IT1 sorry but this is the USN Ceremonial Guard not, the honor Guard of Naval District Washington. This is a billet, not a TDY/TAD on Naval Anacostia Station. If you was stationed there sir, you would not be performing flag folds or carrying a casket. You would be staff. Understood. Where ever you are you are TDY or you are assisting these guys in the neighboring cities because, these individuals practice and do this as a Guardsmen/women. because they are straight out of Bootcamp. No A School Yet
Let me correct some people on here. You do not need to be selected at boot camp. I just got selected to do Funeral Honors here in Navy District Washington and I am an IT1 and I've been in for a long, long time. Yes this was practice. The casket would not be on the ground.
@TroyVFuchs Hello IT1, the USN Ceremonial Guard is a unit stationed at the Anacostia Annex. Guardsmen are recruited from Basic Training and serve 2 years there before going to their A school. Officers and PO's go there as staff only and do not carry caskets or fire gun salutes.
I am air force guard, it looks different. Kinda wierd but oh well. Im pertty sure they would say the same about ours. But the only thing i have to say is they will get better. as u can see its pillow like. its suppose to be tight. But not bad. it did turn out to be a 1 3 5. Would be a perfect fould if it wasnt pillow like.
this fold is no longer done. no flare no slaps all quite. no loner will the " full honors" fold be preformed. currently the standard honors fold is preformed on all funerals in arlington. but soon even that will change. the flare of the honor guard is being lost.
That's some pretty cool stuff man. I always love watching how the other services do their ceremonies. Your 6-man definitely has a lot more to it than ours does over of the AF side of the house.
Thank you so much for this. My mother, LT JG, was inurned at Arlington National Cemetery yesterday. The flag was presented to me. I am crying like a baby...so glad I found a video of this!
