The reason the SLS and the SLR perform about the same yet the SLS is less than half price is mostly simply due to the TRANSMISSION being behind the driver creating a 53:47 weight distribution unlike the SLR's 51:49. So, it makes braking, accelerating, and steering easier relieving MB from spending a lot of time on the aerodynamics and on forced induction. That's why the SLR looks so 'busy' and shorter.

So this is basicly a mercedes viper using the new chassis and platform dodge built until chrysler killed vipers production so now benz are using it with a v8 packed with luxury... they had a concept of building the sls a while ago using the actual viper with sls front end....

I'v just received the options brochure for mine so here are a few things from there:

Car as standard: £157,000

Forged Wheels: £1500 Carbon Fibre Package: Near enough £10k for the lot

B&O Stereo: £6500

Carbon Ceramic Brakes: £8000

The list goes on and on your looking at around at least £180k once its specced up, im sure its an unbelievable car but would i pick it over a 458? I doubt it. And anyway for those who say the R8 is dead, the R8 is a VAST amount cheaper for similar performance
