :)

  • I loved the intimicy in this scene. The last of his kin, poor doctor. :'(

  • At the end when the doctor was cradling him and crying I felt like crying :'(. Poor doctor. Loses most of the peopel he cares about :(. "Will ir stop doctor? The drummng?" I got chocked but when the masters eyes went wide then closed D':

  • I find this sadder than Doomsday, to be perfectly honest.

  • "Will it stop doctor?" ....... :'(

  • Gd, this scene makes me tear up every time :')

  • I love this scene D:

  • Sent here via Voldy and Harry. . . If it weren't for them and mirandatam, I wouldn't be here right now, and I'm glad I saw this. . . I like the show now. . . I guess

  • bromance, just kidding.

  • 0:59 I will personally give all of my internets to whoever makes this into a reaction face.

Also this scene totally made me cry a little bit.

  • Wow...am I the only one who actually cried because the master died, not only because the doctor was crying? >.< Come on, people, there's gotta be some other master lovers out there!!!

(*cough cough* Well, actually, I'm more of a Master/Doctor lover myself...so as you can imagine, this whole scene (while being sad) was like a field-day for me...Rose leaves, Doctor doesn't shed one tear. Master dies, he wails and sobs. Canon, anyone?) XD

  • Susan is still alive doctor, she wasn't time locked!!!

  • Poor Doctor, He just loses EVERYONE!

  • I tear up at "I've been wandering for too long...now I've got someone to care for."

    The tears fall at "BANG."

  • So, why doesn't the Master like the Docor?

  • @whitewashedlife they where childhood friends

  • Is it wierd that I was sad during this scene?

  • @rosserm11 Lol no......ofcourse you'd be sad....i mean the Doctor loses so much :')

  • From 2:04-2:21 i was taping the Sound of Drums.

  • @amirizar2012 Same here, I feel so sorry for the Doctor...especially as The Master shows no sign of remorse or anything.

  • ...again

  • Tick tock, goes the clock,

he cradled him and rocked him.

    Tick tock, goes the clock,

and that's the end of John Simm.

  • Breaks my heart :( one of the saddest scenes in Doctor Who

  • i think the Master should retrun in 2012 with a cyberman army

  • @deathnoteman1 if the master returns, he won't be evil anymore, because I would presume the drumming would stop.

  • I always cry so hard when the Doctor does. This was so sad. :c

  • Saddest moment in Tennants run as the Doctor...

  • *master gets shot*

Me: HA TAKE THAT YOU LITTLE SHIT.

Doctor: *rocks master back and forth* *starts to cry*

Me: Oh come on... He got what he deserve-

    Doctor: *scream of agony*

Me: NO NO NO IM SORRY I DIDNT MEAN IT!! *starts to cry*

  • I feel like it's important to note that a lot of people think the Master let himself die because it's the only thing he can do to hurt the Doctor. And while the Master would be pissed at having to hang about with the doctor in his travels... he's the freaking Master! He's evaded death and capture countless times, he could easily go along with the Doctor until he let his guard down and then go free again. The main reason is to stop the drumming. To put an end to his own violent insanity.

  • If I ever get shot, I'm going to say "It's just a bullet, I can regenerate"

  • I loved how the actress who played the Master's wife handled the role. Her blank stare says it all about why she did it. 0:52

  • the sadness that it truly is to be the doctor...to always be alone to have these companions, but even then he is the last of his kind, a true time lord. it's always a depressing scene in the end of every season. he drops off which ever lady is with him and hes alone in the tardis, doomed to exist outside of true companionship. always looking in on all other forms of life.

  • When the doctor cries you know it's bad it breaks my heart when the doctor crys

  • Any time the Doctor cries it just breaks my heart.

  • Time Lord Physiology, two hearts and the ability not to bleed out from bullet wounds.

  • @TheTruemouse you're right, jenny never bled out...but was she really a time lord? i know she was created from progeneration....so her make-up was time lord...but was she really considered one? she had/has, im not even sure i should be since she's technically still alive, two hearts...im getting myself all confused over this one comment....damn....always doing that.....i think i should go now before i start babbling more....

  • @playlistsforbordem I know what you're meaning. Gallifreyan just means two hearts, shouldn't mean automatic regeneration. Regeneration was suppossed to be 'gifted' by Rasilon upon Galifreyans when they were made into time lords.

