  • I have a boreder collie. They are wonderful dogs. She gets enough excercise every day, and loves all of us. But I am just wondering if we should get her into agility. Also, she is a year and a half old, and I know we can still train her for some things, can we still train her for agility? Are there any suggestions?

  • The dog is just pissed cause your not giving him signals soon enough, he doesn't know where to go, mine got so pissed she grabbed the bottom of my shorts once and ripped them! luckily I was wearing a belt.

  • my dog never barks when he does agility. He's silent and perfect LOL!

  • @bellaxedward132 its nto a bad thing when they bark , alot of dogs bark when they are really readdy to go some also bark whe nthere gettign pissed it depends on your dog tho

  • @KIRST4290 ya he's just not very loud. he kinda gets focused and doesn't notice anything except me and the course :P

  • Weeeeeeeeeeeve!!!

  • The reason that one bar got knocked was from her calling the dog over the jump. The one time the dog took the wrong jump it was being naughty and flicking away.

  • Yeh super, peut-être qu'il y a une faute dans le slalom mais c'est très bien quand même

  • ouais. Je crois qu'il y a une faute dans le slalom...

  • nice run and its called an agility trial =P

  • damn!

  • i am trying to teach my dog to do that stuff but all he will do is sniff the ground, yes its a border collie mixed with a springer spaniel. he can run fast and jump high and i can keep up with him (well not run as fast but still). any advice?

  • get him motivated maybe use a treat or his favorite toy and start off slow an agility champion doesn't just happen over night it will take time effort and a lot of patience

  • @supermaki369 use his favorite toy or treat during training also play focus games with him.

  • it wasn't the dog's fault for the mistakes. the trainer couldn't keep up with the dog. She needs to work on her agility. no offense, but i'm stating it as i see it.

  • her dog got abit over excited :)

  • nice run

  • Great dog! Nice start line stay.

  • gotta agree with stacey there...wayy too poofy poor thing gets showed... not what they were BRED to do..but then again at least this is one of the few that gets to enjoy part of what he was meant for... its sad

  • DAMN THAT DOGS FAST!!!!!!!

  • wow i do agility and they need way more training trust me i have done agility for 9 years and i am still a jr. hanlder and i could beat them

  • You have to remember...conformation Border Collies are bred for nothing but appearance. They don't have much in the way of brains. Think hollywood and Paris Hilton and all the stupids that reside in Hollywood, That's the conformation border collie.

  • well ya but why do agaility and compete without evough training?

  • For fun? I don't know. Make a laughing stock of themselves? maybe they thought there dog was ready, but clearly not. But I definitely agree, the working border collies have what it takes, show border collies remind me of a tuxedo version of a golden retriever (nothing against goldens.)

  • I don't think it's that he hasn't had enough training. He looks like he's quite nicely trained, just the handler doesn't quite know what she's doing. That off course could have been avoided by the handler, there's a reason they do walk-throughs for the course. To look at angles that the dog will take a jump and to see potential off courses.

  • ya , the suggested way to talk it is first walk it like the dog , 2. walk it like the dog at the prblem spots , 3. go to problem spots as the handler , 4. walk it normally

  • The dog isn't so much as DUMB just because he is a conformation bred dog, nor do I think he lacks enough training. If anything, he's doing surprisingly well for said conformation dog. You also gotta remember that there are a lot of good lines out there in Border Collies where they have some conformation bred dogs into the lines. Oh, aren't you from washington too????

  • Yes I am. I think he's had good training. Just needs a better handler. And the whole "Dumb" thing, is if you take a working border collie and compare it with a show border collie, the working is by far smarter; unless you get the working/show/obedience/agility lines all mixed into one...those are pretty nice, that's a little bit of what my dog is. She has conformation champions, obedience, agility, and herding titles scattered through her pedigree. Her dad had all 4

  • That's what I was referring too, the lines of agility/herding/conformation/obedience being all mixed. Nice. You are from the Seattle area right?

  • Yes I am. Are you in washington or seattle area?

  • Im in San Diego, BUT I am spending the summer there =P In Puyallup with my man. Demon's gonna be with me too! And we're looking for a new puppy! Maybe from one of teh North West's stock dogs or Astra sheepdogs. =P So You should HELP me out and recommend some grrreat local herdingbreeders!

  • Conformation border collie doing agility. Quite amusing. I prefer working border collies instead. He's doing ok for a show dog.

  • He would probably do a lot better with a better handler. That off-course could have been avoided. She just kind of crunched her body up...i dont even know what that was do you? and then she just kept her forward motion when the dog was headed for an off-course...WRONG!
