To add to my previous post, as mention in the video, the 700 series shown in the video have "flat" areas on the shin guard and the knee-cap. The new model I purchased now has a more rounded surface on the knee and the shin, so it will deflect stick/puck assaults more readily. I have wide calves also and as it's a wider shin-guard, fits me better than a narrow Bauer. I found the straps long enough to seat the guard properly. I use hockey tape to strap them down and keep them in place.
I just bought a new pair of the GRAF 700 shin-guards this past Friday and used them yesterday (Sunday) in a full contact game. The first thing I noticed about the guards is that they dumped the fabric shell-covering and now the pads are plain white plastic like the knee-cap. The fit is outstanding and the pads are very light. Once warmed up, they molded my shin/knee. These require no break in time. The best pads I've ever owned and I've been playing for over 25 years. Bauer pads suck!
The choice you make depends a lot on what position you are playing, your size, body shape, height, personal preference, etc. It's hard to just say "get this shin guard" because everyone requires and wants something different.
once my nike bauer supreme shin guards break i'll have to check em out but the part about the shin guard material slicing easily scares me a little, but i'll give them a look, thanks