However, consider this. How is the regneration gifted? Could it be the Galifreyans DNA is altered? If so then the Doctor's DNA as it was sampled would have been sampled after it was altered. Jenny is a Time Lord. Uneducated, untrained, but still genetically a Time Lord.

  • @TheTruemouse O.o Thanks! that totally makes sense now!!! wow...you're like the only person on youtube i've talked to that hasnt responded with some kind of hateful, stupid comment... That totally helped me out!!! Thanks!!*feels like they just got smarter* :)

  • @playlistsforbordem there's also the fact that Gallifrey has burned . . . twice. No more establishment. Just the Doctor, and Jenny, the Bad-Wolf universe 10th Doctor and the porridge-people (Ganger) Doctor (Not counting the Tesalector, that's just an overglorified Doctor-suit) between those four I reckon what they say is or is not Time Lord kind of goes.

  • Did the music at the very end remind anyone else of Boulevard of Broken Dreams?

  • i think this is one of the saddest scenes in Doctor Who

  • Why does this remind me so much of when David did 'Hamlet'?

  • I would've liked to see the masters reaction if he was the doctors prisoner

  • ALL OF THE TEARS.

  • The Master: WINNING.

  • Last of the time lords once again :(

  • its weird hearing time lords talk about regeneration

  • A tear-jerking scene, then the Master goes and ruins it by saying "I win." Luls

  • 1:07 sexist master

  • Ok, anyone who is sad about the master dying: I have seen the master's first appearance. He was a horrible person bent on control. His last moments were the best in his lives. He made the Doctor feel the pain of being alone.

  • @eastwing329 Now the Doctor is all alone again.

  • @OhItsGinevra he is never alone. Not forever.

  • @eastwing329 I still think the Master should've regenerated because with each regeneration comes a new personality and with the Doctors help they could've become travelers together, the last time lords.

  • @OhItsGinevra no, the master has gone through different regenerations like the Doctor. Like the Doctor, he remains the same person at his core. The master is insane. He remains the same person he was when he was first introduced in the 1970's alongside the third doctor. He lives for conquest and control. There is a reason he calls himself: The MASTER. He wants to be called that by everyone. Maybe they could have traveled together but he would have been his prisoner.

  • @eastwing329 I'm not trying to fight :/ I understand and you're right but I can't help feeling sad despite all that's wrong with him.

  • @OhItsGinevra i get that. I do kind of pity him and the creatures he became.

  • @eastwing329 not sad for the master, sad for the doctor

  • @oXAlanahXo im sad for him too. He is tortured by the fact that he slew his entire race. He knows that what he did was right and it still hurts. I know that all wanted was a time lord to share the adventure with but I just can't get over the fact that it was the master or that people thought that if he regenerated he would be different. The truth is that like the Doctor he is the same man every time. I am sorry for the doctor though.

  • @eastwing329 its what makes it worse that he'll never change because he's crazy, I still had a bit of hope though that maybe the doctor could change him but if they really did travel together for a time then i dont think it would have happened for a multitude of reasons so again the doctor is alone :(

  • Why didn't he regenerate!? *cries*

  • @OhItsGinevra he is a raging psychopath who enjoys torturing his worst enemy.

  • I wonder if there were any Who fans who thought they would be sad when The Master dies... I don't think any of them would have seen it coming...

  • Omg this is so sad. I can't stop crying. They've been together for so long, and the Doctor didn't want to be the last time lord, he didn't want to be alone. :"(

  • @SpockLover27 Oh, buck up, it's not *that* sad. But it seems that England has all the good actors. Perhaps it has something to do with a culture that actually appreciates Shakespeare.

  • @CaptFitzbattleaxe It is that sad! They've been together since the start of the universe! And it's actually hinted that they might have even been brothers. And come on, the Doctor crying is really heart wrenching because he NEVER lets his sadness show. (In case anyone is wondering, CaptFitzbattleaxe is my real life brother. lol)

  • Anyone else here because of "The Sound of Drums' by Chameleon Circuit?

  • @wintermoons1215 Haha yes! That song is just amazing.

  • @wintermoons1215 "REGENERAAAAAAAAAAAATE!!!"

