The only other problem you will EVER have with an original SL-68 is the valve tube. You need to lubricate the rubber end of the valve tube assembly when you install it, and make sure it's in fully and straight and that both set screws are tightened properly to hold the valve tube in place.
It's the length of the pump arm. WITHOUT the air on it pump it back slowly till you hear the click of it engaging the reciever and immediately stop. If the pump at that point is not touching the body of the gun the pump arm is too long. You can screw the arm further into the pump with a pair of pliers. Then reinstall it and do the same thing, listen for the click and make sure the pump is against the body of the gun. If you get no click, screw it out a turn at a time till you do.
lol I have a similar problem. But mine happens with every Tippmann I touch. but the best way to solve the Problem is buy something that not made by Tippmann. hehe that should solve the Problem..... and start a flame war
that is probely cus its old but that shouldnt effect it. get new o rings. clean it. make sure theres a gasket on ur co2 tip thingy. and remeber pump paintball will dominate all of paintball cus it kicks as
well the fact that your firing down with a co2 tank probably has alot to do with it, when you do this all the liquid runs into the marker which would cause orings to burn and cause these types of problems
Mine did the same this weekend- two problems, firstly never point your gun downwards as you've got liquid Co2 running into your marker. Secondly, as soon as I ran mine on air it was fine.
It's not an o-ring. After closer inspection, it seems as though the power tube is broken and is in need of replacement. Tried to ix it and the gun DOES shoot now, but still has a bit of the 'fire-extinguisher' thing going on.
Will sell to best offer, will take trades. PM me for details.
Can you use HPA

might be because the pump handle rod connecting to the internals is not screwed in at the correct length.
if you don't screw it into the pump handle enough it can cause a gas leak during pumping on the newer SL-68 II. might be a similar issue with yours.
throbbingweener 1 year ago
it has all the same internals as the new one so tippman has parts.

aggghhh!! check das cup seal "awsome 1200" is right!!......and the 2 o-rings..lol
Paintplayer42 2 years ago
check the cup-seal
and everyone please stop saying "oring" because there is only about two in the marker and both wont effect leaking.

I know its not what you sell, but can you get me a Tippmann TPX 68. Located in UK. Give prices. Thanks.

@shanman1221 What upgrade allowed you to mount the CO2 tank where the velocity adjuster is? Brand name or custom?
MrFreemason1 1 year ago
It's not the oring mine did the same but I took it apart n reassembled it n it works fine
Same with my bros cuz after he had taken in apart to clean it it started leakin but he reassembled it once more n it worked

Still looks and sounds like an o-ring, o-rings are cheap and easy to replace maybe he needs to re-lube everything.

according to the owners guide, when air blows out of the barrel, the pump rod is screwed too far out. Good luck
sadate360 2 years ago
First of all dont point the gun down, it causes CO2 to leak in, second of aff u probably have a bad seal on the powertube.
