  • what were some draw back to the Ev1

  • @ericlol99 The bigest drawback from my POV was that they were never for sale and you could not own one. Aside from that they were perfectly capable and fun vehicles.

  • Nissan Leaf is picking up were GM left off. Go Nissan, Go Nissan, GO....

  • Honda does have have ev's they just use gas because government doesn't want to lose tax money. Like All electric cars they are only test models when there are califronia only. Look at the Honda's fuel cell vehicals the same BS and make the driver pay outragus Fee to be Test Pigs.

  • Actually it's simply governed at 70mph. An un-governed EV1 set a Land Speed Record of 186 mph at GM proving ground.

  • LOL, GM pulled the trigger themselves. "thats not how you hold a gun", ah whatever.

  • GM could have been an innovator but now they are losers because of what they did..crushing those cars..nobody wants SUVS anymore,at least I don't

  • What a damn shame! With the price of gas so high, this car would've benefited the country so much. If there were 1 million or more of these EV's on the road today-the price of gas might be at half of what it is today!!

  • i wish honda made the ev1

and they sell it instead of bs gm pulled

i want an electric car, with turbo

  • wouldnt that suck ?

  • honda did jump on the me too train. their electric was a turd compared to the e v 1. g m was ahead of the game but allowed greed to do them in.they whored themselves for big oil. now they are 2 dollar crack whores.

  • What year was this???

  • There were two model years of this car I believe, the Gen1 in 1997 and the Gen2 in 2000. I drove one and shot this video in 2002.

  • excelente video!!!!

how many milles you were able to ride before the batery go off??

  • they were supposed to go up to 60 miles in one charge i think.

we watched the *who killed the electric car?* video in my ecology class....

  • As I recall I believe that I got somewhere in the neighborhood of 90 to 100 miles of range out of this PbA (Lead Acid) EV1. We did mostly surface street driving that day.

  • It got up to 60 mph no problem! Very sweet!

  • Ya, and 0-40 mph it was quicker than a Mustang.

  • I sent GM an e mail about 6 months ago. I said I would never buy another GM again, and Ive had GM's for 20 years. Because, they scrapped the EV1 program. The sales they dont have now they would have had if they had continued production of the EV1.

  • Yup, but look how much bailout money uncle georgie gave them!

  • so fast! like a normal car

  • Awesome car. Fuck GM for destroying them. I would have loved it we could have got these in Australia.

  • how long did it take to produce a full charge? just curious...

  • 4 hours

  • You guys are lucky; we dont have these in the UK

  • we don't have them anymore. General Motors ordered the destruction of all of the production EV1s. They were only around for 10 or so years.

  • actually m8, they were around from about 1996-to 1999 or something. The entire division ended in 2001

  • Sweet, Looks like you had fun with it. I want one.

  • did that max out at 60 on the interstate

  • No it didn't max out at 60 mph, the production EV1 was governed at 80 mph, which it had no trouble reaching and maintaining (darn governor anyway...) An earlier modified EV1 prototype set a land speed record for production electric vehicles at 183 mph (295 km/h) in 1994.