    Yup =D

  • @wintermoons1215 Yep :)

  • I wasn't sad at all when I first saw this scene, but after watching the rest of Ten's storyline, watching it again now is somehow even more tragic...I don't really know why. :/

  • "Oh come on, it's just a bullet. Regenerate!"

I wish regeneration was possible in real life. He makes it sound so simple. :I

  • The Masters real name is Koschei, if you dont believe me look it up......and the Rani is realy called Ushas......and theres a good chance the Doctor`s real name is Theta Sigma.......

  • @conorfitz999 there's also the strong chance that the Doctor is the exact genetic copy/reincarnation of the Other -- co-founder of Time Lord society.

  • @halfbreed1426 Yes, I think I read that somewere before......does it have anything to do with "looming"

  • @conorfitz999 The Looms were created by the Other to keep the Time Lord race form dying out (many of them had become steriel). Rassilon had betrayed the Other and planned to kill him and his granddaughter, Suzan -- one of the last natural borns. He threw himself into the Looms as an insult to his old friend and came back thousands of yeas later, not before keeping her safe. he then ran into her not long after he left, from her perspective. They knew eachother without remembering how and traveled

  • @conorfitz999 those arent their "true names" which i think is like a secret, no one knows their true names unless theyre their parents or really close, but thats what they were called back then :) then they all got their titles and no longer used them. Im not entirely sure im right but thats what i got from everything ive heard/read

  • The goodbye to Rose got me bawling, but this scene really hit home and much much further for some reason.

  • What's the music that starts playing at 1:28?

I really want to know, can anyone help me? Pretty please :)

  • @Garanta27 Its called "This is Gallifrey". ^_^

  • @Jypsom I don't think it is...

I'm talking about the piano bit. It's just beautiful <3

This is gallifrey starts at 2:23 I think.

God, Doctor Who has such wonderful music :D

  • Noooooooooooooo!

i wud just say 2 the master.....

OMFG JUST REGENERATE UR LIKE THE BEST TIMELORD!!!!!!!

That wud have been cool if he did and then he kept the same face and had companions like the dr!

  • was really sad but the show is just amazing thumbs up if u loved Doctor Who. It always has very good twists and makes the show always interesting to watch the writers are very good at their jobs and i hope they never end the show just keep it going

  • That was so sad... He should have just regenerated

  • John Simm acctually alive so DT just shouted right in his ear! At 2:39.

  • I have a theory of how the master can come back 2 dr who mite create a vid about it!

  • Love this version of This Is Gallifrey, very acoustic.

  • *sight* Even if he was a baddy, Master was still awesome, it's a shame he died. I wonder how Doctor even kept his mind with so many losses!

  • Hey, if they bring the Master back and have him regenerate, who should play him?

  • @aquagrl63 Benedict Cumberbatch. But maybe he wants to be the Doctor post- Matt.

  • @welshdevondragon He's my choice too. But that's mostly because I can't think of anyone else.

  • This scene makes me want to read Master/10th Doctor fanfiction all of a sudden.

  • poor dude..those danm writers...

  • So slash. :'(

  • Im fucked off on what they did to Dr Who, all this who is River song? What about the whole point, traveling to different worlds with his companions, what about memories? Yuo never mention Rose anymore? Nor Martha? What has moffat done?

  • @BowtieFezStetson That was pretty much covered in School Reunion and Death of the Doctor. He doesn't look back. If he did, he'd spend centuries watching everyone he cared about die. Besides, he rarely mentioned previous companions in the original series. 9 didn't, either. It wasn't until he saw Sarah Jane again that he started thinking about the past, and look what a wreck that made him by the time of the specials.

I wouldn't mind if I never saw River Song again, though.

  • @BlackMonk66 dude, we r on series 6 and i think that more or less every1 who isa dwfan wants 2 noe who river song is (including me) and eleven did go back to sarah jane in the doctors death in the sarah jane adventures.

  • @BowtieFezStetson The companions were once not given anywhere near the focus they are now. The Doctor is the star of the show. Since he can be played by essentially any British actor no one is expendable in Doctor Who. Rose being a total Canon Mary Sue changed this and it wasn't for the better. Seriously, the Doctor has a granddaughter named Susan Foreman but she never gets any more than a passing reference anymore.

