Royksopp? (Forgive my UK keyboard) Robyn? Two of the greatest artists and groups currently making music. Why Robyn isn't as big as Katy Perry or Taylor Swift is beyond me. The woman's been knocking them out of the park since 1997.
@danno700 - I absolutely Agree! Being a DJ for 15 years, I can see the problem, Robyn's tunes don't have the same throwaway appeal that has the mill churning out songs for a few weeks of living in the charts.. Royksopp are the same - of course some slip through the net, but robyn's songs have longevity, Sh'es been on the go since mid 90's, and still going strong. Taylor swift, Katy perry, even Lady Gaga wont last that long. I absolutely love this tune.
i hardly comment on youtube video but this song is just so beautiful, very catchy from the beginning yet so sad. i love how the lyrics are real and truthful.
Hey... Everyone hating on America... Fuck off! There would be no electro without America. Actually... come to think of it, beside 'Classical Music' (which I think is amazing, btw) America and the UK sorta set the stage for musical revolutions and advancements throughout the world.
While I think American-electro as a whole, in addition to some other genres, has been eclipsed by other nation's progress, why must so many people hate? Don't bring politics into this discussion -- it's not warranted
finally some one who doesn't speak out of their ass on here, thank you for your comment. Hopefully you've furthered the enlightenment of these genius non-North Americans
@Loweysd - America hasn't had much do with electro but in past few years has been impressive, UK and German music in the 80's is where it's at, Gary Numan, Kraftwerk, Human League, New Order - All pioneers of electro music and all European - I'm not dissing America, America without doubt has had a massive influence in rock music of the world, and no doubt is the original home of hip hop and rap, and Detroit in the 90's had a Techno scene which was hard to equal - even in Europe.
And yet in the UK they take reason (music program) classes in high school while american producers learn on there own so any american dubstep artist electro artist has my respect for their dedication to learn it and make it without help so fuck off america isnt just about hip hop and rap so take your own advice and piss off
Blergh -_- I listen to everything,I know many europeans and they listening to aLOT of american music as well as many americans listen to european music *unconciesly* to me DnB is the best type of electronic music there is and it is highly made in america and in europe. Why do most Americans And Russians hate each other so much? BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO MUCH DAMN PRIDE OF THEIR COUNTRY. Just my opinion really . All that I know is that the woman in the video had sex with a robot O.O xD!!!!
I think the video is hinting at artificial insemination and has Electric Barbarella all over it. In our quest for the perfect technology we are creating a wold where the individual doesn't matter as much as long as perform our assigned function in society.
I think the lyrics are about a woman in love with a workaholic. Alot of Royksopp's lyrics seem to center on nostalgia for a simpler, calmer, button free, less mechanical time. ( funny 'cuz they play super sweet ass electronica)
@syd32vicious I wouldn't go so far as to say "nostalgia for a simpler, calmer, button-free, less mechanical time". But I would say a great deal of their songs convey and discuss the idea of longing and hope... and many of them simultaneously lament and praise the beauty of memory.
For example: contrast "Poor Leno" versus "Only this Moment"; the video for "Eple" versus the video for "Happy Up Here"; or even "49 Percent" versus this song.
I actually had higher expectations for this video... I was under the impression that Robyn was "Metaphorically" in love with a robot. IE a boring husband... But I guess i was wrong... Its an actual robot! lol. Oh well, I love this song anyway.
I love this song and I love the way they tell the story of a the human girl (aka: Robyn) obsession and love of her robot. who knows, when time goes by and robots become part of our daily lives some people will fall in love with their robots, with or without skin XD anyways I love it!
america is too involved with itself to look at european music. i have friends there and european dance, drum and bass, dubstep, electro etc is so small...they are missing out big time with their chris brown, lady gaga, beyonce.
lol american music is ruining everything, hip-hop/rap used to have a meaning and used to be about life's problems and how people pushed through those problems to succeed. Now its all about clubs, having "swagga", sex, and "making it rain". And the end this, autotune has made it easy for anyone to make millions of dollars because so many people of the new generation don't know what real music is.......PZ
@Descansan exactly, it's a shame that it's going that way but proper music is still around, it's just harder to find. Zane Lowe on Radio 1, UK station, is brilliant for playing top, new music.
that's why I listen to Indie music! XD XD I've found many awesome bands that are struggling because the mian-stream is to powerful and mind bending for them to make it up, a few that I listen to are managing it like silversun pickups and Interpol, but the rest are still struggiling to make it (that's why I love them because they always have unique sounds and aren't afraid to be different! XD)
I hate when people generalize! Saying "American" music is ruining everything, is a pretty broad statement. Now, if you were to say that American Hip Hop/Rap is fucking ridiculously horrible, then I would agree wholeheartedly. I don't care for that genre of music enough to be concerned with the fact that it doesn't mean anything anymore. And yes, the new generation has no idea what good music is, but its not their fault.
@Descansan Agreed. America's music sucks to the point where I only listen to international. Well, mostly international. I keep looking and SOMETIMES find a good group... maybe.
@Deanocfc lady gaga is actually helping push european styles into the american mainstream, as her music is much more influenced by european electro and dance than any american hip hop. but americans DO need to listen to more european original music
@Deanocfc Thats true the euro-dance/electronica scene isn't big in the US yet but don't group all americans into "too involved with itself" Ive been listening to this kind of music for quite awhile now and LOVE IT!! At 1:58 Robyn sounds like Kate Bush. I've heard that Robyn is a fan of Kate's so maybe it's no coincidence. Great song & thanks for uploading.

this is my favourite song right now! I love it and the robyn's voice sounds like the madonna's voice in all the 'confessions on a dancefloor' album...

what an amazing song. I never get tired of listening to it. Royksopp continues to impress me.
Love Robyn's dress. also love when the robot starts "doing the robot" around 2:20. hilarious.

I really like the song, I would have preferred a different singer and the video is a little dumb, but still a cool song. I like these people.

Robyn is HOT. The song is incredible, so the video is a bit lackluster in comparison. I expected something better I guess.
