  • Who needs drugs, when you're Frank Zappa.

  • CENTERVILLE! A REAL NICE PLACE TO RAAAAISE YOUR KIDS UUUUP!

  • zappa was the man, man.

  • This is the real you, Jeff! Rip off a few more ashtrays, get ridda some of that inner tension! Quit the comedy group! Get yer own group together!

  • The very first motion picture shot on video rather than film! Zappa is a groundbreaker in all mediums.

  • @MrGreen428 Weird thing is, that it carried the sixties into the new decade and kept that sound going for a bit. And it was ahead of the eighties cos of the videotape.

  • WHAT CAN I SAY ABOUT THIS ELIXIR????

  • wow only time i've seen anything like this...i was on acid

  • @metalrock90 Opal you hot little bitch

  • Just so people know, 200 Motels was finally released on DVD back in February 2010 by Tony Palmer. I've been in contact with Tony and he's such a nice guy. the picture looks alright but the sound is another thing. There are no special features except commentary, I think. The movie is also in widescreen although the movie was filmed in full screen. Still, it's a legal version of the movie on DVD. Worth owning if you're a die-hard Zappa fan.

  • Supposedly Netflix will have this in stock May 4th.

  • Good news everyone, this is finally out on DVD!!!!!!!!

  • What's the use of making a normal film anyway?

    For the freaks only

    very good

  • watchin the whole movie in one piece is really kind of exhausting buts afterwards its definitly worth it :D

  • it really is, its mentally exhausting, but its so good!

  • haven't seen this film in forever

  • roger ebert gave this movie 3 stars

  • Fuu Kinn Aaaa..been a fan for 40 years, yet nver seen this compilation...ThanKS!!!!

  • I remember seeing this move sometime in the 70's stoned off my ass at this place on Long Island called The Mini Cinema. Seeing this clip brings back all those hippie day memories..

  • I saw this at a drive in in the late 70s but, was so f*cked up I didn't remember hardly any of it.......wish i could see it agian

  • Try getting it on dvd, I got it two years ago :D awesome :D:D:D:D

  • "Far sentire Zappa ad un uomo è come far vedere la figa ad un bambino: vede un pertugio tutto peloso, umido, viscoso, e si domanda perchè noi grandicelli la veneriamo... Ecco, Zappa è la stessa cosa"

    didoleibniz91

  • They don't make em' like this anymore

  • MY SECOND FAVORITE MOVIE.

it's VERY odd, as It has nearly NO storyline, but is great.

AS you may have guessed, THIS is the end of the comment. LORD HAVE MERCY ON THE FATE OF THIS COMMENT.

  • Do not worry.

Your comment went on to live a beautiful and wholesome life.

This comment, however, died in the gutter at the age of 27.

    So sad.

  • Frank was a walking trip, he didn't need drugs.

  • haha don preston!

  • i always wanted to see this movie and about 10 years ago i finally got to see it .one of my friends told me he had it and to come over well i went over and he had the movie but he said the only way we were going to watch it was... the fucker pulled out a bag of shrooms well all i have to say about the movie is......... fantastic , pure fucking joy.

  • lol this is a lie

  • I'm still waiting, I got to buy it asap...

  • Who the fuck needs drugs to enjoy a movie? That's the stupidest excuse I ever heard.

  • Hey, rasdaniel1977, one of main themes of frank zappa's music and productions was that he was doing creative, unique and ground-breaking stuff on sober thought, he was totally agianst drug induced music. Watching this on shrooms to further enjoy the movie is like slapping Frank Zappa across the face. For shame.

  • I agree... that was *the* biggest point of arguments between FZ and the rest of the Mothers. His entire life, Frank could *never* comprehend the point of drugs, saying they just gave people an excuse to act like an asshole.

  • @NyeTunes So true.

  • lol

  • is it just me or does it say motorhead at 2:02. RIP Jimmmy Carl Black:(

  • @IHATEKandG

"Motorhead" was Jim Sherwood's nickname. Sherwood played baritone sax with the original Mothers Of Invention and had a part in this movie. They called him "Motorhead" because he was always working on cars.

The metal band by that name didn't exist yet, but "Lemmy" was a roadie with the Syd Barrett era Pink Floyd.

  • 200 Motels is going to be on cable television this Saturday morning Oct 25 on Turner Classic Movie Channel.

It will show @ 1:30 am Mountain time. Have no idea what time in other zones.

I cannot quite believe they will be showing it. Not exactly "Mainstream" or "Commercial"

At least it should be shown uncut. And without commercials!

  • Thanks!