  • OUCH!!! I think it would hurt if anyone says they would rather die than be around you, even a stranger, and obviously the Mater and the Doctor are closer than that

  • I cried so much when this happened. That was the last evil thing the Master did, letting himself die and leaving the Doctor all alone.

  • What`s the song that start at 2:24 ?? Please somebody tell

  • @Rammaell In case you haven't found it the song is called This Is Gallifrey. Hope you like it as much as me

  • the doctor is a good man, like jesus

  • I think the words ' Oh I could bury you alive, but you might crawl out with a knife ' fits very well at this moment.

  • He'll come back. He'll probably regenerate but he'll come back. We never actually saw him die.

  • I loved that 'oh...oh SHIT' look on The Master's face when he said "you mean you're just gonna...keep me."

You can tell right there he's starting to really panic.

  • Oh god, the video stopped buffering RIGHT. WHEN. The gun went off. I've seen this a million times, but MAN. XDD

  • @neofeliss ahh i hate when that happens! it completely ruins the mood xDD

  • @c1ickh3r3

    I KNOW, right?? XD

  • god dammit i cry every time

  • If you remember in The Sea Devils, The Doctor mentions that he and The Master were once very good friends before The Master betrayed him. Although on the outside they were enemies as in The Doctor was the good Timelord and The Master was the evil Timelord, they still had a mutual respect for each other and The Doctor in a way still cared about him and felt sorry for him.

  • @yethboth Yeah...like in The End of Time, when they finally come face to face and the Master blasts him with that energy. When The Doctor falls down, The Master actually runs over to him and prevents him from falling to the ground, then he just looks at him and let's him fall. It's like there is a part of him that still cares about The Doctor. It's an interesting concept for a villain.

  • I swear the writers get off on torturing Ten.

  • @hothotheat3000 yeah =/ i think its cuz he ated so well and it made the emotional parts really brilliant

  • @hothotheat3000 They get off on torturing EVERY Doctor. Do you know how many times the guy's been tied up? I mean, I'm actually starting to suspect that this show is secretly BDSM porn. But, yeah, Ten seemed to spend about every other episode crying.

  • @hothotheat3000 So do I! Heh heh.

  • @hothotheat3000 Well now it's killing Rory/Matt

  • @aprilgirl96 I recommend that you watch these two before the revival of Doctor Who. Right from when the Master first appears in Terror of the Autons you can tell these two are very close. The Master is a terrible person but can be incredibly kind to the Doctor; he saved him from heart failure and was willing to go into the Death Zone on Gallifrey to help rescue him. When he died in Planet of Fire the Doctor was devastated, so the Doctor crying in this isn't just because he's alone again.

  • The doctor isn't actually crying about the Master dying, because let's face it, he was a terrible person. The Doctor is crying because once again he is alone, once again he must be forsaken to be the last of his kind

  • Jesus Christ even I cried

  • What is the name of the music playing when the Master dies? (Not our childhood home the other one)

  • I don't buy it. The Master fought too long and too hard to survive outliving his last regeneration to let himself die just to spite the Doctor. He'll be back.

  • Always the women.

  • @gannondorf14 THE MASTER NEVER DIES!!! Not that I'm complaing... he's such a great character ;)

  • Just to get back to the point here...wtf happened to the rest of the scene???

  • @mrchrisdavis09 Time Lord is a position, like police officer or soldier. Their species is actually called Gallifreyans. They go through Time Lord Academy on Gallifrey to become a Time Lord. Their final test is to look into the Untempered Schism, which gave the Master the drums in his head.

  • @catgirl10426 The Schism didn't add in the drums. That was the work of Rassilon.

  • @catgirl10426 Actually, looking into the Schism was initiation into the Academy, NOT the final test. As the Doctor said in 'The Sound of Drums', Gallifreyan children were 8 when they were initiated as Novices.

  • @catgirl10426

    really? wow thats interesting...

    How do you know?

Was it mentioned in the original series?

  • I wouldn't have mind if these two travelled together like the doctor had first planned

  • @saga111luna the master is a raging psycho with delusions of conquest. He is a monster.

  • @saga111luna It would hav been interestin like a buddy cop kinda ting probly.

  • 0:28 suggests that "Time Lord" is a rank or office rather than a species. It suggests that the Master was stripped of the title, or that the Doctor has decided that he should be.

  • when he comes back he's even more crazy and epic XD
