I am interested, since up until my retirement--well within your 14 year career--there were no Air Force interrogators; at least not for hostile intelligence Interrogation. If we witnessed Al Queda or some other supposed enemy torturing American servicemen or civillians, we would be enraged enough to mount an all out attack against the perpetrators, and THAT is why torture NEVER works. Plus, the information obtained through torture is rarely reliable. People will confess to anything when being tortured if they think it will make the torture stop.
They were recruiting before, but not in the same numbers, and not from the same crowds. There were relatively few suicide bombings towards our troops during the first few years of this war, and now it is almost daily.

This subject is more intricate in detail then you realize. It is not a one step process that makes them mindless tools. It is a long and patient process that grooms people (commonly referred to as brainwashing). Besides that point, recruiting anyone to work with them is beneficial for their cause, even if they don’t blow themselves up. They need supply guys and MTI’s just like USA does. most of the violance in iraq is not even directed at US troops. The iraqi civilians are baring the brunt of it. So to say that these foreign fighters join because they care so much about their fellow muslims seems a bit strange.

This is a good presentation, but the interrogator should detail his experience: where he drew the line between right and wrong, how he held it, and if-and-how his line changed over those 1000 interrogations.
Cheney, Rumsfeld, Bush, Yoo, and others should all be jailed for war crimes, but there still must be some criminal torturers on the bottom to be prosecuted.

This is very interesting. I am a retired Army Intelligence Interrogator (MOS: 96C which became 97E). I retired in Sep 1998. I am interested, since up until my retirement--well within your 14 year career--there were no Air Force interrogators; at least not for hostile intelligence Interrogation. There could have been SP's that practiced law enforcement interrogation, but nothing in the intelligence field.

The logical flaw here is that no one has defined exactly what they mean when they use the word 'torture'. 1st. Why is it OK to prosecute Sadam and Molosovich for human rights abuse and war crimes and not Bush and Co?

They were recruiting before, but not in the same numbers, and not from the same crowds. There were relatively few suicide bombings towards our troops during the first few years of this war, and now it is almost daily.
I agree that it isn't the ONLY thing, but that it is still major. Don't forget the taboo of stripping anyone naked in Muslim culture, and how blatantly we violated that.
Torture was extremely counterproductive for our troops safety, and pushed "radicals" farther away from us.

at the international military tribunal of the far east,after ww2, some Japanese soldiers were hanged for "water torture"(waterboarding) U.S. p.o.w's in violation of the International torture laws.
change the wording to *enhanced interrogation* & Cheney claims its not torture.