  • haha! Ringo Starr. Soooo funny

  • ... well from what I understand he didn't take drugs... all he did was smoke cigarettes.

I think I'd end up enjoying this movie either way (if I could find the damn thing)

  • Drugs are a handicap for creativity not a necessity. Your a dick.

  • "if he didn't take drugs then how could he see all those things in his mind"

    what a dummy

  • @JAMES6FRANK I might agree to a point.Even some of his later stuff, when I smoked weed and got high with some torrent powerful shit and listened to his rock, and some 12 tone,i got the feeling, alot of his themes and musical ideals and short themes, it all fit like a puzzle thru my mind expansion and felt very satisfying. The guy must have experienced it to understand what I felt.because when I listened to Floyd or zepplin or whatever,it was not the same.

  • @JAMES6FRANK the guy was a genius psychodelic composer as well

  • @fadethetrade Psychedelic.... dumbass

  • @JAMES6FRANK He was quoting the population.

  • @JAMES6FRANK You don't need drugs to be creative

  • @JAMES6FRANK

That's a sour grapes approach to anyone whose imagination outshines yours.

  • Zappa didn't do drugs dude.

  • sure, dude, sure

    neither have i, 100% str8 edge!

  • Yea people have a hard time believing that zappa was straight. But he was. He never did drugs in fact he was totally against it

  • @Ihavearubbersoulforu I hate how so many of his "fans" insist on using drugs when listening to his music.

  • yes he did,he smoked, and nicotine is an addictive drug

  • @blade0954 He never did any drug drugs though

  • ooooh ooohh oooh..do you like my new car ?the one and only time we saw this we was stoned. Made perfect sense.

  • Jeff has gone out there on that stuff!

  • WHAAAAAT CAN I SAY ABOUT THIS ELIXIR!!

  • I watched 200 Motels twice.

The first time I fell asleep.

The second we dropped acid and it was the funniest thing I have ever seen. Couldn't stop laughing.

So, if Zappa didn't take drugs . . . he certainly knew how to entertain those of us who did.

  • TRUE THAT my friend

  • How many hits did you take?

  • too goddamn many in my case hee hee...

  • All the other mothers were into drugs and used to think frank was a sqquare, cigarettes and coffee were his only vice and he refered to them as food.

  • Even as a long-time Zappa fan, it still amazes me to this day that he was not a drug user. How anyone could watch this film and not think that there was some LSD influence is beyond me.

  • Right you are, TheGreaterGood80!

  • Where are you now Frank?

Awesome film with or without your chemical addative of preference

  • Ey! that´s me in the bathroom!

    WHERE ARE YOU FRANK!!!?????

    that´s the only inteligent cuestion!

  • "What can I say about this elixir?"

  • Anyone who can't handle this movie on acid doesn't know how to enjoy this movie. This movie changed my life on acid. It's how I became Rants Mohammets. I know that's an incorrect spelling now, but I didn't when I wrote it all over my basement room just moments after watching that movie.

  • I first saw this movie straight and came out of it feeling like I had been tripping. Then, I saw it tripping and I came out of it feeling like I was straight. Go figure.

  • Me and some friends tried to watch this after taking a couple hits of blotter. I rember very little of it except that whole thing creeped me out and we all agreed to turn it off. LSD, nitrosoxide & this movie are a bad combo...

  • duck

  • awesome movie really

  • uuuhm, I get so excited when...

  • that duck smiling at the very end creeped the shit out of me.

  • frank's films don't need acid to make them awesome

    watch it on pot mang

  • exactly dude msg and the like ,that`s how the illuminati keep us locked within the 5 senses...food additives

  • you do, of course realize that you would be dishonoring Frank in the biggest way that you could by doing that...

  • just because drugs weren`t frank`s thing, doesn`t mean the rest of can`t indulge, besides nicotine and caffeine are both drugs

  • Not to mention all the steroids and shit in our food...

  • @shorrosh He's one of the reasons that I quit doing drugs...along with many others. He's a very positive influence in that aspect! Frank is the man!

  • Where can I buy it?

  • ^ Wat he said

  • Watch it on ACID!

  • @jamiekush I think it would permanently screw a person up.

  • @jocovo84 Yup! And I'm the living proof. Banana banana. Loganberry.

  • I so wanna see this movie.

  • Mark Volman in women's lingerie is a most terrible sight that will forever be scarred into my retina, but he fills out a bra nicely for a dude.

  • Ringo looks so fucking strange, man.

  • A truly bizzare film and completely off the wall, but, that's Zappa for ya..
